Alfresco Drinking and Latest London Nightlife News

Lots of fun summer nights ahead in London so I thought it€™s probably best to run through as many as I can in this month€™s blog. It is certainly all about the outside drinking destinations so I thought I would focus on some London alfresco hotspots.

A night that certainly caught my eye is the Friday Night Garden Party at The Lost Angel in Battersea. Run by the fabulous folk of Lost Society fame, they are putting on a summer extravaganza with alfresco DJs in that back garden along with a BBQ and more importantly an Hours of Happiness Cocktail special where you can get happy hour prices on your cocktails between 5 and 9pm. Sounds like a little slice of Ibiza in London for those who are not venturing to the White Isle this summer. To find out more about the Lost Angel Friday Night Garden Party click here.

Ever wanted to know what it was like to party like the Indians? Well I have the answer. Head down to The Southbank this summer where you can explore the Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar. This London pop-up bar is celebrating everything India, so expect yummy spicy cocktails and delicious Indian grub whilst gazing over beach and river in London!

Now that the sun is out there is always a mad scramble for London beer gardens and rooftop bars so make sure you check out our pick of the best. Talking of Rooftops, how does a Rooftop bar film club sound? Well the creative people of Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch have done just that and converted their fabulous rooftop bar into an outdoor cinema film club. All summer long you can catch your favourite films on the big screen whilst sipping on a drink looking out from the Queen of Hoxton rooftop bar. Sounds fun hey! Our New Bar Spy has been busy this month, as always on the hunt for the best new bars in London, this time he has hunted out the re-launch of the legendary Living Bar in Brixton. Renowned in the early millennium for all-night fun time parties, it has been closed down for years, but thankfully it has a massive facelift and is now back with a new twist and the promise of even better nights to be had! Check out what the New Bar Spy has to say about Living Bar Brixton.  Our New Bar Spy also reports that Paper nightclub, that is currently shut, plans to reopen in October bigger and better a new site in the heart of Piccadilly so look out for that.

A little something that tickled us in the designmynight office was this rather hilarious story about beer goggles. Now we have all woken up the morning after and blamed it on the beer goggles, well now there is some science to back it up! Researchers from the University of Roehampton conducted a study into the beer goggle theory and report that drinking alcohol hurts our ability to detect asymmetrical faces so on a night out in London you may well find the beer goggles at work!

I would love to hear your Summer Cocktail suggestions for London this summer, check out current London Cocktail of the Month and tell us the best bars and clubs to drink it in London! I personally will be on the Gin and Tonics this weekend and there is probably is no better place to drink gin than at the 19th century Gin Palace recently opened in Shoreditch The Worship Street Whistling Shop. Check out what we thought of Worship Street here.

Enjoy the sun!
