A Grade II listed early 19th-century building, steeped with history, The Gun is located in the heart of the Docklands. The boozer takes its name from the cannon, fired to celebrate the opening of the West India Import Docks in 1802 and was allegedly home to Lord Nelson’s secret assignations with his lover Lady Emma Hamilton.
The pub has been restored to its former glory and with a multitude of stunningly refurbished private dining rooms and snug areas to discover. Retire to the riverside terrace with sweeping view of the River Thames and the O2 for the ideal spot to sip a pre-dinner glass of champagne. Or settle into its cosy interiors for a bottle of wine and a few bar snacks to share.
The Gun serves a beaut British seasonal menu, with daily changing specials. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, they're slinging out everything from crispy buttermilk chicken thighs to braised venison shanks and battered haddock. You can also head over on a Sunday and tuck into a sumptuous roast or get a complimentary glass of malbec when you order steak on Wednesdays.

The Venue In all honesty, The Gun isn’t much to look at from the outside. Cross the threshold however, and it’s a totally different ball game. The front dining area and bar is littered with beautifully laid tables, impressive naval-inspired portraits hang on the walls and homelytrinkets…
