Gun

Description

Step into The Gun, one of London’s most iconic riverside pubs, where history, stunning Thames views, and exceptional food collide. Nestled in a magnificent Grade II listed building, The Gun offers everything from relaxed riverside drinks to unforgettable dining experiences—whether in our elegant interiors or on our sun-soaked terrace as the river sparkles at sunset.

Head Chef Bruno is the culinary star behind our menu, turning classic pub favourites into modern masterpieces using the freshest seasonal ingredients. Our legendary Sunday roasts draw crowds from across London, and our giant Yorkshire puddings have earned a reputation all their own. Feeling adventurous? Opt for our exclusive tasting menu for private dining, complete with expertly paired wines for that extra touch of magic.

Planning a special event? The Gun has it all—private dining, corporate drinks, weddings, birthday bashes, Christmas parties, and more. With a variety of rooms and spaces, plus our hidden riverside garden that’s perfect year-round (heated and enclosed in winter, open-air in summer), your event will be unforgettable. Our dedicated Events Managers are on hand to tailor everything to your needs, from menus to dietary requirements.

But The Gun isn’t just about great food and drinks—it’s dripping with stories. Dating back to the early 18th century, it earned its name from the cannon fired to celebrate the opening of the West India Docks in 1802. Lord Nelson himself was a frequent visitor, meeting Lady Emma Hamilton in what is now the River Room for their secret rendezvous. Smugglers once used hidden tunnels to sneak contraband under the very floors you now walk on, and a secret spy-hole in the circular staircase keeps a cheeky eye out for “The Revenue Men.”

Whether you’re soaking up the riverside views, tucking into a legendary roast, or stepping into a story from centuries past, The Gun is a place where history, atmosphere, and a brilliant pint meet.
