Fun & Romantic Things To Do For Couples In London, Chosen By A Local

Summit At Alexandra Palace

  • Location: Alexandra Palace Way, N22 7AY
  • When: varies, but usually Friday - Monday
  • Price: from £28
  • Activity type: thrilling, unique experience, adventure, roof walk

Make unforgettable memories with your partner by booking tickets to Summit at Alexandra Palace. Developed with Wire & Sky, the guided roof walk is the highest of its kind in the UK - up to 130 metres above sea level. I felt an incredible thrill at this one, and I am still totally mesmerised by the awe-inspiring 60-degree views of London from the viewpoint.

Though you can enjoy daytime and London Lights climbs, I highly recommend their sunset option - it's a truly romantic, thrilling experience for couples.

The Murdér Express Part Deux -Jewel Of The Empire

@ Pedley Street Station on Various dates from Thursday 7th May 2026

  • Location: Pedley Street Station, Arch 63, Pedley Street, E1 5BW
  • When: Thursday - Sunday, times vary
  • Price: from £92.90
  • Activity type: immersive experience, murder mystery, quirky, themed, food & drink

Combining the thrill of a murder mystery with a lavish three-course dinner, The Murdér Express Part Deux - Jewel Of The Empire is one of my top recommendations for a quirky date night. You're transported to 1937, and famed archaeologist Dr. Errol Earhart has discovered the world's most valuable diamond: The Jewel of the Empire. It's being transported via the Murdér Express, but the diamond goes missing and there's been a murder.

I found the production excellent, set on a train at Pedley Station with live actors who really immerse you into the story - it's ideal for couples who like something a little different (like myself). Even better, I couldn't fault the three-course menu curated by the award-winning restaurant Lunar - the chocolate brownie dessert is not to be missed. You can also purchase 1930s-inspired cocktails if you fancy a tipple.

Soul Supper Fridays @ One Ninety Four London Mayfair

@ ONE NINETY FOUR on Friday 8th May 2026 and 13 other Fridays

  • Location: One Ninety Four, 194 Piccadilly, Mayfair, W1J 9LN
  • When: every other Friday, 6.30pm - 10pm
  • Price: from £30.74
  • Activity type: immersive dining, live music, unique experience

Upgrade your dinner and a show date night with tickets to Soul Supper Fridays at One Ninety Four in Mayfair, where you can enjoy the magic of Motown and soul thanks to incredible live tribute acts. On my visit, we swished and swayed to the likes of Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Four Tops, The Supremes, and many more legendary artists.

We also enjoyed a tasty two-course meal while were there (if you'd like to enjoy dinner, just make sure to book a dining ticket). We went for the grilled chicken with creamy mashed potatoes, seasonal steamed vegetables and rich gravy (with a cupcake for dessert), but there's also a vegetarian/vegan menu that swaps chicken for falafel.

Sky Garden

  • Location: 1 Sky Garden Walk, City of London, EC3M 8AF
  • When: open every day
  • Price: from free
  • Activity type: rooftop views, live music, sunrise, classes, food & drinks

It doesn't get more romantic than Sky Garden, a rooftop wonder inside the Walkie-Talkie over in the City of London. I had a fantastic time with my partner here on one of their music nights, where you can enjoy fun performances at the same time as panoramic views of the city from the iconic landmark, not to mention excellent cocktails and nibbles.

But that's not all you can do here; from breakfast with views of the sunrise in the morning to Italian dining and excellent wine dinners, there's an experience for every type of couple here. For something truly spectacular, you can also join them for a Chef's Table experience at Darwin Brasserie.

Rouges 70's & 80's Disco and Funk

  • Location: The Rivoli Ballroom, 350 Brockley Road, Crofton Park, SE4 2BY
  • When: last Saturday of the month, 8pm - 1am
  • Price: £17.60
  • Activity type: drinking and dancing, fun night out, quirky

I recommend that everyone goes to Rivoli Ballroom at least once in their life - namely for their Rouges 70s & 80s Disco and Funk Night, which is perfect for couples looking for a night out on the tiles. Taking place at the iconic Crofton Park venue on the last Saturday of each month, this quirky night out has a cult following of loyal disco bumpers ready to skid their platforms on the dancefloor.

The unique Grade II-listed venue is a repurposed 1950s ballroom with beautifully preserved interiors (which have seen it feature in movies such as Avengers, Wonka and Legend), making it one of the most unique venues for a night out with your other half.

FRAMELESS

@ Frameless on Various dates from Thursday 7th May 2026

  • Location: 6 Marble Arch, W1H 7EJ
  • When: every day
  • Price: from £31.50
  • Activity type: cultural day out, daytime, exhibition, immersive

Get up-close and personal with world-famous works of art at London's Frameless. This one-of-a-kind experience will see you interacting with masterpieces, digitally remastered to engulf the entire room, combined with surround sound for a fully immersive journey through the art of Monet, Dalí, Van Gogh, Munch and more.

My other half and I spent hours here, sitting in the corners of the exhibitions and watching the displays unfold - it was truly mesmorising.

Fortunately, our city has a fine selection of haunts, some of which even made the world's best list. Check out our guide featuring West-based wine bars, quirky speakeasies and sky-high sips boasting sunsets galore.

With live DJ sets, an eclectic music mix, and an incredible cocktail list, it's the perfect place to unwind, sip on carefully crafted drinks, and share a special evening together.

The Big Bakes

  • Location: Tooting and Haggerston
  • When: daily
  • Price: from £32 per person
  • Activity type: wholesome, cooking, competitive

Get ready for a totally unique date night at The Big Bakes, who have locations in Tooting and Haggerston. Together, you'll have 90 minutes to bake and decorate your masterpiece, with a new theme available every month. All ingredients and instructions are provided, so you and your partner need to just put your baking skills to the test.

I really love the immersive nature of this one, as it's set up in a cute marquee with a bunch of different cooking stations featuring everything you'd need to create a winning bake, creating a fun, competitive atmosphere.

Backyard Comedy Club

  • Location: 231 Cambridge Heath Road, E2 0EL
  • When: most evenings
  • Price: free - £25.30
  • Activity type: comedy

When I'm looking for a good night of chuckles with my other half, I always head to Backyard Comedy Club. Located in Bethnal Green, this famous comedy club has been running for over 20 years, showcasing some of the very biggest names on the circuit - think James Acaster, Omid Djalili, Nina Conti and many more.

They host events most nights of the week, from their New Act Night (great for when I'm on a budget, as tickets are free if you book in advance) to their Backyard Comedy Knockout, which sees comedians going head to head to win your vote, to exciting headliner shows from comedy's finest and brightest acts.

23 Best Views In London: From Panoramas To Stunning Cityscapes

Sky-high views? Swoon. What could be more romantic than looking out over the big city together. Check out our guide to some of the best views in the capital from iconic haunts like Sky Garden to pretty rooftop bars such as Madison, where St Paul's is only a mere blink away.

Think perfect picnic spots like Primrose Hill and Greenwich Park, alongside adventure activities with views.

Flight Club - Bars

  • Location: venues across London
  • When: open every day
  • Price: prices vary by time, date and location
  • Activity type: darts, competitive socialising, fun activity, quirky

Darts might not scream date night at first glance, but Flight Club's venues across the capital have given the pub classic a flirtatious, fairground-inspired glow-up. From Shoreditch to Victoria, these bars are complete with slick scoring tech, vintage-style décor and competitive tension between couples (friendly, of course).

They've also got an excellent selection of cocktails and dishes to keep you fuelled up, but I usually go for one of their Brunch Socials when heading over for date night; these include an hour in the oche, a bottle of prosecco or four bottles of beer each, and bottomless pizza - my favourite is the pepperoni.

Disrepute

  • Location: 4 Kingly Court, Soho, W1B 5PW
  • When: open every day from 4pm
  • Price: cocktails around £16 (but are cheaper during aperitivo hour 4pm - 6pm, Sunday to Thursday)
  • Activity type: sophisticated cocktails

For couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Soho, Disrepute is an intimate hideaway that's been named in the Top 50 Cocktail Bars list. Inspired by 1960s counterculture and rich in history, I find that this basement bar offers a luxurious, cosy atmosphere and impeccably crafted cocktails with a touch of nostalgia.

Whether you're drinking cocktails from a menu that reads like a collection of stories or simply soaking in the Art Deco, retro vibe of this iconic space, it's the ideal spot for a romantic night out.

Cultural Date Ideas

Looking for an enriching experience with your other half or a fruitful date taking in some art? We're here to help out with our guide to cultural activities that are not only pretty romantic but pretty fruitful, too. How about roaming around the Barbican and checking out its lush conservatory? Or getting all up in the bone department with a visit to the Natural History Museum? Whatever tickles your fancy, you'll find it here.

  • Location: Mr Fogg's Apothecary, 34 Brook Street, Mayfair, W1K 5DN
  • When: Saturdays, 1pm and 3.30pm
  • Price: from £62.64
  • Activity type: cocktail making, fun activity, quirky, themed

For those out-of-the-box couples activities, head along to Mr Fogg's Treasure Hunt or Cocktail Experiments in Mayfair. At this fun cocktail-making class, set within the cool Elixir Room, you'll have the chance to unleash your inner mad Victorian scientist.

At the pharmaceutical counter, you'll shake, stir and craft unique "potions" (some of which change colour right in front of your eyes), which you'll then get to drink in the cosy and enigmatic setting of the Elixir Room. I have to say, this is one of my favourite cocktail classes in London, as it's more unusual than most, making it ideal for those who fancy something a little different for date night.

When I head here, I also make sure to order a few of their tasty dishes (I'm partial to their tacos, but their sliders, sticks and pizzas are just as good), not to mention their fun cocktail list and jazzy interiors. Not in the area? Check out their King's Cross venue instead.

Every Saturday, House of Burlesque takes its Speakeasy Show to QT at The Middle Eight Hotel in Covent Garden for an incredible evening of live burlesque entertainment. Head to the very heart of the roaring West End for a memorable show of tassel-twirling and cabaret performances in a suave setting.

I had a lovely glass of sparkling wine to start, from their award-winning Urban Winery no less, before being guided through four delicious wines. Even better, these were expertly paired with four delightful cheeses (they really know the way to my heart). Think rich cheddars, soft cheese and more.

One of my favourite spots for a casual date night, Four Quarters is home to 15 original arcade cabinets. These lovingly restored machines date back to the 70s and 2000s, offering everything from Asteroids to pinball and TMNT. In fact, this was even London's first arcade bar before the trend popped off.

Combine your retro arcade and console gaming with thirst-quenching craft beers, solid cocktails and tasty pizzas for the ultimate easy-going date night. And if you don't want to stop the fun? They also have a basement bar where they often host live music and DJs into the night.

On my date night here, we also finished the evening off at the venue's on-site, themed restaurant, Top Hat Restaurant & Bar.
