5 Unmissable Outdoor Bars For Summer 2017

The Great British summer is upon us which means fleeting glimpses of the sun and long evenings punctuated by cider sweats and fruity cocktails. We can finally descend from offices and dimly lit pubs to bask in daylight, can in hand. And if you’re wondering where to drink outside in London, then summer 2017 is serving up some absolute corkers, from city beaches through to Peter Pan themed rooftops. Check out our five favourite London outdoor bars.

Queen of Hoxton

From Viking stronghold through to Peter Pan inspired pop-up, Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop is one sizzling ticket for summer 2017 in London. Named after the battle cry of the Lost Boys, Bangarang will be a Neverland-themed shindig. Stumble across mermaids and giant clams at The Blue Lagoon, battle Hook on a pirate ship or camp out in the Lost Boy’s hideout bar. Forget growing up, it’s all about the island of eternal youth this summer; bag yourself a spot now.

Jimmy’s BBQ Club

You aren't named king of the pop-up scene for nothing, kids, and Jimmy Garcia is putting his magic touch to outdoor drinking in London with a BBQ spot on the Thames. Jimmy’s BBQ Club will be a two-storey beauty with a casual eating bar downstairs, while upstairs is a more formal affair. Put away the elbows and book a place online for access to the top deck with masterclasses that teach you how to grill six courses on the Green Egg BBQs in the middle of the table, and a drinks lists that includes a 10 pint keg (meant to be shared, I’m sure…).

Jimmy's BBQ Club

Jimmy's BBQ Club will feature two storeys including a casual downstairs area and a booking second floor.

Neverland

More St Tropez fun than Blackpool break, Neverland is putting the sexy back into British beaches. The London outside bar is taking over a river-side stretch in Fulham and carting in white sand, massive day beds and beach huts as they create one of summer’s hottest pop-ups. Food is provided by street food supremos The Duck Truck, Taco Dave and Le Rac Shack, and mixologists are on hand to make bucket cocktails. And while this bar might channel the riviera, it comes without the millionaire-friendly price tag; tickets start from £10 (buy here) and you can bring your own booze.

All the fun of the seaside - Neverland is a summer pop-up that's creating a beach in Fulham.

Roof East

Our favourite Stratford carpark is back and open for the summer, and this time it’s got even more fun and games. The East London spot has created an epic adult playground; as well as last year’s Birdies Crazy Golf, occasional outdoor cinema and roster of events which includes yoga sessions, the outdoor bar will be adding a few extras. London’s very first urban bowls pitch will open along with batting cages to live out those American dreams, and there will even be a roller rooftop disco.

Roof East

A former carpark has been transformed into a rooftop bar in Stratford - keep an eye out for their pop-up cinema events.

Brixton Beach

If you didn’t make it down to last year’s Brixton Beach, then hang your head in shame. Fortunately you can redeem your cool kid credentials as the London pop-up makes its comeback for a second year. Buy a ticket here and embrace South London’s hottest beach as it puts on a scorching line-up of DJs including Norman Jay MBE and Gold Teeth. Sustain yourself with bites from street food trucks and tropical tasting cocktails.

Brixton Rooftop

Returning for its second year, Brixton Beach promises another year of DJs, street food and cocktails.
