Description
Bambi is one of East London’s buzziest new arrivals, bringing together good food, great wine and a serious love of music in a way that feels effortlessly cool. Founded by James Dye, the mind behind Frank’s Café and The Camberwell Arms, Bambi occupies the former Bright site in London Fields and leans into a lively, neighbourhood‑friendly atmosphere. By day, it doubles as a café and sandwich spot, while evenings shift into a wine bar and restaurant serving low‑intervention wines, aperitivo cocktails and a menu designed for sharing. The food comes courtesy of chef Henry Freestone, whose background includes Peckham Cellars, where he earned a Bib Gourmand. Expect fun, unfussy dishes using top‑quality British ingredients, from cauliflower cheese arancini to roast chicken with chicken‑fat focaccia, perfect for pairing with a glass of natural wine.
As the night goes on, Bambi transforms into a music‑led hangout, complete with a custom high‑fidelity sound system, wall‑to‑wall vinyl and resident DJs curated by Charlie Dark MBE. The space is warm and relaxed, lit by candles in the evening and buzzing with energy without losing its laid‑back charm. Floor‑to‑ceiling windows give it a bright, open feel during the day, while evenings are all about atmosphere - good tunes, good people and plates made for sharing. It’s the kind of spot that makes London Fields feel like the place to be, whether you're stopping in for a glass of wine, dancing until late, or settling in for a long, leisurely dinner with friends.
