Brutto

Description

Brutto is a boisterous, unapologetically rustic trattoria in Farringdon that channels the soul of Florence with every detail. Founded by the late Russell Norman, the visionary behind Polpo, Brutto is a love letter to traditional Tuscan dining, complete with red-and-white gingham tablecloths, vintage wall art, and rotating ceiling fans that evoke the warmth of an Italian summer. The space is intimate and lively, with a no-frills charm that feels both nostalgic and theatrical. Guests are greeted with a warm, convivial atmosphere where dogs are welcome, music is loud, and the service is as spirited as the food.

Brutto’s unique selling points lie in its simplicity, authenticity, and unbeatable value. The menu is a celebration of hearty, meat-forward Tuscan classics, with highlights like pork and fennel sausages, tagliatelle ragù, and the much-loved dough ball 'cuddles' served with soft cheese and prosciutto.

The tiramisu is a must - light, boozy, and deeply satisfying. Drinks are equally accessible, with negronis and house wine priced at just £5. Brutto has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its quality and value, and the late Norman’s legacy and hands-on approach continue to define its charm and culinary integrity.
