London’s live music scene (from Camden to Shoreditch and back again) comes brimming with characterful pubs, swinging jazz joints and exotic basement clubs in their dozens. Ronnie Scott's

Ronnie Scott's is one of the most famous spots for live music in the entire city, situated in Soho. Opened by Ronnie Scott and Pete King in 1959, this place was originally on Gerrard Street, before relocating to its current venue in 1965 - where it has seen decades of live jazz.

Some iconic artists have performed here over the years, including Jimi Hendrix, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse. There's a fresh lineup of shows every single night of the week, and the intimate space is always packed out with fans.

The Piano Works Covent Garden

With locations in both the West End and Farringdon, The Piano Works is a lively bar that promises non-stop music and entertainment throughout the week. Every song played is requested by the audience, so you can slip the musicians a piece of paper with anything you want to hear.

Expect professional piano vocalists and singing waiters to begin the evening, before a house band takes to the stage - followed by a DJ on weekends. Plus, you'll find musical bottomless brunches on Saturdays.

Tickets to catch the live haus band play are free, so you can simply rock up for the entertainment, and then browse the delicious Bier hall's menu to see if an ice-cold Pilsner or themed cocktail takes your fancy.

Hux Bar

Hux Bar is quickly becoming one of London's premier live music venues, perfectly blending a chic bar experience with an intimate concert vibe.

Cahoots

St John’s Tavern

This secretive event is held at a mystery Central London location, revealed by email only two days before. Tickets start from only £27.50, with the option to add on drinks, a reserved table or even a sumptuous three-course dinner.

CLF Art Lounge

As the renovation remains underway at the CLF Art Lounge's stunning rooftop in Mountview, the CLF Art Lounge Pop Up is here to fill the void in style. On the Mountview ground floor, it serves up all the same spectacular drinks, Patio Pizza, DJs and immaculate vibes you know and love from the OG venue.

That said, this is much more than a stopgap until the summer opening. With an extensive calendar of live music, comedy, spoken word and art, this is an incredible venue for entertainment in its own right.

Scarfes Bar

A stylish cocktail bar in Holborn, Scarfes Bar has a cosy, drawing room feel to it, inspired by gentleman's clubs. They've got shelves filled with over 1,000 antique books, hand-picked by a Portobello antique dealer, alongside cosy booth seating and lots of lamps.

They host free live music performances six nights a week, with a wide range of artists playing. Plus, their talented bartenders will make you some truly excellent drinks to enjoy while you listen.

Looking for a hub of creativity right in the heart of London? Setlist can be found on the terrace of Somerset House, promising breathtaking views of the Thames while you enjoy their regular lineup of live music and DJ sets, as well as the odd art installation.

They showcase the very best of local, up-and-coming talent, hosting a diverse range of acts. There's plenty of great food available too, prepared by a team of female chefs - we're talking pistachio pesto pizzas, steak and chorizo tacos or fried plantain.

The Bedford

Considering Ed Sheeran once played here, years before he reached international fame, The Bedford is without a doubt a fantastic place to catch exciting up-and-coming artists. The Balham institution hosts live sets in their club room most nights of the week from 8pm.

The historic building dates back to 1931, and you can expect elegant red and gold interiors. Feeling peckish? They're also cooking up everything from chorizo and goat's cheese pizzas to bacon and blue cheese burgers.

The Macbeth

A haunt boasting live music and an eclectic mix of artists, Shoreditch destination The Macbeth is a more than suitable choice.

Decked out with sleek decor, this stylish pub promises a cool and casual vibe as you sip on the likes of espresso martinis while checking out artists such Peter Doherty, Damien Marley and Florence And The Machine.

The Moth Club

Boasting one of the best live music programmes in Hackney, the Moth Club brings together fresh talent and established acts every month. Head down for the chance to catch your favourite new band or catch a little something you didn't know existed.

This place has been around since 1972, hosting everything from bingo nights to cabaret shows, karaoke and stand-up comedy alongside the live music. 

The Star of Kings

A King's Cross favourite for after work drinks and nights out with entertainment in London, The Star of Kings is quite the social hangout. A no-frills boozer boasting quite the legacy of live music sets, this pub has an epic set up for bands to rock out on.

Quaglino's

This well-known restaurant hosts performances almost every single night. While you watch, sip cocktails or dine on premium dishes like lobster bisque, chargrilled tomahawk steaks and asparagus and ricotta tortelloni.

Signature Brew Haggerston

The Lock Inn
