Description

London’s only non-stop live music venue, where in-house musicians take centre stage and only play songs requested by the audience!

Located in a listed Victorian basement, The Piano Works can be found hidden in the heart of Farringdon.

Enter this House of Song, write your music requests on cocktail napkins and hand to your waiter or the musicians to be performed. Drink from a classically strange selection of cocktails and hand selected wines, eat from a steak menu or selection of bar food, tip a human jukebox, sing your heart out and dance to your favourite songs from dusk 'til dawn.

Part bar, part restaurant, part concert, part party.

The audience decides the repertoire in the #HouseofSong!

Drink, Sing, Eat, Dance, and Tip a human jukebox!

My friends and I had such a great time at TPW for my work leaving do! The service was superb, as always, the drinks and food excellent, and of course the musicians outstanding! Real fun all over! The highlight: the birthday board, that we all posed in front! What a laugh! visited The Piano Works on 20 Sep 2017

I love the experience of pianoworks its amazing, but the bar staff were so incredibly rude to me on my birthday night on multiple occasions. It really did have a negative effect on my night, I was nothing but polite and all I got was attitude or ignored. visited The Piano Works on 16 Sep 2017

Night was almost ruined by the Bouncers. They kept on saying they have a queueing policy without really explaining it. I called up beforehand and was told between 8-9pm the average wait time was 10-15 mins. Instead we were left waiting for around 45 minutes while we saw all the table people go in. When we got in, it really wasn't that busy. visited The Piano Works on 16 Sep 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We do get very busy on the weekend. Entry is only guaranteed with a reservation and it is not always possible to predict how long the wait can be. At 9pm we remove a lot of furniture from the venue which would explain why there was plenty of space inside however we do have to keep space for our guests who have booked in advance to arrive for their reservations. I would be more than happy to get you booked in ahead of your next visit so that your party will have priority entry. Please feel free to get in touch. We're sorry you didn't get to experience The Piano Works. Our Saturdays can get booked up to 6 weeks in advance, but we do advise planning a visit in order to receive priority entry. Otherwise, if you'd like to visit us early week we have live music every day and a much quieter atmosphere if you prefer!

The music and the band were absolutely fantastic however I will never eat there again. The set menu is either 2 or 3 courses, we were told as they were busy we could only have 2 courses and of the 2 the whole party had to either have starter/main or desert and main. We were then told as it was busy they were no longer doing desert. The service wasn't great, we were rushed and plates were cleared whilst people were still eating. visited The Piano Works on 08 Sep 2017

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, nice prosecco, food.. just bad. It was not fresh, did not smell appetising, there was not one bit of it that was tasty (we ordered eggs royale and avocado on the side). It was a bottomless brunch and we ended up focusing on the drinks, so it wasn't the most terrible experience, however we would definitely not attempt food in the Piano Works again. Back for some drinks and music? Yes. visited The Piano Works on 03 Sep 2017

A great night out - loved the drinks, food and the music was brilliant as always. The only disappointing aspect was I reserved an area for 20 people and whilst I don't expect 20 seats, we had a small table with four chairs. The drinks and food didn't even fit! Aside from that, everyone had a great night and our bride to be was treated like a queen! visited The Piano Works on 01 Sep 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Thank you very much for sending over your feedback to us, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed your evening with us and that the bride to be had a fab pre wedding party! As we a live music venue, we keep seating to a minimum as we want to encourage everyone to be up and dancing! We do aim to seat 1 in 5, so for a group of 20, a table with 4 chairs is correct and what we let all of our reservations know prior to their party. We look forward to seeing you again soon, feel free to get in touch when you would like to visit us again and we would be more than happy to plan your party for you. Best wishes, Daisy

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant. This was my first visit and I was really impressed with the music. However; I haven't rated it higher as I did email Piano works on two occasions stating that we were celebrating my mum's 50th. They said that they couldn't do a cake (although during the night we noticed that someone did have a cake from them and it was brought out especially) but they could do a shout out. I provided the details and we were there from 5-11pm and no shout out! We also did a couple of song requests with a generous tip and we made a note that it was our mum's 50th but again, nothing! Disappointed with this as there was a hen party there and someone celebrating their 30th and they seemed to get a lot of attention and shout outs! This was a shame as we actually spent a lot of money on foos and drinks all night! Unfortunately we won't be visiting again for a "special occasion". Natalie-Ann visited The Piano Works on 26 Aug 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and for your compliments regarding our food and musicians, this is great to hear. We bring out our celebration boards and our musicians sing a birthday and pre wedding song for every person celebrating on the night, as we can have up to around 400 people in the venue we unfortunately, can’t do personal shout outs to individual guests who are celebrating an occasion with us. We do offer birthday cakes for parties, these were the cakes you could see being taken over to tables, these can either be pre purchased by the party or are offered complimentary to drinks tables of 15 or more. These cakes aren’t available for dinner reservations or smaller groups. I’m sorry that your song requests weren’t played on the night, our musicians do receive an incredibly high volume and try their best to get through as many as they can throughout the evening. I hope that these issues didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that you were able to enjoy our live musicians and atmosphere for the rest of your stay. The food was very average, but the bottomless prosecco came out fairly quickly and our dinner waitress was very accomodating. Dinner is served on bar tables, and there's a bit of a sticky floor/boozey pub smell vibe. I went for my birthday night out but it was cut short and ruined after being kicked out by overly aggressive bouncers at 7.15pm. Our small group of 4 were joined by another group of friends after our dinner at around 7pm. The other group were accused of 'spinning around on chairs' and 'antagonising the bouncers' none of this I saw, but fair enough they were kicked out (no huge deal, they'd just arrived). One of my friends who was sitting with them, but not involved in the chair spinning, walked away and went to the loo as the others were asked to leave. He was accused of 'running away' from the bouncers - NOT TRUE - because I was there and saw him calmly walk to the loo. Needless to say he was grabbed around the neck by a bouncer about 3 x the size of him and aggressively removed from the club. Incredibly disappointing after spending a lot of money eating dinner, and ordering the bottomless prosecco each and for a special occasion. The bouncer did calm down after I spoke to him for about 30 mins, but by this point my friend was understandably embarassed and fuming and not wanting to continue our night inside where he'd just been forceably removed for doing nothing. I won't be recommending this to place to anyone in the future, one big let down. visited The Piano Works on 19 Aug 2017

We queued for one hour to get in despite being on the friends list, to then be told they do not except cards. We then queued for 45mins at the bar to get a drink. visited The Piano Works on 18 Aug 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. Our friendslist offers a discounted entrance fee into the venue for an hour (between 8pm and 9pm on a Saturday and between 9pm and 10pm on a Friday). Our friendslist does not guarantee entrance or queue jump. This is clearly explained both before confirmation and in the t&cs once your friendslist has been confirmed. We only offer priority entrance to our reservations. I apologise that it wasn’t made clear to your party that we do not accept card payments at the door, I will pass feedback onto our door team and ensure they are communicating that to any guests who are standing in line. We do also have an ATM machine downstairs. Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss any further, my email address is Daisy@pianoworks.bar. Best wishes, Daisy

Table was dirty and full of used empty glasses. Asked for a different table because that was outrageous. The place was very noisy and crowded. People that were having a drink around our table started leaving their stuff on the our chairs. Asked for two medium steaks received two medium rare; asked for sparkling water we were given tap, this level of service costs £100 for two people. I have booked a table of 15 people and therefore was prepared to spend serious money on the night. Myself and my guest were left quite disappointed once we have realised the area that was booked for us was practically speaking in the middle of the dance floor where everyone was leaving their drinks. The security team was pretty useless in clearing the are to let us enjoy our table. Also the table was more for 8-10 people, not 15 which i was very clearly indicated many weeks beforehand. The music on the night was OK, but not great. 4 of my guests have left when then saw the area that was booked for us and heard the music that was playing!! Far too many birthday and hen do parties squeezed in a relatively small area. Myself and one other girl at our table was pregnant and that was the whole point of booking a private area. I spoke to the manager about it but he has done nothing to improve the situation. The table we were given didn't make us feel safe or comfortable with all the people pushing us around and trying to use our table. I will not be going back to Piano Works soon. I wouldn't recommend it as a good venue for memorable party unless all you want is a cheap night out with very cheesy music. visited The Piano Works on 12 Aug 2017

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. All of our tables are free of charge and the main benefit of booking one is to have a base for the evening along with receiving free and priority entry for your entire party saving in your case, £150 on entry fees. When booking a table, it is made very clear that we aim to seat 1 in 5 guests so you would have been aware that you would receive a maximum of 3 seats. The venue holds up to 400 people who come to enjoy our nonstop live music, to dance & sing rather than be seated for the evening. As this is the case we reduce the amount of the furniture in the venue to make it safer for everyone visiting. You mentioned booking a private area however this is not something we offer to groups of 15. Our booking types are either dinner or drinks tables with room hire only being offered Monday to Thursday for groups of 80 people. The atmosphere in the venue is no doubt lively and we fully encourage all guests to enjoy themselves while requesting songs. We do always aim to accommodate all guests however in some cases it is better to visit early week when it is less busy but you can still enjoy live music. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at The Piano Works. Kind regards, Nicola

Our table was booked from 2-4pm for a bottomless brunch - we arrived on time and our table wasn't ready so we didn't get seated until 2:30pm. As soon as we sat down, we were rushed to order our food and as soon as we finished our food, the waitress immediately brought us our bill even though we had be sat for approx 30 mins. Around 3:45 the waitress came and said we would have to leave the table soon as it needed to be ready for another booking. We informed her we sat down half an hour late due to no fault of our own, therefore we should be allowed our full 2 hours. The waitress was very rude, interrupting us when we tried to explain. Eventually she decided to actually listen to us and understood we wanted to stay until 4:30 so we could experience the full 2 hours. All in all, it was a bit of a joke the whole thing, as they couldn't wait to get us out of there and customer service was non existence. visited The Piano Works on 12 Aug 2017

First time at Piano Works, Farringdon, this week. Was impressed with the welcome and also the waiter who greeted us and allowed us to move to a table where the view to the stage wasn't obscured by a big, black pillar. The piano players in attendance before the band turned up were great and played a song that was requested by myself, with aplomb! As the night progressed and the arrival of the band was much anticipated, the venue had an incredible turnout and once the band took stage and the requests poured in, they only played the song requests with which they were receiving tips! This was enough to turn the night into a downer. Advice to management, make it fair. What's right is right. visited The Piano Works on 09 Aug 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us over your feedback. I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time at The Piano Works that our staff were accommodating, our hosts were welcoming and friendly and that our musicians played your song requests. This is why we’re slightly surprised at the 1 star review. As you could probably see, once the evening progresses, the venue gets full and there is more of a gig vibe. Firstly, once the full 6 piece band are on stage, our musicians choose requests that can delivered well and are suitable for a full band, some songs simply only sound the best they can when you have two pianos and some with the full band. We can have up to 400 people in the venue on our busier nights, because of this our musicians are inundated with song requests from the audience, our musicians will prioritise those with tips. Any amount is welcome. We also make this clear on our website, Eat, Drinks, Dance, Sing, Tip! We really hope that this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that all the other aspects of The Piano Works helped you to have an enjoyable night. Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss further. All the best, Daisy

We both absolutely loved it, the food was Delicious, the cocktails sublime and great value for money. we were well looked after by the staff; very friendly and polite. My experience was great. We had organised a surprise birthday party and two of our guests were arriving late. I had told the staff of this, but the two people were still charged at the door. When I called up to complain about this after the event I was told the matter would be escalated and I would get a call back. This, to date has however not happened. Its quite frankly really pathetic aftercare/customer service but the music, food and drink was all good! visited The Piano Works on 08 Jul 2017

Hi Nadia, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and thank you for your compliments regarding our music and venue, we’re glad that you enjoyed our concept. As discussed on the phone, you had a reservation with us at 7.30pm, with this reservation we offer 1 hours free and priority entrance into the venue for all of your guests. This is explained before confirming, then again in your confirmation email, we also call all of our reservations on the day to reconfirm all details, where our priority and free entrance policy would have been explained. The reason we offer free and priority entrance for an hour and not for the whole evening is because we have walk in customers too, it wouldn’t be fair to expect those people to wait outside for the majority of their evening while we prioritise reservations who arrive at different points throughout the entire evening, and after their allocated time. You confirmed to me on the phone that your guests arrived after 8.30pm, after your 1 hours free and priority entrance, and so they were charged the £10 door fee. I passed on your comments to our floor team however, there is nothing that we could do after this. Your guests were charged as they arrived after your free and priority slot. This is something that you would have been made aware of before arriving to The Piano Works. Again, I’m really pleased that you enjoyed your evening and we were able to deliver a successful party for you, I hope that this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that you will visit us again soon. What a fabulous place!! Last weekend I had the delight of the Piano Works bottomless brunch (2pm-4pm) and it was great! I loved the fact the prosecco was left on the table, the brunch selection is seriously tasty and the music/atmosphere is so fun, the live band are phenomenal! The only thing stopping this be a 5/5 star is the service was slow and at some points the music was very loud. (I know this is the point of the place) and by all means not a bad thing, but it was hard to talk which we didn't realise was going to be the case. Apart from that, this place is a must do!!

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Piano Works. While we enjoyed the food, cocktails and entertainment, the service was diabolical. There was not enough staff to deal with the number of customers there, which is ridiculous given that bookings are taken in advance. We arrived just before 5pm for our booking and were shown to our table even though it had not yet been set for us (no cutlery or menus). No-one came to set it whilst we were sat there and this led to confusion amongst the staff, with a waitress taking our initial drinks order but not coming back to our table for our food order. We spoke to a different member of staff at 5.30pm as we could not find our waitress and stated we were concerned that our order had not yet been taken and we only had the table for another hour and a half. We eventually got served and had our starters and mains. The waitress took our dinner plates away around 6.15pm but didn’t come back to ask if we wanted dessert. We tried to look out for her as we were again concerned about the time. She eventually came back to our table at 6.40pm and just told us that we were too late to have a dessert when we asked if we could place our order, as the desserts take ages to prepare. This was not our fault and we didn’t even get an apology for the messing around at the start of our booking. We tried to make the staff aware that we were not happy with how we had been treated, but they didn’t seem interested, just wanted us to move off the table. Finally, the bill was incorrect although the waitress did take the correct money and said she will sort it out at the till later. We felt very undervalued and would not recommend this venue due to the bad service. visited The Piano Works on 05 Aug 2017

I organised my best friends hen party here and it was absolutely perfect. The waiter we had (shaved head and glasses) was lovely and very attentive, he made sure we always had water (which was very much needed), the management team were welcoming and professional and the security were courteous and not too pushy. I gave Piano Works a glistening review back in June, after celebrating my best friends birthday there. The place is so amazing that I absolutely HAD to come back to celebrate my own birthday (25/07) and give another review, of course! We were treated like royalty all night, because again, the staff were super accommodating, very friendly and really do know how to ensure their customers have a good time. Band were outstanding, playing a good range of music, and the cocktails were very tasty. Can highly recommend the coconut mojito. Big thanks to Issa, Matteus (not sure how to spell!) and Carla for looking after us. Amazing job, yet again. 10 our of 10 stars for this place! Mandy visited The Piano Works on 25 Jul 2017

My partner was kicked out after an hour, at 10pm which really ruined the night. Neither of us were drunk and he wasn't given a reason why he was kicked out, nor was he allowed to come back in. I left him waiting on the dancefloor while I went to the toilet. We're really disappointed as we were looking forward to a great night for my birthday and as a result had to leave after just an hour. Food was fab, very slow on getting our bottomless prosecco (7:30 instead of 7pm), and despite assurances we would be able to extend the finish time until 9:30pm, we were booted off our table at 9pm and no prosecco ever materialised at our drinks area, which was disappointing. The only reservation type that doesn't require card details is our friends list, this offers a discount on your entrance fee on a Friday between 9pm and 10pm and between 8pm and 9pm on a Saturday. We were sat right behind the band and we felt that the venue is too dark and the band were too loud for brunch, we couldn't hear the person next to us speak which as a venue that accommodates large groups, we were unable to mix. The staff also seemed to 'annoyed' and we were moved from pillar to post many times, which showed the venues lack of organization. However the food service was quick and the bottomless drinks were generous. After our two hours were up, we left and went elsewhere. We suggested that the band either play slightly quieter, or have regular breaks, or best of all hit a different vibe for brunch (acoustic? relaxing? mellow?) visited The Piano Works on 22 Jul 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. I’m sorry that our Saturday brunch didn’t suit your party. We are a nonstop live music venue and we want our Saturday brunches to be a day time party, with exactly the same atmosphere as a Saturday night. Live music is at the forefront of this and our six piece band is the main reason why people visit us. As London’s only nonstop live music venue, we feel it wouldn’t be appropriate for our musicians to take any kind of break. We are going to be launching our Sunday socials from the 3rd September. Our full band won’t take to the stage until 4pm, rather than 1pm on Saturdays, which means this may suit your party a little more. Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss any further, or if you would like me to book you a table on a Sunday. All the best, Daisy

Had a really good night for my parents birthdays, live music was fantastic and very enjoyable. We ate dinner, and had reserved the table for the full night so we were allowed to stay on it, I think otherwise they only allow 2 hrs. Food was good. We added bottomless prosecco for £15 per person for the 2 hours. However we only got served after 25 minutes and also were told it was limited to a bottle per person which is a lot yes, but shouldn't be sold as 'bottomless' that was disappointing. Also we weren't offered desserts (not that they were needed) but instead were told that we should have ordered them when ordering starter and main! Service let them down, but I would definitely go back for th live music!! celkins00 visited The Piano Works on 26 Jul 2017

Thank you very much for your feedback and your compliments regarding our live music. The guideline that we put in place with our floor team is 1 bottle per person, as we like to promote responsible drinking as well as a party. Having said this, our offer is bottomless and this should just be a guideline. We have passed your comments onto our floor team to ensure that the offer we are promoting is being fulfilled. This is the same with your issue regarding dessert, we will raise this with our floor team to ensure they are being as accommodating as possible to our guests. I hope that these issues didn't put too much of a dampener on your evening and you would come back again. My goodness it was just the best fun. We went as a group of three 60 year old ladies as one of my birthday celebrations. We opted for the "bottomless brunch" booked for 12 noon, which consisted of amazing cooked egg bacon etc and as much Prosecco as you can manage. Two pianists began playing and singing our requests and just an hour later they were joined by a great band playing popular tunes which we all enjoyed [even a boogie] Definitely worth a visit!!! visited The Piano Works on 15 Jul 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, I’m sorry that you were disappointed with the space that we gave you. As we are a live music venue, we offer minimal seating for our drinks reservations, we encourage all of our guests to be up and dancing around the stage. All of our drinks areas area bases for the evening and we aim to seat 1 in 5, although this is never guaranteed. This is explained to all of our enquiries both before reserving a space and also when we send out the confirmation email. There was a group of 25 of us and the only thing I could say is that at the time of booking they never gave a seating option and we ended up being behind a wall with no view of the stage. There were awesome booth seats available and when we asked to move there the waitress said you had to book it at time of booking. The two ladies working in the bag check area were awesome, the drinks were great and reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the place was awesome. Would recommend to anyone, just make sure you ask to be seated in the main area. visited The Piano Works on 07 Jul 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback and thank you for your compliments regarding our music and lovely host team. We are more than happy to take requests from our guests if there is a specific space in the venue they would like, our floor team will always try their best to accommodate. Our booths in the main room are usually allocated to slightly larger groups, as these can seat up to 10. To confirm these, we do ask for you to commit to a £500 minimum spend and confirm this with a £250 deposit. Your reservation will also give you and your entire party free and priority entrance, which is the main benefit of reserving a space with us. I hope that this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that you still enjoyed your evening of nonstop live music with us. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to send me an email daisy@pianoworks.bar Best wishes, Daisy

Great atmosphere for a drink, music is good (though they didn't play any of our requests even though we were there for 4 hours). Food is horribly overpriced and service was shocking, we didn't pay the service charge because of it - wandered round for about 10 mins trying to find a waitress and failed (had to ask at the bar who eventually called one over, told us there were no tables available even though we'd booked: eventually found our table but took forever). Starters tasted ok but the vegetarian main is dry as a bone and the dessert was also poor. visited The Piano Works on 07 Jul 2017

A great day out. A surprise event for my other half's birthday I really needed everything to run smoothly. I'd organized to go on the bottomless brunch event. Staff looked after us all very well. All conversations and arrangements prior to the day were handled very well. Constantly contacted by piano works to make sure everything I needed was catered for. The band were brilliant, playing all our requests and creating a great atmosphere. Piano works even arranged for a cake and an extra bottle of processo which was brilliant. A really fun day and would highly recommend to anyone. We will certainly be going back. Thanks for making my girlfriends day so special! visited The Piano Works on 01 Jul 2017

I had asked for a table in view of the stage and was tucked into a corner near a small bar at the back. Also, it was my birthday and was told I'd be provided a cake and a bottle of prosecco for when I arrived but ended up waiting an hour for anything to arrive and after mentioning it at the bar all I got was the prosecco. I'm a big fan of the Piano Works and have other events coming up that I'd plan to book at your bar but this has very much soured the relationship. visited The Piano Works on 20 May 2017

Food was amazing and so was the atmosphere Music was brilliant The place is very charming Aperols were overpriced and not so tasty My friend and I had: 2 starters (bruschetta and carpaccio, which arrived with parmesan on, even thou at time of ordering I had asked whether it came with cheese, and I got told it didn't) 2 mains (steaks, one with peppercorns, the other one with mushroom sauce, we both had sweet potatoes fries and bottomless prosecco) All of this should have costed us £40 per head, instead we were charged £45pp (which I believe the cost of the 3 courses meal) even thou we never ordered the the third course. I appreciate the place is very busy and mistakes can happen Overall the experience was satisfactory visited The Piano Works on 24 Jun 2017

The Piano Works is a fun place, but I would NOT recommend hosting a party there. I booked a table for 15 people, and was given a table for 2. When I complained of this to the manager, he was very unapologetic and basically told me that's just how it is. You can imagine how my 15 guests felt when they arrived and we all had to huddle around a tiny table. To book the table I called 3 weeks in advance and spoke to their reception team to make the booking, and I received a confirmation email confirming that I booked for 15 people, so I don't understand why they thought it was appropriate to provide a tiny table for 2. Anyway, its a fun place, just don't try to host a party there. visited The Piano Works on 24 Jun 2017

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Our drinks areas are a base for the evening. We aim to seat 1 in 5 people as stated in our confirmation email however this is never guaranteed. As a live music venue we encourage people to dance and sing along with the house band. When you reserve a free drinks area you also receive free and priority entry for your entire party. The following is a copy of our confirmation email. Thank you for booking your drinks table at The Piano Works. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the House of Song! Just a few things you need to be aware of before you arrive. We always try to get everyone into the venue as soon as possible and we get really busy on Fridays and Saturday so please allow queuing time if we are full. We offer complimentary & priority entry for up to 1 hour after your original booking time however if you book a table at 9pm you will only receive priority entry until 9.30pm. Door charges are applicable (please check our website) outside of the above. Your drinks table does not provide seating for everyone as it’s only a base for the evening and we encourage you to sing and dance, after all we are the House of Song! We aim to seat 1 in 5 guests (however this is not guaranteed) and the table will be yours for the whole evening. Feel free to contact us at any time if you need to cancel or amend your reservation. If you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Kind regards, Nicola

The Piano Works is an exceptional venue. Take the slightly negative reviews you may see with a pinch of salt (hey... everyone loves a good moan on the internet, right?!). If you're a bit of a quiet soul, don't want the party/party/party experience, or want something more "The Ritz" then this venue probably won't be your thing. But if you want fun and party galore, then give The Piano Works a try :) I've had some horrendous previous experiences with birthday bookings for London venues (sat next to toilets, our area given away last minute etc.) so was understandably very nervous when booking. The Piano Works team were friendly, reassuring, added additional notes to my booking & made sure everything was double confirmed by email. On the actual night of the booking, we needed to amend this to a later time. Again, Piano Works were helpful and extremely accommodating. The night itself couldn't have gone better. Main meal (steaks) were really well cooked, very tasty and there were generous portions. Dessert was fantastic, AND the staff even stuck a cheeky candle in my friends chocolate cake! So thoughtful/cute! The live band were phenomenal and REALLY knew their stuff - and we had a particular soft spot for the trumpet player (Karen) who was sassing/jazzing things up all night long! The band played a very wide mixture of songs, and it was lovely that quite a few of our requests were played. We couldn't catch the band out. They dared to attempt some of our trickier requests! (E.G. Sia - Chandelier; lets see how high the vocalist can go! - then it happened, and was flawless) The staff at Piano Works went out of their way to make this night special for us. Massive thanks go out to Evelina, Issa and Ade who really made our night sparkle. We'll be back! Most probably with a gang of others, haha! For now.... this particular night is a night me and my best friend will remember for years to come, so THANK YOU Piano Works! :) visited The Piano Works on 21 Jun 2017

Amazing when we were finally sat down but when our group arrived on Saturday, I was told that I'd booked just a drinking area whereas when I'd originally booked, I said I wanted to book the bottomless brunch. I'm not sure what happened and eventually they resolved it but I think they need to be clearer when booking, what the person is actually getting. Staff weren't particularly friendly, luckily the band salvaged it. Lauren visited The Piano Works on 24 Jun 2017

Hi Lauren, Thank you for your feedback and for your compliments regarding our musicians. I was one of the team members who spoke to you on the day. I’m glad that we were able to offer your party an alternative table. You had absolutely booked a bottomless brunch, but as I tried to explain on the day this was at a drinking table, you can see the details below “Our Brunch drinking areas are a base for the afternoon (we aim to seat 1 in 5 people but this is not guaranteed). Your party are welcome to enjoy our bottomless drinks packages if they order a minimum food order of a breakfast bap each (veggie options available too!). Your entire group must opt for this. “ This was sent over to you on the 6th April. We also reconfirmed all of these details over the phone on the 22nd June. I apologise that there was some confusion as to what booking type you had, we have since updated our terms and conditions as well as booking description, to clearly lay out the different between a brunch dining table and a brunch drinks area, to avoid this happening again in the future. I hope that as we were able to accommodate the change in reservation on the day, this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your afternoon. Please let me know when you would like to join us again and I would be more than happy to reserve you a Brunch Dining table. All the best, Daisy

The band was great, despite a slightly dodgy attempt at Lose Yourself towards the end that didn't quite work out. The drummer (Tobias) especially was very good throughout! We were a bit disappointed with our table at the beginning as we got in at 9pm for our booking but it wasn't ready until half past. One of the staff actually had a word with my friend asking her not to stand where she was standing, but she was only standing there because the table wasn't ready. Somebody (not from our group) also drunkenly tripped over a table as she ran towards the toilets and knocked some drinks over, which we were able to have replaced after some discussion with one of the staff. We actually had to convince her that it would be the decent thing to do after she originally said she'd have to get the girl who had tripped over to pay for it but she couldn't because she was too drunk(?). Having worked in pubs myself, I didn't think it was a very difficult decision to make. Overall, it wasn't the smoothest night ever but the music and the atmosphere it generates as a result make me see why the place is so popular! With slicker service/general operation, I would definitely have given it five stars. Rakhesh visited The Piano Works on 24 Jun 2017

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us over your feedback. I'm sorry that your night had a bit of a disappointing start, we are incredibly busy and sometimes things can over run slightly. I have spoken to your server on the evening regarding the drinks. It is only our managers who can authorise replacement drinks, I believe your server went to get them immediately to rectify the issue, the manager was actually working up on the door, which is why there was a slight wait. Not your fault and we take full responsibility. I'm glad that you did receive your replacement round of drinks and that you were able to enjoy the rest of your evening. I hope you will come back and see us again soon and give us another change. Please get in touch and I would be delighted to book you a space. All the best, Daisy

Had a goid night here, friendly greeter and attentive waitress, food was plentiful though plain fayre- i had the Lamb & sweet potatoe fries. Drinks definitely flowed with a good assortment of cocktails. Prices £££...a bit steep for the food we had; drink prices were about average for similar bars. Music was great, hats off to the band and they're non stop performances of many varied requested tunes. We would visit again but not for food, a night of drinks and dancing is probably the better option here. visited The Piano Works on 15 Jun 2017

Was very excited about attending the Piano Works for the first time, as a celebration of my 21st birthday. The first difficulty I had with the venue, was that I wanted to have a party of 15 people for dinner and then drinks. They said they could not offer me dinner for a party larger than 10, but we could have a drinks table with bar snacks. I accepted that this may be the only option, and still wished to go, so I accepted and booked. I then emailed as saw a small disclaimer on the menu saying the bottomless prosecco (one of our main reasons for going), was only available with a full meal. I emailed the venue to query if we could still receive this, as we did want a full meal but it was them that couldn't accommodate this. They repeatedly said no, even though explained there was a large group of us, that would be spending a lot, and some had traveled far to celebrate my birthday. We arrived, and LUCKILY, some of our party couldn't make it, as the table could only fit 10 people at a push and some of my guests had to stand up. We queried this and they told us that this was their biggest table and wouldn't really accommodate 15 (wish I'd known this before?!). Not to mention the fact that we were behind a large pillar and couldn't actually see the stage, or anything for that matter! Glad I told them it was a special occasion... We were then treated to potentially some of worst service I have received since I moved to London two years ago. The waiter had a difficult language barrier, was rude and blunt to all the guests, sometimes asking us to 'be quiet' when he struggled to slowly jot down the order. We complained on the night and were given some prosecco as compensation, but I just do not feel that this was enough for such a poor experience, combined with poor service. visited The Piano Works on 03 Jun 2017

Hi Angharad. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I spoke to with you the run up to your party and responded to your request for bottomless prosecco with your drinks area. As mentioned at the time, our bottomless drinks packages are only available when dining as we strongly promote responsible drinking. This is also stated on our website “The bottomless prosecco package is available every day for £15 per person with any brunch or dinner sitting. Immerse yourself in bubbles whilst feasting!” I also explained that our Saturdays are very busy and our dinner sittings can get booked up to 6 weeks in advance. We did offer a table for 10 for dinner which was the last large table we had available but as you commented your party was a group of 15 at the time of booking which later dropped to 10 people. You had a booth reserved on the evening which is very unusual for a party of 10/15 people as our policy for drinks areas is to aim to seat 1 in 5 people. Our booths seat 8 to 10 people which means the majority if not all of your booking were seated on the evening and with your reservation you also received priority and free entry for your group. Our seating policy is explained in our terms and conditions. As a live music venue, we encourage our guests to dance and sing which is why we never offer seating for everyone unless you are dining. With regards to your comments about the service you received I would be more than happy to raise this with the bar and restaurant manager. It would be helpful if you could provide descriptions of the people who served you so that we can look into this for you. Please feel free to get in touch on nicola@pianoworks.bar Kind regards, Nicola

The musicians were unbelievable (big shout out to the pianist who rocked Express Yourself by NWA on my request!). My waiter was really helpful, but I was incredibly offended and surprised by the floor staff and the manager in particular. We had reserved a table for drinks and upon arrival found there were not enough chairs, and were told that as a policy it's 1 chair for 5 people in a drinks section (this is on the email but I had not been told about it when booking over the phone - which is ridiculous. That is the most important time to be told. It's also a silly policy.) Forgiving this slip I asked if we could get extra seats, and when the floor manager couldn't help she went to get the overall manager. I can honestly say I never been treated so rudely and with such a lack of respect by anyone in a customer-facing role. We were a group of 7 on a business night out, we were planning on spending loads on food and drink and all we wanted was a seat, which seemed to personally offend the manager. Furthermore, we were told we could not get food between 7-9 and that that information was on the email confirmation - it was not. Our waiter tried to accommodate us as best he could, but we were unable to order until after 9.15 (which was late for a hungry bunch of us!). Perhaps that was just a policy for the evening because of the big group eating there, but it is a ridiculous policy! We will be coming back, because the music was so good but we will not be eating or drinking there ever again. visited The Piano Works on 07 Jun 2017

Hi Anna, Thank you for taking the time to send over your feedback. I believe I spoke to you on the evening, I tried to explain that our drinks areas are bases for the evening and we only aim to seat 1 in 5. This is explained to all of our enquiries before they confirm their reservations, I can see we sent you the below message on the 6th June at 11.28am; “All our drinking areas are a base for the evening (we aim to seat 1 in 5 people but this is not a guarantee and are free of charge however we do require your card details in order to confirm your booking. Please note that no charges will be made & we only charge your credit card in case of no show or a 20% drop in numbers (£5 per person). All booking amendments and cancellations must be done no less than 24 hours prior to the booking.” You then called us and left your card details to confirm your reservation. As you can see, the email above clearly states that we only aim to seat 1 in 5. Therefore, you would have been completely aware that this was our policy both before leaving your card details and also on arrival as this is repeated in the T&CS laid out in your confirmation email. I went to chat to our floor manager to see if there was anything we could do for your party. I then offered you a brand new space in the venue and offered to add 7 chairs (so that all of our guests could be seated, as you requested). You then said not to worry and you would keep the space you already had and thanked me for looking. We are a live music party venue and encourage all of our guests to be up and dancing around the stage. All of our guests are treated exactly the same and we follow the exact same policies regardless of occasion or money spent on the evening. Our bar food does freeze on busier evenings between 7pm and 9pm, this is so that we can focus on the large amount of dinner reservations booked in. On the night you visited we had 3 large dinner groups booked in for our 7pm sitting, so we made the decision to freeze the bar food in order to accommodate this. This was a decision that was made on the evening which is why you would not have been warned about this prior to your reservation. I’m glad that you enjoyed our concept and our musicians, earlier in the week (Mondays and Tuesdays) may be more suitable for your party as often on our quieter nights we are able to offer additional seating and our bar food very rarely freezes between 7pm and 9pm. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss further. Best wishes, Daisy

Really fun night. Staff are attentive and the live music is really energetic and impressive. It's a shame that we could not have differing numbers of courses because we had a large group with varying appetites and some wanted dessert and some didn't. It was made quite clear from the beginning that we could all only have 2 courses or 3 courses and in the end it was likely possible for people who wanted one to have a dessert at the end. Otherwise, the drinks service was very good and the overall entertainment and service should be commended. A great night for a hen do! visited The Piano Works on 03 Jun 2017

Thank you for your lovely feedback. I'm glad you had a great pre wedding party with us. We do ask that your guests have the same number of courses to ensure the smooth running of our dinner service. When you would like to come back and visit us again, please be sure to get in touch and we can plan your party for you! Best wishes, Daisy

Really loved the piano players and being able to request songs! Also really loved the food. Only thing is we were put in a really dark corner and could barely see our food! But would definitely go again :) Louisa visited The Piano Works on 03 Jun 2017

I had my birthday party at Piano Works on friday n a reserved area (in the side party area). I had a very good experience all throughout the booking experience, a very good deal for the evening and a fantastic allocated barman for the evening. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend this venue for parties. Many thanks to the staff! visited The Piano Works on 02 Jun 2017

I wanted to give it a 5 but couldn't... we booked for the 7pm-9pm slot, the waitress didn't take our full food order so decided to choose a starter for my friend that she didn't want, when we asked our waitress to take the starter back she said her manager would moan at her as she already started her shift 2 hours late. I don't think she understood that she should have asked us what we wanted instead of deciding for us and then trying to make us feel bad for her mistake. Our mains arrived super late, the dessert two of us ordered was a tiramisu but instead we got some sort of coconut and pineapple trifle. When we told one of the waiters we got the wrong dessert He told us that it was in fact a version of their tiramisu. They supposedly adapted it as their customers complained about not being able to sleep after having a caffeinated dessert haha!!!!! How about tell us this when we ordered our dessert. We were then told very nicely to pay up and leave our booth as our time was up... even though the food was late and the order was wrong. I would say that the experience of the live music and atmosphere is great but do not bother eating there. The service was shoddy. visited The Piano Works on 02 Jun 2017
