Description

London’s only non-stop live music venue, where in-house musicians take centre stage and only play songs requested by the audience!

Located in a listed Victorian basement, The Piano Works can be found hidden in the heart of Farringdon.

Enter this House of Song, write your music requests on cocktail napkins and hand to your waiter or the musicians to be performed. Drink from a classically strange selection of cocktails and hand selected wines, eat from a steak menu or selection of bar food, tip a human jukebox, sing your heart out and dance to your favourite songs from dusk 'til dawn.

Part bar, part restaurant, part concert, part party.

The audience decides the repertoire in the #HouseofSong!

Drink, Sing, Eat, Dance, and Tip a human jukebox!

Food was nice but treated like we were going into a club at midday - bags searched (including opening up our overnight bags in front of other guests) - we are all for security but it just seemed a little too much. We had two people of our group who were ill and couldn’t come and despite them ringing first thing to explain they couldn’t come, a £10 deposit was charged to the card on the booking even though there were still 7 people in the group and the venue wasn’t busy at all so it wasn’t like they could have sold those seats to someone else. Live music was really good and different although at times so loud and with the feedback from the speakers you couldn’t talk to each other or hear your waiter! Hi there, we are a live music venue so our brunch can be very lively and concert like! We have a duty of care to all our guests and operate bag searches for all customers on the door as part of our safety procedure. You are welcome to bring luggage into the venue and we operate a free cloakroom to safeguard your belongings during your visit. Brunch has a 48 hour cancellation policy as stated in our terms and conditions and in your confirmation email. We charge for any drop outs or no-shows within the 48 hour period and this is made clear upon booking when you leave your card details with us to confirm your reservation. We're glad you enjoyed our live music and we will take your feedback on board for future reviews. We hope to see you again!

My first time visiting this venue and I loved it! A friend and I went for brunch with bottomless prosecco. The entertainment was fantastic, great atmosphere, the staff very friendly and attentive (special thank you to Jacob!) and great value for money. Definitely a venue to try out for a catch up with friends or a date. Yasmin visited The Piano Works on 19 Nov 2017

Horrible experience. Violent and aggressive staff. After being mistakenly identified as a guest that had caused trouble, from the dance floor I was forced towards a fire exit which was out of view of the cctv cameras. Before being pushed in I noticed a group of aggressive bouncers standing inside a fire exit corridor waiting. After demanding to leave via a public exit in view of the cctv cameras the staff reluctantly agreed. I sincerely hope nobody else is falsely accused by the dishonest predatory staff employed here as if I had not foreseen their attempt to take me into a CCTV black spot I could have easily been assaulted with no evidence to prove otherwise.

Hi Lewis, We have received your review via multiple platforms. Please see our response below after speaking with both members of management working on this evening. You came to our venue on 18th November 2017. Whilst here with your group of friends, you inappropriately touched a member of our bar staff which was reported to our security team immediately. Due to the busy environment of our venue at weekends, our security team guided you to the nearest fire exit to speak with you about the incident. All of our fire exits are covered by security cameras and we have footage regarding this incident. The fire exit you are describing is a corridor with a set of stairs that leads up to the main entrance of the venue where you would have originally entered. We have cameras covering the entire exit and surrounding areas. Our head of security spoke with you to let you know that this behaviour was unacceptable but you denied all knowledge of the event. We also spoke with other members of your party regarding the incident but all knowledge was denied. After a discussion, we let you back into the venue to continue your night. At approximately 11:45pm our security were called to attend to a fight that you were involved with. At this time, we attempted to escort you out of the same fire exit as previously described as you posed a threat to other guests in the venue. Other security were on hand near the exit at this point as you had demonstrated aggressive behaviour inside the venue. You refused to be led through the exit so our security staff agreed to lead you through the crowd and up the main entrance. For security reasons, all fire exits are covered by CCTV, and the vast majority of our security team wear body cameras to record audio and visuals for events like this for evidence should it be required. We have a duty of care to all our customers and will remove any guest who poses a threat. Both managers working on the evening were present at the time of your ejection from the venue and can further confirm the events that took place. We take all feedback very seriously and on this occasion find your accusational comments to be threatening and unfair. If you have any further comments, please email hello@pianoworks.bar

Great idea and great fun. Huge issue with bar & bar staff. No idea what they are doing, made worse by 'bar managers' on a power trip, not allowing the staff get on with their job. Managers also rude and arrogant. Very disappointing.

Overall i had a good night but most of the group i was with didn't agree and actually called to complain about how rude the staff was the next day. I really enjoyed the brunch and band, food was nice and they constantly topped up prosecco. I booked this over 2 month prior to the date and asked to book a drink table for after the brunch, our brunch was 2-4. on the phone she told me i couldn't book any table for after we just had to go in the bar. when calling up the week of the brunch to confirm i asked about the drinks tables, The lady told me that they was all booked up. at 4 we moved to a table that was free next to us. we got asked to move at 4:10 for a booking at 5, there was a group of 11 of us, i asked if we could stay to 4:30 to finish our drinks then move to the bar, they said no. we found a table in the bar area with no booked label on it. at 9 we got moved off it again. by the point half of the group had left as we kept getting moved from table to table visited The Piano Works on 11 Nov 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Hi there, we also received you email to our hello@pianoworks.bar account which we have responded and addressed the issues you raised. All of our tables would have been reserved for the evening and we don't book areas for after brunch as our evening is a separate sitting. Whilst you were able to find tables available, we cannot offer these to customers as they have been reserved for later in the night and we need to have them ready for when the bookings arrive. Our property control would have been concerned for your friend's coat and would have put this into the cloakroom as lost property. Unfortunately in this instance somebody else on the day had lost coat with a similar description and accidentally claimed your coat. They have since been in touch and have said they will return the coat to us next week. We're apologise for the mix up but as we were not aware who owned the coat we were unable to distinguish the correct owner until now as it was not left in our cloakroom with a ticket. Please get in touch if you have further queries. Best wishes, Leilani

My first time here - brought a group of friends. Really enjoyable. Food, service and music good. Only downside was that our table was near the bar and was in a draught. visited The Piano Works on 14 Nov 2017

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We're glad you enjoyed our concept and we hope to see you again. When making my booking you asked if I had any special requests. I advised you that it was my boyfriends birthday and anything you could do to make it special would be appreciated. Our table was booked for 7pm and on arrival I was informed my table was not ready and wasn't actually seated until 19:30. I was seated next to the toilets where it was extremely cold! I informed the waiter on three different occasions that we were very cold and asked them to turn the air con off and each time was ignored. When it came to 9pm we was asked to leave our table to which I refused and had to quote your website that if a customer is late to their table due to the previous table not finishing in time that we will still be granted our 2 hours. Overall I felt cold, rushed and was fed up of the people constantly walking past into the toilet (my frustration hit it's limit when two young males walked past and took a chip off my plate). I had high expectations and was overall very disappointed. visited The Piano Works on 11 Nov 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Hi there, we're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience. You were seated in our raised area which overlooks the stage. You expressed you weren't happy with your table but unfortunately we were unable to move you on this occasion as we were fully booked. The temperature of the venue is monitored closely however this was an exceptionally cold day outside. Our air conditioning wasn't on but our air circulation system may have been the cause of the chill you felt. We appreciate this feedback and we'll take this on board for future improvements. Our manager on the evening tried to improve your experience by offering you complimentary drinks, but you refused his offerings. We're sorry you were disappointed with your visit but felt as though your mind was made up from your initial upset with your table space. Best wishes, Leilani

Terrible service... terrible food. Really disappointed after hearing lots of good reviews. Didn’t come over to take our order until 12.15 so we lost 15 mins of our drinking time then didn’t keep people’s glasses topped up... had to keep chasing waiters for a drink & their answer was the drink isn’t chilled yet sorry.. you’d think they’d of chilled it before people arrived or given ice buckets. Defiantly not our idea of “unlimited” This will defiantly be a Birthday I won’t forget for all the wrong reasons.. visited The Piano Works on 11 Nov 2017

We had a most amazing night for my special birthday and having never been to the Piano Works before me and my 12 guests couldn't have picked anywhere better. The meal was delicious enjoyed by all, our requests were played by the superb pianists and the music entertainment all in all was of such a high quality. It was like going to dinner, a gig and a club all in one and no wonder there were queues around the block. Special thanks to Daisy, Suki for organising everything beforehand and Michael on the night for looking after us all. Keeping music live and Flawless! xx visited The Piano Works on 03 Nov 2017

My 30th birthday booked over 4months ago... it started off a disaster!! Our table for 19 was amongst everybody in the club some of who were already drunk, a glass of champagne was knock off a table all down my friends back and over his food, people were putting drinks down on our table whilst trying to eat dinner, I did not enjoy the dinner experience at all and would only return for drinks. I had also reserved a drinks area for us all months ago, again was very disappointed where they tried to put us, near the toilets off the main floor away from the atmosphere... afterall that’s what we came for. I felt it put a bad mood on my night and I spent the rest of the evening hoping everyone was enjoying themselves... not what I wanted to be honest especially for my 30th. I understand the clubs set up however if your going to cater for large parties you need to ensure we haven’t got passers by asking how our soup is!! Or don’t cater for large parties if you can not control this! As I’ve said I would return for drinks as the atmosphere and entertainment was good once I managed to forget the awful start of my night. I appreciate the staff tried to rectify our bad start however as you can appreciate it’s hard to lighten the mood when it doesn’t start off well. Maybe something g to think about for the future.... visited The Piano Works on 04 Nov 2017

Hi there, we do not condone the use of your rude and aggressive language. It is stated very clearly online and across our social media that we close every night of the week at 1am. If you were on our 11pm friends list, your confirmation email states our 1am closure. We do not have a last entry as we do not wish to close the door to anyone wanting to join us on any night. Our drinks are never watered down and are priced competitively for the local area. If you'd like to provide more information about your encounter with our staff, we'd be happy to investigate this. We arrived on time for our booking @ 7pm was only seated at 7:30pm the table area was small and uncomfortable with only a few seats almost on top of one another, orders a lamb steak, it arrived cold with chips no source was very dry and tough seating was booked till 9pm manage to finish some of our food before the very loud music started at 8:30 and any conversation was down to lip reading and hand gestures the bill came to £65 for two meals lamb and chips..we were robbed , we then moved over to the bar area it was very crowded, not sure who done the head count at the door....getting a drink was almost impossible and managed to get some 30min later ...needless to say drank it and left..... visited The Piano Works on 28 Oct 2017

Really disappointed with our visit on Saturday. I had reserved an area which was tucked away off the main room on the way to the toilets - no viability of the band and the sound didn’t carry well to that area so no atmosphere. The place was packed so the queues for the bar were super long. There was table service but average wait for drinks we ordered was more than half an hour. We then tried to order some bottles of prosecco to the table - order came 40 minutes later and was wrong, took a further half an hour to speak to a manager about the issues and when offered to sort it we decided another wait for something to drink wasn’t worth it so left to go somewhere else. So disappointing and will not be coming back. visited The Piano Works on 28 Oct 2017

Being kicked off our table after spending over £300 and still buying drinks at the bar. To be told someone has reserved it after us for 9pm, it's now 10.30pm and there's no sign of this reservation. I did ask if the waitress before kicking us off if she could find us somewhere so we could at least put our drink on another table, not helpful at all. Food and entertainment great but am very disappointed with the overall experience. visited The Piano Works on 25 Oct 2017

Hi there, Our dinner tables are available for 2 hour sittings, regardless of spend. A 7pm dinner sitting has the table until 9pm when you have the option to move to the bar. The table would have been booked by another party at 9pm for after your reservation. If the party were running late, the table would have remained vacant but would still need to be set up ready for the arrival. We're sorry on this occasion you were disappointed with your visit, but if you'd like to book a drinks table with us next time, this area remains yours for the evening.

"Brunch" was actually just breakfast options, no lunch. Menu was limited and food was mediocre. Depressing basement and the band played all the requested songs with a sad, slow beat rather than a happy/upbeat tempo. Service was great, didn't have to keep asking for refills for bottomless drinks. visited The Piano Works on 22 Oct 2017

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Brunch to us is breakfast at lunchtime, so most of our dishes are brunch classics such as eggs benedict. Our menus are available online to see ahead of booking. Thank you for your feedback on the music. We have listened our customers and have since decided to bring our full band on an hour earlier to up the tempo. Thanks for your kind comments about the service, we hope you'll give us another try in the future!

Entertainment is fab, however such a shame about the service. We were told that we could only have unlimited processco if the whole table ordered for £20 per head. We had our meal during happy hour, which a bottle of Prosecco was cheaper during that time anyway. The waiter didn't point that out to us. You have a choice of two course or three course meal. My friend wanted main and desert. The waiter said they can't do desert for one person. We complained. There was no valid reason why not. The food was actually really nice and the evening was great just a shame about the waitress. visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our live music! We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your service. Although a bottle of prosecco is £15 in cocktail hour, this is just for the singular bottle. Our bottomless option allows for you to have the freedom of more than one bottle for the duration of a 2 hour period if preferred, but this is not compulsory. We're sorry your friend couldn't order dessert on the evening, this may have been due to the 2 hour table time coming to a close and we would have needed to have the table ready for the next party. If you'd like to get in touch with more information so we can look into this further for you, please send an email to hello@pianoworks.bar - thank you.

The entertainment was absolute class and definitely 5 stars. The food was also very good, so no complaints on food or entertainment. The service however and the way guests are treated is pretty shocking! We had to ask numerous times for the Prosecco that was included in the package to arrive - it eventually came halfway through the main. I guess they try and get away with "forgetting" to bring it out. The drinks took forever to come out! And I mean forever .. One of our guests has a nut allergy and was asked to sign a disclaimer which I thought was shocking! How can you ask someone to sign something like that! Fine you cannot guarantee a trace of nuts, but to ask someone to sign a piece of paper saying should they have an allergy, you can't be liable I think is pretty low! A small print at the bottom of the menu is sufficient. We ordered sweet potato fries and got normal fries Now, all of these things could have been forgotten if the following hadn't happened; The wait at the bar is absolutely ridiculous and when you get there, the prices are insane!! £51 for 5 drinks is a joke for that standard of venue! I'm guessing they are adding a service charge which is a disgrace. A service charge for waiting 20 minutes at the bar! One person was on the bar for a queue of 30 plus people all ordering cocktails! And the bouncers around are so rude and bossy, it's more like you are an inconvenient "child" rather than a welcomed paying guest. This could be a fantastic place but it's let down by shocking service, rude staff and pure greediness. visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our live music concept and thank you for your kind words. I felt the concept of the venue was great! My main disappointment is allowing people who are just drinking to stand in the areas where people are eating. It really ruined the experience for me. I think people should be allowed to move into those areas when the the food is stopped being served at 9pm not before. There is so much potential to really create a unique experience. visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are an open plan 400 capacity venue and unfortunately we don't have a separate restaurant area. All our tables are suitable for either dinner or drinks depending on the bookings we have in. We try to be as inclusive and immersive as possible, but we're sorry to hear this wasn't to your expectations. If you'd like to give us another chance on a quieter night earlier in the week, we'll be happy to accommodate you.

Disappointing, not one request from our table was played, and they was well known songs, that was supposed to be a big part of the evening, was told by one manager, sorry very busy that's why!!!!! Really Karen thurston visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Hi Karen, With hundreds of people coming through the doors requesting songs throughout the evening, unfortunately we can't guarantee that every song requested is played. Our musicians do try to get through as many possible, and a tip will help boost your song up the request pile. We're sorry that your requests weren't played on this occasion.

We left after one drink as the table you put us on was facing the wall, next to the toilet, no way near the piano room. The beer tasted like poison too. Shame as the piano room looked decent. For us it should of just been called the room. visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Hi there, We don't have separate rooms, we are an open plan venue with a 400 person capacity. We have learnt from previous experiences that small dinners like to be in an area away from the stage in order to provide a comfortable dining experience. Did you address this with a member of the team to see if we could perhaps swap tables? In regards to the beer, could you please also let us know the beer you were drinking and if you raised this with a manager on the day so we could investigate for quality control? If you could please get in touch by sending an email to hello@pianoworks.bar with further detail, we'll get back to you soon.

Fantastic service by our server Ella, our glasses were never empty! Food was excellent too! The live bands playing bring great atmosphere to the venue, very talented musicians. Only note - most brunch spots in London let you swap between the types of alcohol on the boozey brunch option. Especially as they are the same price! visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Overall a fairly enjoyable meal however there were a few things which weren't ideal. When we got there clearly the tailends of the unlimited prosecco brunch were still there as it was more like a raucous uni night out than a pleasant eating experience. Everyone was plastered and there were even people being sick outside the venue. Luckily they were kicked out by 5:30pm. Also two of our party were late due to the tubes being cancelled and I asked several times whether their food could be kept in the kitchen and brought out when they arrived but this was refused and I was told the kitchen can't keep food - I asked if at least their steaks could be brought out later but they just dumped them on the table so they were freezing cold when they arrived. I found the staff very unhelpful in this regard considering we had the table for two hours, I don't see why all the food had to be brought out at 5:15pm. Apart from that it was fine but I wouldn't come back or recommend to others if I'm honest. visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Dreadful! Service! It was the slowest I've ever encountered. We booked a table for 7pm but didn't get menus until 7.40pm. We complained and got 25% taken off the bill before our meals came as we were so frustrated. Then it all just got worse! Steaks turned up med-rare when we asked for well done so one was sent back - the other one we kept as I was just so hungry. Other people's meals were ok but it was so ridiculously hard to get served drinks The deal included a glass of fizz but the waiter forgot that. We reminded him and he gave us a little bit that was left in a bottle he found somewhere but we quickly pointed out that that would not be enough for 7 glasses!! By the end of the meal a friend wanted to choose her dessert as part of the 2 courses offer and the waiter said she couldn't have it as the 2 hour slot for the table booking was over!! He then charged her for two courses anyway!! Utterly awful and to top it all off this was actually my birthday meal!! visited The Piano Works on 14 Oct 2017

Way too many rules about eating - HAD to have 2 courses (even when happy to pay for 2 and have 1), HAD to order straightaway, HAD to have the "free" glass of blush......and you need about triple the bar staff or stop doing cocktails. Queued for 40 mins to get drinks, Didn't bother after that so you lost loads of money! visited The Piano Works on 13 Oct 2017

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave us some feedback. Our dinner is a set steak menu of either 2 or 3 courses with a glass of sparkling wine. All dinner reservations are required to order from our set menu and this is stated at the time of booking. We do not have an a la carte menu, so 2 courses is the minimum option we provide. You're welcome to not eat one course, or not drink the glass of wine if you wish. We do however, like to provide what we offer and wouldn't wish anyone to feel undersold. We do get very busy at weekends and apologise for any wait in service. As we're aware that cocktails take a while to make, we keep one of our bars as spirit, beer and wine bar only, so cocktails will only be available at the other two bars. The wait is usually shorter at the due to this. If you have any further comments, please send an email to hello@pianoworks.bar - thank you.

The whole ordeal just to get into Piano Works for my own birthday and my guests was incredibly frustrating. The bouncers need to get of their high horses and direct people who are guests to a private party firstly to the correct queue and promptly . My guests were also made to wait in the incorrect queue and therefore missed the priority entry period and were then expected to pay for entrance! Once inside the venue however, I had a fantastic time ! Thank you Piano Works and to the staff inside who made my birthday incredible. I would have given 5 stars had it not of been for your rude and unprofessional doormen. We had a booking for 7pm and we were told it didn't matter we still had to line up which defeats the object of a booking. They had no patience and no people skills to answer or accomodate any questions asked politely by myself, partner who's 28th birthday it was and is 3months pregnant with our first child or any other customer. Eventually were let in 30mins later. Once we were in we were greated by a lady who took us to our table. I wanted to complain to her about being 30mins late getting in but my partner told me not to so I left it. Starter and main was amazing and the floor staff were nothing but accommodating to myself and my partner the whole evening that we were dining at the table. In future could you make clear exactly the point of booking a table if we have to stand outside in the rain for 30mins and can you kindly put your doormen on some sort of people skills training as they obviously weren't happy being there nor were they interested in helping any customers besides shouting and being aggressive to all that were waiting. We attended piano works Saturday 30th September for a 7pm booking. Kind regards Mr Ramos visited The Piano Works on 30 Sep 2017

We did arrive slightly late to our reservation but did advise this over the phone as we were stuck at a funeral, which was an unplanned event. Our reservation was at 7 but we advised we may be 30/40 mins late, as we didn't want to loose our table. We did however get there at 7:20pm but the bouncer wouldn't let us through we did say we are expected but he made us queue for 15 mins. We got a call from the restaurant asking if we were still coming and we said we were queuing and the bouncer won't let us in for our reservation. She came to the door and explained then to the bouncer who then said we could go to our table. Once at our table we were then told because of the time we couldn't order the desert. We did order food but the steak was awful and burnt and there was soo many people crammed into the bar area that whilst eating we had people bashing into us and spilling drinks while we tried to eat. I felt as though the table was needed even though we booked till 9 and the staff were tidying away our food quicker than we could eat it. Our waiter however was great!! We did request a song and put in £5 but it wasn't played, I had 9 other guests coming for drinks but decided it was to busy and couldn't enjoy it so left and went to another bar. visited The Piano Works on 29 Sep 2017

Great for a group night out! Booked a table (for drinks from 9pm onwards on a Friday night) for a large group for a birthday night out. They only guarantee a small table with a few chairs, however, when we turned up we had huge area of tables and seating! We had queue jump and free entry for our whole group (usually a long queue and £10 entry) - they also brought out a cake and prosecco... all for no cost at all. The only money we spent was on drinks at the bar. The live music and song request on a napkin system was great fun - whole group thoroughly enjoyed the night, would recommend!

Awful night. Place is dark and dingy full up with drunk women falling all over the place at 5pm! Was shown to our table under freezing cold air con. Was told we could order from the bar menu as there is not a lot of choice on the set menu for the manager to come over and say we wasn't allowed. Order not taken till half hour after we arrived. We had to wait an hour for drinks so do not order the bottomless prosecco as it would not be worth it and an hour and a half for food to be thrown off our table half an hour later regardless that we hadn't finished our food! Was overcharged by £25 and it was only because I studied the bill after we had paid I realised as it didn't seem to add up! Song requests not played. Bouncers speak to you like shit went out for a fag and he wouldn't let me back in all because I walked the wrong way round the barrier. Great night however queue system to enter is a bit frustrating. Too many people on guest list mean that normal queue barely moves. Understand there needs to be a guestlist and they should have priority but maybe don't have so many people on it. visited The Piano Works on 22 Sep 2017

Hello, we don't actually operate a guest list but instead have something called a 'friends list'. This gives anyone on it a discount on entry, but not a queue jump. The only guests that receive priority entry are those with bookings. We always try to get all guests in as quickly as possible, but time is taken for security checks and the queue may need to be paused for those who have booked for dinner or drinks. If you'd like to visit us again, we advise arriving before 8pm on most nights to beat the line :)

My friends and I had such a great time at TPW for my work leaving do! The service was superb, as always, the drinks and food excellent, and of course the musicians outstanding! Real fun all over! The highlight: the birthday board, that we all posed in front! What a laugh! visited The Piano Works on 20 Sep 2017

Night was almost ruined by the Bouncers. They kept on saying they have a queueing policy without really explaining it. I called up beforehand and was told between 8-9pm the average wait time was 10-15 mins. Instead we were left waiting for around 45 minutes while we saw all the table people go in. When we got in, it really wasn't that busy. visited The Piano Works on 16 Sep 2017

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We do get very busy on the weekend. Entry is only guaranteed with a reservation and it is not always possible to predict how long the wait can be. At 9pm we remove a lot of furniture from the venue which would explain why there was plenty of space inside however we do have to keep space for our guests who have booked in advance to arrive for their reservations. I would be more than happy to get you booked in ahead of your next visit so that your party will have priority entry. Please feel free to get in touch. The music and the band were absolutely fantastic however I will never eat there again. The set menu is either 2 or 3 courses, we were told as they were busy we could only have 2 courses and of the 2 the whole party had to either have starter/main or desert and main. We were then told as it was busy they were no longer doing desert. The service wasn't great, we were rushed and plates were cleared whilst people were still eating. visited The Piano Works on 08 Sep 2017

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, nice prosecco, food.. just bad. It was not fresh, did not smell appetising, there was not one bit of it that was tasty (we ordered eggs royale and avocado on the side). It was a bottomless brunch and we ended up focusing on the drinks, so it wasn't the most terrible experience, however we would definitely not attempt food in the Piano Works again. Back for some drinks and music? Yes. visited The Piano Works on 03 Sep 2017

A great night out - loved the drinks, food and the music was brilliant as always. The only disappointing aspect was I reserved an area for 20 people and whilst I don't expect 20 seats, we had a small table with four chairs. The drinks and food didn't even fit! Aside from that, everyone had a great night and our bride to be was treated like a queen! visited The Piano Works on 01 Sep 2017

Thank you very much for sending over your feedback to us, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed your evening with us and that the bride to be had a fab pre wedding party! As we a live music venue, we keep seating to a minimum as we want to encourage everyone to be up and dancing! We do aim to seat 1 in 5, so for a group of 20, a table with 4 chairs is correct and what we let all of our reservations know prior to their party. We look forward to seeing you again soon, feel free to get in touch when you would like to visit us again and we would be more than happy to plan your party for you. Best wishes, Daisy

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant. This was my first visit and I was really impressed with the music. However; I haven't rated it higher as I did email Piano works on two occasions stating that we were celebrating my mum's 50th. They said that they couldn't do a cake (although during the night we noticed that someone did have a cake from them and it was brought out especially) but they could do a shout out. I provided the details and we were there from 5-11pm and no shout out! We also did a couple of song requests with a generous tip and we made a note that it was our mum's 50th but again, nothing! Disappointed with this as there was a hen party there and someone celebrating their 30th and they seemed to get a lot of attention and shout outs! This was a shame as we actually spent a lot of money on foos and drinks all night! Unfortunately we won't be visiting again for a "special occasion". Natalie-Ann visited The Piano Works on 26 Aug 2017

Reply from The Piano Works

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and for your compliments regarding our food and musicians, this is great to hear. We bring out our celebration boards and our musicians sing a birthday and pre wedding song for every person celebrating on the night, as we can have up to around 400 people in the venue we unfortunately, can’t do personal shout outs to individual guests who are celebrating an occasion with us. We do offer birthday cakes for parties, these were the cakes you could see being taken over to tables, these can either be pre purchased by the party or are offered complimentary to drinks tables of 15 or more. These cakes aren’t available for dinner reservations or smaller groups. I’m sorry that your song requests weren’t played on the night, our musicians do receive an incredibly high volume and try their best to get through as many as they can throughout the evening. I hope that these issues didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that you were able to enjoy our live musicians and atmosphere for the rest of your stay. The food was very average, but the bottomless prosecco came out fairly quickly and our dinner waitress was very accomodating. Dinner is served on bar tables, and there's a bit of a sticky floor/boozey pub smell vibe. I went for my birthday night out but it was cut short and ruined after being kicked out by overly aggressive bouncers at 7.15pm. Our small group of 4 were joined by another group of friends after our dinner at around 7pm. The other group were accused of 'spinning around on chairs' and 'antagonising the bouncers' none of this I saw, but fair enough they were kicked out (no huge deal, they'd just arrived). One of my friends who was sitting with them, but not involved in the chair spinning, walked away and went to the loo as the others were asked to leave. He was accused of 'running away' from the bouncers - NOT TRUE - because I was there and saw him calmly walk to the loo. Needless to say he was grabbed around the neck by a bouncer about 3 x the size of him and aggressively removed from the club. Incredibly disappointing after spending a lot of money eating dinner, and ordering the bottomless prosecco each and for a special occasion. The bouncer did calm down after I spoke to him for about 30 mins, but by this point my friend was understandably embarassed and fuming and not wanting to continue our night inside where he'd just been forceably removed for doing nothing. I won't be recommending this to place to anyone in the future, one big let down. visited The Piano Works on 19 Aug 2017

I have booked a table of 15 people and therefore was prepared to spend serious money on the night. Myself and my guest were left quite disappointed once we have realised the area that was booked for us was practically speaking in the middle of the dance floor where everyone was leaving their drinks. The security team was pretty useless in clearing the are to let us enjoy our table. Also the table was more for 8-10 people, not 15 which i was very clearly indicated many weeks beforehand. The music on the night was OK, but not great. 4 of my guests have left when then saw the area that was booked for us and heard the music that was playing!! Far too many birthday and hen do parties squeezed in a relatively small area. Myself and one other girl at our table was pregnant and that was the whole point of booking a private area. I spoke to the manager about it but he has done nothing to improve the situation. The table we were given didn't make us feel safe or comfortable with all the people pushing us around and trying to use our table. I will not be going back to Piano Works soon. I wouldn't recommend it as a good venue for memorable party unless all you want is a cheap night out with very cheesy music. visited The Piano Works on 12 Aug 2017

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. All of our tables are free of charge and the main benefit of booking one is to have a base for the evening along with receiving free and priority entry for your entire party saving in your case, £150 on entry fees. When booking a table, it is made very clear that we aim to seat 1 in 5 guests so you would have been aware that you would receive a maximum of 3 seats. The venue holds up to 400 people who come to enjoy our nonstop live music, to dance & sing rather than be seated for the evening. As this is the case we reduce the amount of the furniture in the venue to make it safer for everyone visiting. You mentioned booking a private area however this is not something we offer to groups of 15. Our booking types are either dinner or drinks tables with room hire only being offered Monday to Thursday for groups of 80 people. The atmosphere in the venue is no doubt lively and we fully encourage all guests to enjoy themselves while requesting songs. We do always aim to accommodate all guests however in some cases it is better to visit early week when it is less busy but you can still enjoy live music. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at The Piano Works. Kind regards, Nicola

Our table was booked from 2-4pm for a bottomless brunch - we arrived on time and our table wasn't ready so we didn't get seated until 2:30pm. As soon as we sat down, we were rushed to order our food and as soon as we finished our food, the waitress immediately brought us our bill even though we had be sat for approx 30 mins. Around 3:45 the waitress came and said we would have to leave the table soon as it needed to be ready for another booking. We informed her we sat down half an hour late due to no fault of our own, therefore we should be allowed our full 2 hours. The waitress was very rude, interrupting us when we tried to explain. Eventually she decided to actually listen to us and understood we wanted to stay until 4:30 so we could experience the full 2 hours. All in all, it was a bit of a joke the whole thing, as they couldn't wait to get us out of there and customer service was non existence. visited The Piano Works on 12 Aug 2017

First time at Piano Works, Farringdon, this week. Was impressed with the welcome and also the waiter who greeted us and allowed us to move to a table where the view to the stage wasn't obscured by a big, black pillar. The piano players in attendance before the band turned up were great and played a song that was requested by myself, with aplomb! As the night progressed and the arrival of the band was much anticipated, the venue had an incredible turnout and once the band took stage and the requests poured in, they only played the song requests with which they were receiving tips! This was enough to turn the night into a downer. Advice to management, make it fair. What's right is right. visited The Piano Works on 09 Aug 2017

Thank you for taking the time to send us over your feedback. I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time at The Piano Works that our staff were accommodating, our hosts were welcoming and friendly and that our musicians played your song requests. This is why we’re slightly surprised at the 1 star review. As you could probably see, once the evening progresses, the venue gets full and there is more of a gig vibe. Firstly, once the full 6 piece band are on stage, our musicians choose requests that can delivered well and are suitable for a full band, some songs simply only sound the best they can when you have two pianos and some with the full band. We can have up to 400 people in the venue on our busier nights, because of this our musicians are inundated with song requests from the audience, our musicians will prioritise those with tips. Any amount is welcome. We also make this clear on our website, Eat, Drinks, Dance, Sing, Tip! We really hope that this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that all the other aspects of The Piano Works helped you to have an enjoyable night. Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss further. All the best, Daisy

My experience was great. We had organised a surprise birthday party and two of our guests were arriving late. I had told the staff of this, but the two people were still charged at the door. When I called up to complain about this after the event I was told the matter would be escalated and I would get a call back. This, to date has however not happened. Its quite frankly really pathetic aftercare/customer service but the music, food and drink was all good! visited The Piano Works on 08 Jul 2017

Hi Nadia, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and thank you for your compliments regarding our music and venue, we’re glad that you enjoyed our concept. As discussed on the phone, you had a reservation with us at 7.30pm, with this reservation we offer 1 hours free and priority entrance into the venue for all of your guests. This is explained before confirming, then again in your confirmation email, we also call all of our reservations on the day to reconfirm all details, where our priority and free entrance policy would have been explained. The reason we offer free and priority entrance for an hour and not for the whole evening is because we have walk in customers too, it wouldn’t be fair to expect those people to wait outside for the majority of their evening while we prioritise reservations who arrive at different points throughout the entire evening, and after their allocated time. You confirmed to me on the phone that your guests arrived after 8.30pm, after your 1 hours free and priority entrance, and so they were charged the £10 door fee. I passed on your comments to our floor team however, there is nothing that we could do after this. Your guests were charged as they arrived after your free and priority slot. This is something that you would have been made aware of before arriving to The Piano Works. Again, I’m really pleased that you enjoyed your evening and we were able to deliver a successful party for you, I hope that this didn’t put too much of a dampener on your evening and that you will visit us again soon. Best wishes, Daisy

What a fabulous place!! Last weekend I had the delight of the Piano Works bottomless brunch (2pm-4pm) and it was great! I loved the fact the prosecco was left on the table, the brunch selection is seriously tasty and the music/atmosphere is so fun, the live band are phenomenal! The only thing stopping this be a 5/5 star is the service was slow and at some points the music was very loud. (I know this is the point of the place) and by all means not a bad thing, but it was hard to talk which we didn't realise was going to be the case. Apart from that, this place is a must do!!

Ahh great feedback! Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know how much you loved our venue! We are launching our Sunday brunch on the 27th August, our full band will come on stage at 4pm, rather than 1pm which may suit your party a little more? Let me know and i would be delighted to book you a table. My email address is daisy@pianoworks.bar

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Piano Works. While we enjoyed the food, cocktails and entertainment, the service was diabolical. There was not enough staff to deal with the number of customers there, which is ridiculous given that bookings are taken in advance. We arrived just before 5pm for our booking and were shown to our table even though it had not yet been set for us (no cutlery or menus). No-one came to set it whilst we were sat there and this led to confusion amongst the staff, with a waitress taking our initial drinks order but not coming back to our table for our food order. We spoke to a different member of staff at 5.30pm as we could not find our waitress and stated we were concerned that our order had not yet been taken and we only had the table for another hour and a half. We eventually got served and had our starters and mains. The waitress took our dinner plates away around 6.15pm but didn’t come back to ask if we wanted dessert. We tried to look out for her as we were again concerned about the time. She eventually came back to our table at 6.40pm and just told us that we were too late to have a dessert when we asked if we could place our order, as the desserts take ages to prepare. This was not our fault and we didn’t even get an apology for the messing around at the start of our booking. We tried to make the staff aware that we were not happy with how we had been treated, but they didn’t seem interested, just wanted us to move off the table. Finally, the bill was incorrect although the waitress did take the correct money and said she will sort it out at the till later. We felt very undervalued and would not recommend this venue due to the bad service. visited The Piano Works on 05 Aug 2017

I organised my best friends hen party here and it was absolutely perfect. The waiter we had (shaved head and glasses) was lovely and very attentive, he made sure we always had water (which was very much needed), the management team were welcoming and professional and the security were courteous and not too pushy. The music was phenomenal- the singers and musicians were just amazing!!! We had a great night. I cannot recommend The Piano Works highly enough. visited The Piano Works on 05 Aug 2017

Very disappointed with the birthday package, that I had to ask where's the balloons and the waiter had no idea very badly organised was suppose to be special for my girls and rediculas amount to pay £40 for two little balloons. The music was good a bit overcrowded. visited The Piano Works on 04 Aug 2017

Food was food and atmosphere was great even on a Tuesday night. Musicians and singers were extremely talented and up to trying out just about any genre which was amazing. Will definitely return the next time we are in London and recommend to friends. visited The Piano Works on 01 Aug 2017
