I’ll cut to the chase early doors; Nightjar is constantly lauded as one of the best, if not the best bar in London. So expectations are always high. I was invited down to try their new cocktail menu and relive the Nightjar experience, which at...
Simply stunning! Went on a Saturday - the bar is beautiful and you feel like you are somehwhere illicit and in the know! incredible live jazz bar and cocktails that will blow your mind!! This is a must!
cosy, pretty, great music and fancifully presented cocktails
To update some of the posts here - there is a cover charge, which they add on - even if you don't stay for the music! It was my first experience of the Nightjar last night - wanted to experience the Piaf tribute as part of the Chanteuse theme. The vernue itself is excellent and the initial service by the Australian waitress was attentive and professional. But it was all downhill from there. When the act came on, it was as if she was expected to perform in the middle of a rugby scrum. The noise of the clientele was off the decibel scale and they showed no repect for the artist. If you expect to listen to the performers, then on this visit, the Nightjar is not a venue for serious music lovers. I had booked this venue for a company outing later this month - this won't be happenning. The food choice was over-priced, and very limited. There was no meat on the menue due to 'issues witht the meat slicer'! Need I say more? We ended up having the bill ammended - no way was I going to pay a cover charge for such an experience. The Manger was very polite and apologetic!
Absolutely loved this bar, a fab speakeasy, greats decor, food & service! The music was brilliant and the cocktail list well all I can say is wow! Loved our night out, can't wait to go back again!
In my opinion the best speakeasy/prohibition theme bar around. Hidden in an unlikely location adds to the allure and the atmosphere and drinks inside are totally in keeping with the theme. Loved my elaborate cocktail which was a relief given the price! Will definitely go back soon.
Quite like this bar.. Really nice decor and barstaff although the drinks are incredibly complex and so I'd recommend asking the barstaff for some advice. Good bar during the week and weekends.
There aren't enough superlatives for how great this bar is!! Yes you have to book a table or you cant get in...but i did a simple online booking here on designmynight and got a table for me and 5 mates and we had the most amazing night! its like a secret hidden drinking den amongst all the horrible hustle and bustle of old street above it! The live jazz music was amazing, the cocktails were absolutely scrummy and the food good too. Just the perfect bar for a proper experience night out when you arent simply out to get hammered but have a memorable night in london. much much recommend. I havent given it 5 stars purely because it is a tad expensive and because it is so booked up in advance! (not thier fault I suppose!)
designmynight managed to hire an area for us for my boyfriends birthday. The place is very swish but relaxed with only seating space available (so make sure you book ahead). Cocktails were tasty and novelty like, with one 'steaming teapot' using dry ice to mesmorise everyone. Great atmosphere. Do it!
Super!!! Went on a saturday night with a group of mates. Had such a cool night. Great live music, sophisticated but fun air and bloody amazing drinks!!!
The only clue that this bar exists is the subtle plaque on the door behind a well dressed gentleman in black! But once you've found it, you are congratulated by intriguingly experimental cocktails including an often overlooked Pina Colada, barrel aged with Nightjar's secret formula.
Cheers for the advice - booked a place on Saturday night. Had a great night. Music amazing and the place is so snugg and cool. I had a cocktail in a massive tankard with a huuuge slab of ginger in! perfection!
Remember to make a booking at this place as you are more than likely to get rejected at the door as they are tight on space and its not a walk in bar. Saying that, its a great space and concept and will be coming back to The NightJar
