If you’re seeking out the best rooftop bar London has to offer, I've created a definitive guide that rounds up the city’s top elevated spots. These personal recommendations combine skyline views of iconic London landmarks - think The Shard, St Paul's Cathedral and the Thames - with exceptional cocktails and food.

I've lived in London for over 30 years, and I remember when rooftop bars were few and far between. Fast forward to today, and the city is spoilt for choice. Having visited more than my fair share over the years, I'm excited to share my tried-and-tested favourites with you.

From City standouts like Florattica with unbeatable views for dates and after-work drinks to DJ-led events at London Bridge Rooftop, here are my favourite rooftop bars in London, in order.

Personally curated by Jasmine Lee Kennedy, Lead Editor. Last updated May 2026. Find out more about how we create our guides in our Editorial Policy.

Top London Rooftop Bars: Chosen By A Local

1. Florattica

  • Location: 11-15 Minories, City of London, EC3N 1AX
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: The Gherkin, the Walkie Talkie building, and The Shard
  • Booking tip: always secure a table, no matter when you're visiting - this spot's popular for after-work drinks with a view
  • Why I recommend: Florattica stands out as one of the great rooftop bars London has to offer. I rate it highly for its genuinely distinctive concept - the silk-weaving inspiration, dramatic floral installations and botanical cocktail direction make it feel considered

Perched high above the City, Florattica is a botanical beauty that I just can't get enough of. Not only does it provide views of the capital's skyline, but it also has a premium menu of creative cocktails and sharing plates, such as charcuterie, salmon tartare and homemade sushi (a personal favourite).

I love that the space takes inspiration from Spitalfields' silk-weaving past, with striking floral installations, intricate patterns, and contemporary lines that give the bar a fresh, creative energy. It's perfect for after-work drinks, weekend catch-ups, or a special night out, with live music and DJs animating the terrace on Friday and Saturday nights.

2. Duck and Waffle London

  • Location: 110 Bishopsgate, 40th Floor, City of London, EC2N 4AY
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: 360-degree panoramas of the London skyline, including Tower Bridge and The Shard
  • Booking tip: it's open 24/7, but don't let that fool you - brunch, sunset and evening slots book out days (sometimes weeks) ahead. Request a window table when booking for those sky-high views
  • Why I recommend: sitting on the 40th floor at 110 Bishopsgate, it offers sweeping views across the City, including Tower Bridge and The Shard. Duck & Waffle is that place for when I want something iconic - few can rival this

Perched on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower, Duck & Waffle is where breathtaking views meet all-hours indulgence at one of the best rooftop bars in the City of London. Whether I'm in the mood for breakfast (my favourite is their signature namesake dish, duck benedict), a Sunday roast, or a chef-curated dinner at any hour, this iconic spot always delivers. The bar's inventive cocktail menu, like the Waffle On The Rocks (made with waffle-flavoured Belvedere vodka) is also a standout.

What makes it so exceptional, in my opinion, is that three of the restaurant's four walls feature floor-to-ceiling windows, making the incredible cityscape the main focal point of the dining room (who needs pictures on the wall when you have The Shard, eh?). I love it when I snag one of the tables next to the window, although there are also second-row booths and seats by the bar that offer similarly awe-inspiring sights. Oh, and did I mention it's a 24-hour rooftop bar in London, so you can enjoy everything from crowd-free sunrises to date night sunsets and everything in between?

3. Aviary

  • Location: 10th Floor of Montcalm Royal London House, 22-25 Finsbury Square, City of London, EC2A 1DX
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, and The Shard
  • Booking tip: sunset and dinner slots book up fast, so I recommend booking ahead for these
  • Why I recommend: Aviary is an all-rounder in my eyes, thanks to its huge, fully open-air terrace and unobstructed city views, combined with a refined cocktail list, contemporary British menu, and a lively, upscale atmosphere complete with brunches and DJs

For sleek interiors, incredible cocktails and a spacious roof terrace with brilliant views, look no further than Aviary Rooftop Bar & Restaurant in Finsbury Square. Located on the 10th floor of the luxe Montcalm hotel, its summer terrace and winter igloos offer, in my opinion, some of the best unobstructed views of the City skyline.

Aside from the views, I also keep coming back for the exceptional list of classic and signature cocktails, like the Green Fortune, made with Singleton 12yr, Midori, Green Chartreuse, green tea, sugar and lemon. I often order a few small plates on the side too, such as the fried ricotta-stuffed gnocchi with a sweet potato relish. Don't miss out on its Bird Song Brunch either, with two courses for £37 or three for £42, and free-flowing packages starting from £34, featuring Whispering Angel.

4. London Bridge Rooftop

  • Location: Colechurch House, London Bridge Walk, SE1 2SX
  • Price: ££
  • For views of: The Shard
  • Booking tip: book ahead for its bottomless brunch on weekends
  • Why I recommend: it's a great pick for groups on the weekend because of its bottomless brunches, with 90 minutes of free-flowing drinks, and I'd also suggest it for a laid-back date, thanks to its interactive darts and reasonable prices

Looking for a top rooftop bar in Central London? This is one of my absolute favourites. I often head over to London Bridge Rooftop with a group of friends to enjoy their unbeatable views of The Shard, not to mention their delicious smash burgers, chicken wings, and parmesan fries. There are also happy hour offers on select drinks, such as Aperol spritzes - my go-to.

They also have bottomless brunches from £40 per person, featuring prosecco, mimosas, beer cans, and punch, plus weekend DJs and interactive darts (you'll get a private room from £50 per hour) make up the rest of the fun here.

5. Sky Garden Bars

  • Location: 20 Fenchurch Street, 1 Sky Garden Walk, City of London, EC3M 8AF
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: panoramic city views, e.g. London Bridge, The Shard and Tower Bridge
  • Booking tip: it's essential to book in advance, especially for its sunrise and music events - Sky Garden is one of the top attractions  in London, so it gets very busy
  • Why I recommend: there's a reason Sky Garden is one of London's most-visited rooftop destinations. Sitting inside the iconic Walkie-Talkie building, it offers some of the most expansive public views in the city, and it still impresses me every single time

Sky Garden sits at the very top of The Walkie-Talking building, one of the capital's most famous skyscrapers, making it an iconic rooftop bar in London. I always feel a bit like I'm going through the airport on entry, as you put your bags through security, and then you're rushed sky-high in the lift (which goes so high, it makes my ears pop) to the expansive, three-floor space. Not only does it boast one of the highest landscaped public gardens in the city, but also 2 bars and 2 restaurants - all with unbeatable views.

They also host ticketed events; I recommend you head there from 6.30pm for its iconic music nights where live performers soundtrack views over London Bridge. More of an early bird? Check out sunrise at Sky Garden, or begin your day with breakfast at Larch, with access to Sky Garden too.

6. Wagtail

  • Location: 68 King William Street, City of London, EC4N 7HR
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: 360-degree panoramas of The Shard, Tower Bridge, The Gherkin, the Walkie-Talkie, and St Paul's Cathedral
  • Booking tip: it's especially busy on weekends, so if you struggle for a table, try for Sunday-Wednesday slots
  • Why I recommend: this gem comes complete with two private terraces, a private dining room, 360° views of London landmarks, and DJ nights. It won bar of the year in the London Lifestyle Awards last year, and rightly so

When someone asks me to recommend one of the prettiest rooftops in London, Wagtail Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is always one of my top choicesSitting atop a 1920s building in the heart of the City of London, this classy venue isn't just serving up looks; its restaurant offers delicious, fresh British cuisine alongside classic cocktails. I love heading here on the weekend, or even after work, for a glass of rosé and a bite to eat against a sunset backdrop.

You can look forward to signature cocktails such as the Hibiscus, made with Grey Goose vodka, hibiscus, lychee, lemon and clove, or the Chocolate, featuring gin and Cocchi di Torino. The bar serves the classics too, which you can enjoy on its two private terraces with views of London's iconic landmarks.

7. Madison

  • Location: One New Change, St Paul's, EC4M 9AF
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: St Paul's Cathedral
  • Booking tip: it gets very busy in summer and on warm days, so make sure to book ahead
  • Why I recommend: offering direct, uninterrupted views of St Paul's Cathedral, as well as a lively atmosphere (think DJs in the evening) and a menu that takes you from day to night with crowd-pleasing dishes and cocktails, Madison is hard to beat

If it's stunning views, a tasty Manhattan-style menu and creative cocktails that you're after, I would say that Madison is an absolute must. I would even go as far as to say it offers the very best views of St Paul's Cathedral in the city; it's sitting quite literally next to the landmark, on the 6th floor of the One New Change building, offering an unrivalled, close-up view.

Whether for after-work drinks, a sunset dinner date, or a bottomless brunch, I would highly recommend that you book this one - I've definitely been turned away once before when it was just that little bit too busy (it's no surprise though, considering it's one of the most popular rooftop bars in the city).

8. Radio Rooftop

  • Location: 336–337 Strand, London WC2R 1HA
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Covent Garden, the Thames, The Shard and Somerset House
  • Booking tip: this one gets quite packed in the summer (and rightly so), so it's vital to book ahead
  • Why I recommend: after a day of browsing Covent Garden's boutiques and department stores, we think it calls for an ice-cold beverage and where better to have one than this luxurious escape?

On the hunt for a rooftop bar in Covent Garden? Perched atop ME London, Radio Rooftop Bar delivers what I think is one of the capital's most glamorous sky-high experiences - a sleek, contemporary space where Asian-inspired dining, precision cocktails and panoramic skyline views come together in perfect harmony.

By day, it's a chic retreat from the Strand below, with indoor dining and heated outdoor terraces offering a serene setting for long lunches, lychee martinis and sunshine sessions. As night falls, I feel like the atmosphere sharpens into something more electric, drawing a well-dressed crowd for cocktails, DJ sets and golden-hour glamour.

9. 12th Knot

  • Location: 20 Upper Ground, Southwark, SE1 9PD
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: the Thames, St Paul's Cathedral, The Shard, and the London Eye
  • Booking tip: make sure to grab tickets in advance to signature DJ nights - it's a popular party rooftop bar
  • Why I recommend: it hits a rare sweet spot: elevated and chic, but still lively thanks to its DJ programming. The Thames-side location gives you cinematic views of St Paul's and the London Eye, and the Champagne list and creative cocktails make it feel occasion-worthy

12th Knot is the rooftop bar (you guessed it) on the 12th floor of Sea Containers. I find this luxe spot perfect for fancy date nights and all-out occasions, thanks to an impressive Champagne list and a packed-out calendar of live music events.

Inside, it's all plush seating, colourful accents and a glamorous, slightly tropical energy that feels tailor-made for date nights and big-deal celebrations. Step out onto the terrace and things get even better: twinkling lights, alfresco cocktails and a front-row seat to the city skyline at golden hour. Drinks-wise, I recommend the delicious lychee fizz, the Velvet Skyline with Woodford Reserve Whiskey, and the refreshing Golden Hour, made using Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée, Grey Goose vodka, basil, strawberry, and elderflower.

10. The Emory Rooftop Bar

  • Location: 10th Floor, The Emory, Old Barrack Yard, Belgravia, SW1X 7NP
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Hyde Park, Knightsbridge and Belgravia
  • Booking tip: this luxe rooftop is reservation-led, particularly in the evenings. Expect high demand for terrace seating and sunset drinks
  • Why I recommend: reserved mainly for guests of the hotel and limited private reservations, The Emory Rooftop Bar is one of the most exclusive, refined rooftops in the city. Think a small, serene setting with no crowds or queues, exceptional design, refined cocktails and quietly spectacular views of West London

Perched on the tenth floor of The Emory, London's first all-suite luxury hotel, The Emory Rooftop Bar is the kind of sky-high sanctuary that I find feels purpose-built for the city's style set. Designed by the late Sir Richard Rogers and finessed by interiors maestro Rémi Tessier, the space curves around the skyline in glass and steel, creating a calm, cocooned pavilion that works brilliantly in all seasons.

Legendary Argentinian bartender Renato 'Tato' Giovannoni - the mind behind Buenos Aires icon Florería Atlántico - curates a menu he calls a 'liquid love letter to London.' Each drink nods to a place, symbol or memory from the city that shaped him, blending Argentinian soul with meticulous London craft. I loved the London Seagull, a briny-bright rum and kombu creation, although the Jam Tart, a playful riff on St John puddings, sounds equally delightful.

11. Jin Bo Law

  • Location: Hotel Saint, 14th floor, 9 Aldgate High Street, Shoreditch, EC3N 1AH
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: The Shard, The Gherkin, and Tower Bridge
  • Booking tip: while walk-ins are welcome, book ahead as there can often be a queue down the road, especially on Fridays
  • Why I recommend: Jin Bo Law can be both a party bar and a swish after-work drinks spot, thanks to live DJs, dancing and a lively energy, which is infectious from the moment I step out of the lift

In the heart of Aldgate, Jin Bo Law is a rooftop party bar with views over the iconic London skyline from its roof terrace 14 floors up - thanks to its City location, it's one of my top recommendations for after-work rooftop drinks. Inside, the interiors are polished, with a showstopping geometric bar circled by a row of rich, yellow high-top chairs, and walls adorned with Asian-inspired art.

The signature cocktail menu is also one of my highlights, featuring the Blooming Fire made with chilli-infused syrup, as well as the City Jingle with PAMA pomegranate liqueur. There's also a premium selection of gins, classic drinks, mocktails, and low-calorie options.

12. Aqua Kyoto

  • Location: 30 Argyll Street, Soho, W1F 7EB
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Soho, The Shard, London Eye, Regent Street and the West End
  • Booking tip: dinner and brunch slots fill up quickly on weekends
  • Why I recommend: Aqua Kyoto is rooftop glamour done properly. I've always found the terrace views here some of the most impressive in Soho; from the London Eye to The Shard, it feels panoramic. The Aqua Group behind it has long been associated with high-end dining, and that experience shows

Aqua Kyoto has a fantastic, energetic rooftop terrace, which is adorned with miniature trees and tables topped with individual lanterns. In my opinion, it's the perfect spot to relax with one of the venue's Japanese-inspired cocktails, like the In Bloom, made with rose liqueur, or a classic old fashioned.

My favourite thing to do is visit when the sun begins to set, and order a Panda, made with Java Mur Signature, Sohsu sweet potato, lime, pineapple, coconut cream, tamarillo and shiitake bitter.

13. Savage Garden

  • Location: 7 Pepys Street, City of London, EC3N 4AF
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Tower Bridge, the Walkie Talkie building, The Shard, and The Gherkin
  • Booking tip: reservations are essential here, especially if you're booking cocktails for a date
  • Why I recommend: Savage Garden is a gorgeous bar for after-work drinks or a date night when I'm looking to impress with theatrical drinks and stunning views. I love how sleek the main bar is, with floor-to-ceiling windows so you can still catch sprawling views of Tower Bridge before stepping outside onto the terrace

With panoramic views from the two north and south terraces, Savage Garden effortlessly blends comfort and exceptional service with mind-blowing views, twelve floors up. There are glossy countertops and pendant lighting inside, while I find that the terrace boasts more of a beach feel with surf imagery and fairy lights.

The menu comes stocked full of innovative cocktails, whiskies, wines and beers, and there's a choice of bar snacks to pick between too. I love the theatrical tipples, with my favourites including the pineapple wine-based Soplo De Aire, and the Amore Fati, made using peach and guava wine, mezcal and rum.

14. Bussey Rooftop Bar

  • Location: Roof B, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, Peckham, SE15 4ST
  • Price: ££
  • For views of: The Shard and South London
  • Booking tip: always book ahead on weekends
  • Why I recommend: when people want atmosphere, 360-degree views, DJs, pizza and a proper community vibe in South London, I can't recommend Bussey Rooftop Bar enough

A lively rooftop in Peckham, Bussey Rooftop Bar is one of my favourite South London locals. It opens in spring and typically has a packed roster of activities, including Rooftop Film Club (a great date idea), not to mention DJs every Friday and Saturday night. It's found right by Peckham Rye station, so it's easy to get to - and if you don't fancy the stairs, there's a lift.

Among pops of greenery and tropical summer vibes during the warmer months, with protective shelter and heaters for when the weather takes a turn, you can devour Neapolitan pizzas and loaded fries, with a cocktail or cold beer in hand as you overlook the skyline. Even better, it's one of the few dog-friendly rooftop bars in London.

15. Coq D'Argent

  • Location: 1 Poultry, City of London, EC2R 8EJ
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: The Shard, the Walkie Talkie building, the Bank of England, and St Paul's Cathedral
  • Booking tip: make sure to book ahead, especially if coming for a meal
  • Why I recommend: you'll feel whisked away to a European garden, complete with patio chairs, flowers, and silver-grey umbrellas. It's an award-winning Conran-designed restaurant, so you know you're in for a treat visually

Coq D'Argent serves up classic French fare in a truly striking setting. I would say the terrace garden offers a perfect retreat from the frenetic outside world, with gorgeous views of London's skyscrapers and an impressive team of mixologists on hand to whip you up whatever takes your fancy. It's part of the Evolv Collection, and was designed by the award-winning Conran and Partners, who are behind a range of stylish restaurants and bars in the city (German Gymnasium, Bluebird Chelsea, and The Blueprint Cafe at the Design Museum).

Up for drinking? I often go for a crisp glass of white, like the Chablis (Domaine de la Motte, from Burgundy, France), or red, such as the Pinot Noir ('Reserve' Lawson's Dry Hills, from Marlborough, New Zealand). When it comes to food, chef Damien Rigollet will look after you with beautiful dishes like tarte au crabe, teriyaki-glazed octopus (my favourite), or beef tartare.

16. Smiths of Smithfield

Chef's Choice Menu and 2 other offers

  • Location: No. 3 Rooftop, 67-77A Charterhouse Street, Farringdon, EC1M 6HJ
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: St Paul's Cathedral and The Shard
  • Booking tip: the kitchen is closed 3-5pm, so book outside of those times if you fancy food
  • Why I recommend: sitting atop a Grade II-listed building opposite the historic Smithfield Market, it comes with skyline views of St Paul's, a strong wine list and a kitchen that delivers, thanks to its proximity to some of the capital's best produce

Smiths of Smithfield is giving you everything you need if you're looking for an evening with friends or a fun date night in the heart of Farringdon. Alongside gorgeous views of the city, you'll also get to toast with an impressive cocktail or glass of wine in hand. And if you're just here for drinks? You're in the right place. The cocktail list is elegant and inventive, mixed by a team that knows how to put on a show.

Head chef Stan Marshman's fine-dining menu features everything from seafood to prime cuts sourced straight from Smithfield Market across the road. Indoors or out on the terrace, this is the spot for classy cocktails, after-work catchups or sunset moments.

17. 8 at The Londoner

  • Location: 38 Leicester Square, Soho, WC2H 7DX
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Leicester Square and the London Eye
  • Booking tip: this stylish rooftop bar is reservation-heavy, particularly on weekends. Book early for terrace tables and note that there's often a smart dress code in the evenings
  • Why I recommend: the Japanese whisky selection is a serious draw (especially for Suntory fans), and the Shima Garden terrace gives you that rare combination of calm greenery and central London skyline

Immerse yourself in an incredible Japanese drinking and dining experience at 8 at The Londoner in Leicester Square. Feast on traditional izakaya and sip elegant, crafted cocktails like a barrel-aged old-fashioned. With a discreet, moody interior and a lush-looking terrace, it's a rooftop that balances intimacy with skyline drama.

We love the sensory delight of the Shima Garden - it's incredibly modern in design and has a calming ambience thanks to its earth tones, roaring fireplace, and geometric statement designs.

18. SAMBA ROOM

  • Location: 110 Bishopsgate, 39th Floor, Heron Tower, City of London, EC2N 4AY
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: sweeping 360° vistas across the City, Shoreditch, and Canary Wharf
  • Booking tip: book ahead for weekend dinners and evening drinks, as this is one popular, sky-high city spot
  • Why I recommend: tucked just beneath SUSHISAMBA on the 39th floor of Heron Tower, SAMBA ROOM feels intimate despite its sky-high setting. I love it for late-night cocktails that need to feel seductive: velvet booths, low lighting and sweeping views across the City and Canary Wharf create instant atmosphere

Tucked just beneath SUSHISAMBA on the 39th floor, SAMBA ROOM is one of London's most seductive sky-high hideaways. Opened in early 2024 to much fanfare, this plush cocktail bar wraps its curved space in velvet booths, warm low lighting and mid-century Brazilian style, while the vast windows keep the city glittering beneath you. It's an instant win for date night, late-night cocktails or a glamorous pre-dinner stop before heading upstairs.

The cocktail list leans into Japanese craft, Peruvian heritage and Brazilian flair. Sip on a Jasmine Whisper, a delicate Manhattan-inspired blend infused with jasmine and birch honey, or the Wabi-Sabi, a martini-style serve laced with lychee and Pai Mu Tan tea. For something bolder, the Brazilian Negroni channels São Paulo swagger, while the Rhythm of Rio brings pure Carnaval energy in a glass.

19. Los Mochis London City

  • Location: 100 Liverpool Street, City of London, EC2M 2AT
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: St Paul's Cathedral
  • Booking tip: without a doubt, this one should be booked ahead for date night, large groups, and private hire any day of the week
  • Why I recommend: this is one of the most visually striking rooftops in the City right now. From the moment I stepped out of the lift, it felt transportive - lush greenery, bold interiors and those St Paul's views are hard to beat

Perched high above the bustling streets in Broadgate Circle, Los Mochis is a lush foodie oasis and rooftop bar on London Liverpool Street, adorned with hanging foliage and vibrant Mexican flowers against stylish mid-century décor.

Featuring three distinct dining areas, including the main dining room, a sushi and raw bar, and an outdoor terrace, their menus include a delicious mix of sashimi, maki rolls, tiraditos, and ceviches alongside gorgeous views across London.

20. Kitty Hawk

  • Location: 8 St. Martin's Place, Leicester Square, WC2N 4JH
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: the Thames, Theatreland, Big Ben, and Trafalgar Square
  • Booking tip: perfect for groups on weekends who reserve ahead
  • Why I recommend: I always suggest Kitty Hawk when someone wants central London views without the chaos. You've got Trafalgar Square at your feet, the Thames and Big Ben in sight, and yet it still feels elevated. It's especially great for group celebrations or pre-theatre dining

Perched atop Page 8 Hotel, Kitty Hawk Rooftop Bar & Restaurant offers a breathtaking escape in London's colourful West End. Bathed in golden light and adorned with burnt orange accents, this stylish space boasts panoramic views that will leave you spellbound.

Indulge in a delectable array of set menus, from pre-theatre dining to a la carte delights like North Sea halibut or Cornish lemon sole. And to quench your thirst, savour classic cocktails like margaritas.

21. The Standard

  • Location: 10 Argyle Street, King's Cross, WC1H 8EG
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: King's Cross and the London Eye
  • Booking tip: the rooftop is made for walk-ins during the summer, but I highly suggest combining your trip with dinner or lunch at Decimo
  • Why I recommend: The Standard's rooftop is pure summer-in-the-city energy. I love how playful it feels: AstroTurf underfoot, colourful seating, pizza by the slice and cocktails clinking as the sun sets over King's Cross

As the days stretch longer and the evenings get warmer, The Standard's rooftop is the place to be. Perched on the 11th floor of The Standard, right in the heart of King's Cross and just a stone's throw from the Eurostar, the rooftop offers jaw-dropping views of the iconic London skyline. It's the ideal spot to kick back after work, sip on a cocktail at sunset, or take your weekend plans to new heights.

You'll also find a much-loved food truck, serving up irresistible New York-inspired pizza slices. Whether you're sharing a 16” pizza with friends or savouring a slice all to yourself, each bite is a delicious homage to classic New York flavours, with a revamped menu featuring all your favourite toppings.

22. Sabine Rooftop Bar

  • Location: Leonardo Royal Hotel London St Paul's, 10 Godliman Street, City of London, EC4V 5AJ
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: St Paul's Cathedral and the City of London
  • Booking tip: it's essential to reserve the bottomless brunch here in advance, no matter your group size
  • Why I recommend: if proximity to St Paul's is your priority, Sabine is hard to beat - the cathedral feels close enough to touch. I'll often go there for golden hour because the light here is spectacular, especially with heaters and cosy seating extending the season

Sabine is one of London's most-loved rooftop bars, pairing views of St Paul's with an outdoor terrace, sensational cocktails and stunning small plates. The outside space is complete with dainty plants and bouquets, as well as wicker chairs with spongey cushions for sinking into.

Head up to this swish spot to take in the skyline while sipping on signature cocktails like the Foggy Solution, which blends Whistle Pig 10-year-old burnt butter fat wash with Campari and sweet vermouth.

23. Circe’s Rooftop Waterloo

  • Location: Mercury House, 117 Waterloo Road, Waterloo, SE1 8UL
  • Price: ££-£££
  • For views of: The Shard, and the London Eye
  • Booking tip: this party-ready rooftop is big on brunches and themed events, so book in advance for bottomless slots and weekend evenings. Larger groups should reserve early to guarantee space
  • Why I recommend: Circe's has firmly positioned itself as one of Waterloo's go-to party rooftops. I believe it's particularly strong for birthdays, bottomless brunches and group celebrations thanks to its private pods and lively programming

Named after the God of Sun's daughter, Greek-inspired Circe's has taken over the space of the former Bar Elba in Waterloo - bringing you the same stunning views of the area but with an even sunnier twist. It's all about igloo pods, sun loungers, and slushies.

Circe's is a rooftop bar in London with a view and bright decor. Think a gorgeous pink, yellow, and rattan look with the Mediterranean small plates to match, alongside themed cocktails, frozen pina coladas and more for drinks.

24. Frank's

  • Location: Bold Tendencies, 7th-10th Floor Multi Storey Car Park, 95A Rye Lane, SE15 4ST
  • Price: ££
  • For views of: South London, The Shard
  • Booking tip: this place is walk-ins-only, so come prepared to wait a little for your seat in the height of summer - this place is popular
  • Why I recommend: this rooftop bar is one of my go-tos with my friends, as the dishes are great for sharing and the drinks are affordable. It's got such a communal buzz about it and a convivial European feel

It's one of the most talked-about rooftop bars in South London and for good reason. A summer pop-up with some seriously sweet views of the city, Frank's Cafe is an indie favourite awash with punters once the sun comes both up and down. Designed by Practice Architecture and Bold Tendencies' first architecture project, it's refreshingly minimalist.

You can look forward to sipping on the likes of a Tom Collins, Frank's margarita, and frozen watermelon cooler, among beers and specially selected wines. Food-wise, plates are made to order, and you can tuck into miso-glazed aubergine, or slow-roast pork neck from the grill.

25. Joia

  • Location: 16th Floor, 1 Electric Blvd, Nine Elms, Battersea, SW11 8BJ
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Battersea Power Station
  • Booking tip: pair your cocktail reservation with a dinner one, and you won't regret it
  • Why I recommend: I feel like cocktail lovers are equally spoiled here with the Perola Bar: the Sunstone considers itself fiery and sharp, complete with Altos Blanco tequila and mango and pepper cordial, while Terracotta Army blends Monkey 47 gin with lychee, jasmine and grapefruit for a drink as great as the views

Situated in Battersea, Joia's rooftop can be found 16 floors up - complete with gorgeous views of the city. The pretty venue is filled with pastel furniture, quirky light fixtures and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a spacious rooftop terrace for alfresco drinks.

Expect creative cocktails from The Perola Bar, like the peanut butter and banana Golden Stool. Our top tip? Book dinner on the 15th floor either after or before, and still enjoy those sky-high views, but alongside food from the award-winning chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, who takes inspiration from his culinary heritage, using cooking techniques from Catalonia and Portugal with British ingredients.

26. Cicoria

  • Location: The Royal Ballet and Opera, Bow Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 9DD
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Covent Garden Piazza
  • Booking tip: it's walk-ins only for the bar, and I've been lucky enough to have had a seat overlooking the piazza in peak summer, so it is possible
  • Why I recommend: I've had a lovely time unwinding at this bar, overlooking the piazza and people-watching to my heart's content. I love how leafy the decor is, yet the refined bars with emerald green tiling give it a dash of city sleek

Perched above the hum of Covent Garden Piazza, Bar Cicoria brings a slice of Turin's storied bar culture to the West End skyline. This all-day rooftop - covered, heated and blissfully removed from the jostle below - is a walk-ins-only hideaway where aperitivo hour melts into late-night digestivi.

There's plenty of Vermouth, from Cocchi to Carpano, alongside bittersweet staples like Campari and Aperol, while a tight, confident cocktail list riffs on the classics. The Negroni Piano arrives milk-clarified and silken; the Caprese Sbagliato folds basil-infused vodka with cherry tomato and strawberry cordial (plus a drizzle of olive oil for good measure); and the Truffle Vesper is very decadent.

27. Boundary Shoreditch

  • Location: 2-4 Boundary Street, Shoreditch, E2 7DD
  • Price: £££
  • For views of: Shoreditch, the City, and East London
  • Booking tip: great for couples - secure a sunny spot ahead on weekends or after work in advance
  • Why I recommend: for me, this is one of East London's most consistently stylish rooftop escapes. The heated orangery makes it a year-round option (rare in Shoreditch), and I love that you can tuck into a cosy corner with a cocktail while still soaking up skyline views

Sip a tasty cocktail and take in the stunning views of East London while sitting in the pretty exterior terrace of this high-end Shoreditch rooftop bar. Boundary Shoreditch offers more than just style, though, with a menu of delicious food and hand-crafted cocktails showing that it's got the substance to match. Even better, it's a dog-friendly rooftop bar in London, so you can bring your pup along for some great views.

Our favourite drinks have included the Fleur de Fig, made with Bombay Sapphire, and the Smoke & Silk with Lost Explorer espadin mezcal, Maraschino liqueur, and cactus piment figue de barbarie. Food-wise, you can expect king prawn pil pil with sourdough to start, followed by its signature Boundary burger.

28. Netil 360

  • Location: 1 Westgate Street, London Fields, E8 3RL
  • Price: ££
  • For views of: Hackney and Stratford (in the distance)

  • Why I recommend: for a laid-back East London rooftop, this is a classic. I like Netil360 for its no-frills, community feel, and it serves pints, pizza and panoramic views without the central London price tag

Looking for a cool rooftop bar in Hackney with a view? Head over to Netil360. Decorated with astroturf and wood, this rooftop oasis offers magical panoramic views of London's skyline, though you may have to climb a few stairs to get there (they really make you work for it - but trust us, it's worth it).

Sip on refreshing cocktails and local drinks, and enjoy some delicious, proper Neapolitan-style pizza. Free entry, live DJs, and an unpretentious atmosphere make it a must-visit spot among locals. Plus, there's a great little photobooth outside where you and your mates can snap some pictures before or after Netil 360.

  • For views of: Shoreditch, the City of London, and Old Street
  • Booking tip: walk-ins work well here for a quick drink, though if you're looking to brunch or eat too, then book ahead
  • Why I recommend: it's great for groups, as you can gather around benches in the middle of the venue. If you're visiting as a pair, my favourite spot is one of the high tables and chairs by the walls, as it's a prime position for people watching

One of the most popular rooftop bars in East London, you'll find the terrace at Queen of Hoxton changing with the seasons. It oozes character with sassy neon signs inside and fairy lights laced around the decking, and there's always something going on, thanks to its host of regular live music nights and DJ sets.

In winter, a heated yurt and open flames create a warm, cosy vibe with sweeping views of East London. You can enjoy a brand new theme each year (this year's all about the Caribbean), as well as a limited edition menu. In the summer, it hums with groups of friends after work and on weekends.

  • Why I recommend: Pergola has built a strong reputation across London for throwing some of the city's best rooftop brunches, and the Canary Wharf outpost continues that legacy. I like this one for a larger group as it's spacious, energetic and designed for sociable dining rather than intimate corners

Fancy a rooftop bar in London, Canary Wharf? Then, Pergola on The Wharf is a great shout. Make your way through the idyllic gardens above Crossrail Place to find the gorgeous spot, which features live DJs, bottomless brunch parties and Sunday roasts.

The drinks list is a colourful parade of summery spritzes, tropical serves and playful signatures, from blackberry sangria to a tiramisu espresso martini, made in partnership with some of London's best distilleries and breweries. • Why I recommend: The Savour & Sip menu is thoughtfully curated around seasonal spritzes and skyline-friendly signatures, while the food offering (lobster rolls, sirloin steak, chicken satay) ensures it's more than just a drinks terrace

The rooftop bar of Stanley's at The Chesterfield Mayfair is a dream spot for a sophisticated drink in the sky. Open from 11am to 11pm, it's got you covered for wine-soaked lunches, sundowner cocktails and late-night luxury.

Situated at the top of the Novotel Hotel in Canary Wharf is Bōkan, a stunning restaurant and bar spanning three floors. Head out onto its gorgeous roof terrace to enjoy bespoke cocktails, plus seasonal European cuisine with a twist, all while taking in the glowing city sights around you.

  • Why I recommend: I find this rooftop particularly strong if you want glamour. The Spanish-led menu is hard to resist, the cocktails are playful yet refined, and the terrace views over Regent Street are some of Soho's best

For seriously sky-high views at a rooftop bar in London's Soho, head up to Aqua Nueva's gorgeous terrace. The rooftop steals the show; an elegant alfresco terrace perfect for sharing plates with friends or sinking into golden hour with a cocktail in hand.
