It's globally renowned, and for good reason; equipped with some of the best sound systems available and a vibration-sensitive "Bodysonic" dancefloor so you can really feel the music, the industrial, underground-style club showcases the very best DJs and artists across its three distinct floors

Renowned as one of the top clubs in London, Fabric is the place to go for late-night partying. Not only is it a hub for electronic music, but it's also a record label and online shop. Founded in 1999 by Keith Reilly and Cameron Leslie, it has three separate rooms with independent sound systems, with Room One featuring 400 bass transducers emitting frequencies to create an immersive dancing experience.

It hosts an eclectic lineup of events throughout the week, spanning the likes of house, techno and disco, with nights typically starting at 11pm from Friday to Sunday. Expect collaborations with Boiler Room, Waterworks afterparties and more.

• Why we recommend: I've been going to this club since it was Plan B (IYKYK), but the team behind XOYO has since injected new life into it, now making it a standout spot for music lovers to get their groove on. The custom-built Funktion-One sound system provides unbeatable sound quality, while the lineups are anything but bog-standard (Bakey, DJ EZ, Call Super and Metalheadz have all featured recently). I also love the fact that they offer DJs month-long residencies, so they can take over the club and offer deeply curated nights

Having taken over what was originally Plan B, Phonox comes to SW9 from the same team behind the huge clubbing stalwarts XOYO and The Nest.

Their Friday night philosophy is a simple one; one Funktion One sound system, one dance floor and killer DJs, whether that be some plucked from the rising ranks of local stars or international favourites like Virgil Abloh and A-Trak. Head down for a special event and you might even find the likes of Kelly Lee Owens, Charli XCX and George Daniels playing there.

• Why we recommend: though I very much miss their original venue in Tottenham (if you never got lost in their labyrinth of rooms, you've truly missed out), the newest iteration of The Cause still echoes their music-first ethos in a distinctly unique setting - although you'll have to get the DLR to the Docklands to find it. They showcase up-and-coming names and global sensations (I've seen Chaos in the CBD and the iconic Shanti Celeste here - they were both incredible), and the industrial-meets-underground club design and huge courtyard make it ideal for parties all year round

The Cause will be the reason you're out 'til late, and it clearly knows it, given its name. It hasn't been a straightforward ride for this haunt, though, as it ran for three years since opening in 2018 before relocating to the Docklands and setting up camp permanently in an old Guinness and Tetley factory.

There's nothing shiny or OTT about this haunt, as it's 100% grassroots and comes from the brains behind hi-fi haunt and restaurant The Marquee Moon as well as top bar All My Friends. You'll find a courtyard outside where you can catch DJ sets, as well as inside spaces featuring incredible sound systems all complete with a DIY, down-to-earth feel.

• Why we recommend: though it's on the smaller side for a club, Corsica Studios knows how to pack a punch. Featuring two rooms, with stripped-back, industrial decor that gives it a raw, underground club vibe, made all the sweeter by the genre-defying emerging artists that feature on their lineups, this is my holy grail for a good ol' late-night dance (most likely to heavy house or techno tunes)

If you're looking for great London clubs, Elephant and Castle are spoiling us with Corsica Studios, the independent arts organisation and nightclub that's nestled under the railway arches. It's an underground gem boasting industrial, minimal interiors and is focused on sound quality, art and culture.

As the winner of Best British Small Club Of The Year by DJ Mag, it makes sense that it plays host to some iconic nights that take you across its various spaces. Room One is where you'll find live shows, and Room Two is home to a full wall of Funktion One speakers. And if you're in need of a little cosy time out? There's a cushioned room for that too.

• Why we recommend: I absolutely love the vibrant, queer-friendly crowd at Colour Factory, a fantastic, multi-faceted venue that can take you from day to night. I recommend starting the day with sun-soaked pints on their alfresco terrace before making your way inside to shake a leg at one of their genre-bending club nights

Not only is Colour Factory a Hackney Wick suntrap, but it's also home to some seriously wild parties, doubles up as a music venue and has a state-of-the-art sound system. Its founder, Nathanael Williams, is behind Jumbi in Peckham and Moko in Tottenham, so he knows how to facilitate a great party programme.

On the lineup, you'll find events showcasing the best of house and techno music, curated exhibitions that double up as BBQs in the summer, and plenty of techno after-parties; it's the place to head for an all-day and all-night bash 'til 4am.

• Why we recommend: the main reason I love Carpet Shop is for its community feel, which spans from daytime taco munching to buzzing outdoor parties in the courtyard for festival vibes. With a creative ethos and a wide range of genres across sets here too, no two nights out here are ever the same

A South London favourite, Carpet Shop is found just moments from Peckham Rye tube station, tucked away in Arch 164 and from the same team as the legends behind Corsica Studios. It's a no-frills approach here, with a focus on the music and quality soundsystem rather than upmarket decor, making for a stripped-back, DIY aesthetic inside. Outside, a courtyard for dancing away at day parties awaits to complete the top-notch clubbing experience.

Programming covers a wide variety of genres and focuses on creativity. There aren't just day parties at Carpet Shop when the sun is up either, as the community feel continues with on-site Mexican restaurant Taquiza slinging out tacos and tequila-based cocktails.

If you're looking to go clubbing in the East, then put Night Tales on your radar; the 10,000-square-foot venue features a foliage-adorned outside terrace, an onsite pizza restaurant and an internationally famous club.

You'll find it just across from Hackney Central overground, taking over three railway arches. Open on Fridays and Saturdays 'til 3am, it hosts some epic electronic artists that keep the nights rumbling into the morning as you sip cool beers and spirits.

One of the best nightclubs in London has to be Drumsheds, brought to you by the same team behind Printworks in London and Depot Mayfield in Manchester. It's an incredible, multi-level and multi-room venue that once belonged to an IKEA and now holds up to 15000 clubbers.

At its core, it's a cultural hub run by charity Nine Point Eight that fosters local art and hosts epic gigs by the likes of Fat Boy Slim, The Chemical Brothers and more. Just hop off the line at Tottenham Hale and make your way over to the spacious warehouse for a very good time.

London's playground for some dark and twisted sex appeal, Cirque le Soir is a notorious nightlife spot for over-the-top entertainment. Since opening in 2009 where Alto Club used to be in the heart of the city, it's lent its funfair-themed and luxurious interiors to be the background of many a bash. And if you're wondering what clubs celebs go to in London, you'll see your fair share of stars here.

Expect fire-eaters, aerial performers, circus and burlesque artists to take the stage with a weekly lineup of enticing events. Frequented by VIP clientele and known for going all out when it comes to X-rated performances, this is one of the go-to clubs in Central London.

Spread across five different floors and situated in Hackney, Metropolis offers everything you need for fun clubbing. Enjoy live gigs, delicious drinks, launch parties, shows and plenty more across the different stories, with an inclusive atmosphere throughout the venue.

Throughout the week, it's predominantly a strip club, then come Saturday, its club nights reign supreme - the queer-friendly bar throws it back to the carefree 70s and 80s 'til 4am at its disco event.

Playing host to a wide range of nights from electronic symphonies to throw-back club nights, this electric nightclub is one of Central's finest.

Good clubs in London? How about excellent instead? Then let us point you to Elephant and Castle's Ministry of Sound. The first of its kind dedicated to house music, the superclub has been the home of all things dance since 1991, spanning four rooms equipped with incredible sound systems and iconic dancefloors.

The founders took over an old bus depot and transformed it into a space that puts exceptional audio quality first, after being inspired by a trip to New York. Today, it hosts live gigs as well as nights dedicated to talented DJs and continues to pick up the gauntlet laid down by the late-1980s social phenomenon that saw a rise in acid house music and illegal rave parties, the Second Summer of Love.

FOLD is one of those clubs in East London that's community-driven and artist-led, renting its studio spaces out during the week to those wishing to create and experiment with their craft.

It's a short walk from Canning Town station and was founded by Shapes owner Lasha Jorjoliani and Seb Glover; boasting a 24-hour license and a 500-capacity space decked out with a Funktion One sound system, it's the ultimate place to go partying. With Danny L Harle playing sets and marathon parties, it's hard to resist checking out.

Egg Nightclub in King's Cross is a three-storey playground for serious clubbers, pulsating with non-stop House music and illuminated by vibrant, swirling lights. With floors and rooms filled by thousands, this is the kind of place where you can dance until sunrise, enjoying sets from top international DJs spanning a range of house sub-genres - making it a top pick of our great London clubs recommendations.

The crowd is a lively mix, from students scoring loyalty perks to seasoned partygoers, all drawn together by the music and the energy. Egg's interior perfectly blends an underground warehouse vibe with clubbing extravagance, making it a versatile spot where casual door policies meet seriously high-spirited nights.

The best dance clubs in London? Well, you could certainly shake some moves here if its famous Deptford Northern Soul Club every third Friday of the month is anything to go by.

Bypass collections of military memorabilia and enter a room complete with dazzling golden arches - the result of the former ex-servicemen's hall transformation into a kitsch gig venue. The much-loved Hackney haunt throws events most nights of the week, from independent artists performing new sets to themed DJ nights and more.

This lively location is found inside a listed Victorian building in Farringdon as well as in the heart of the West End, open 'til 2am on Fridays and Saturdays whipping up an unbeatable list of cocktails to choose from as well - think zombies, pornstar martinis and Red Bull-based Watermelon Ginbulls.

If you're partial to the music of the blues, jazz and soul persuasion, then this is your place to go clubbing. Feast on St Louis pork ribs with fries or a crispy chicken sandwich washed down with a Watermelon Pisco Punch and then hit the dance floor, where you might even catch your new favourite band.

You can count on these guys for a good time no matter what day it is (especially given that it's named after the party island of Brazil), with hip-hop and RnB events taking place every single night. Its disco ball-lit, loft-style space will transport you to the tropical shores and far away from East London without fail.

It's housed in what was once the playground of notorious London gangsters the Krays and is steeped in history. This sophisticated destination is open to everyone, but if you want to feel a little bit special, then the annual £100 membership fee is well worth it for the exclusive perks provided to you and your guests.

Located on Wardour Street, Freedom is a fantastic late-night club and gay bar to check out. Boasting plush seating, two dance poles and raucous DJs, the haunt also has a downstairs that frequently hosts cabaret and drag shows.

Le Fez may be the answer to all your nightclub prayers - it's a fun, French-inspired Putney destination offering loads of live entertainment, from DJ sets to burlesque stars.

With its plush velvet interiors, hanging florals and uber-cool feel, this is one memorable place for a night out, split into two areas: Le Club (light up dancefloors, chandeliers, you name it) and Le Jardin (basically a fairy wonderland). And for all of you who love to party until dawn, this place is even open until 4am Monday to Saturday, and 'til 2am on Sundays.

Europe's longest running disco and funk night, Carwash has been filling dancefloors since 1989. They're all about uplifting nights out that use the power of music to create fun, connections and an all-round good time.

They host events all over London, from Holborn to Shoreditch and beyond. Expect retro glamour and disco vibes throughout, whether you're heading to their Funkin' Up Fridays, a daytime disco or even a bottomless brunch complete with great tunes. Plus, tickets to these club nights start from just £10 each.

With an epic lighting rig and the first Martin Audio MLA Compact sound system to be installed into a UK venue, not single soundwave is left to chance. Head here on a Friday or Saturday and you can feel the vibrations right through to 2am.

• Why we recommend: I've been going here since I was a teenager and, thanks to a diverse range of events, fusing nostalgic music, drag culture and themed club nights, I won't be stopping any time soon. I highly recommend you check out one of their UK Garage events where the crowd becomes truly electric

It's a no-brainer that this huge Victorian theatre, which has been converted into one of the best clubs in Clapham, made it into our round-up. The Grade II-listed building was established in 1900 by stage performers and was launched into the midst of a thriving Music Hall era. It's seen a variety of famous faces grace its stage, including a young Charlie Chaplin.

And today, with raucous brunches and sports screenings alongside cabaret and hip-hop nights, you'll find everyone from students to adults congregating at The Grand for a fun night of big beats and tipple-fuelled dancing. Oh, and if you arrive before 11pm on your birthday, don't forget to claim your free bubbles.

The place that has birthed the biggest retro clubbing culture London has ever seen, this is Infernos. Legendary for throwing some ultimate cheese-fest parties, it's no wonder this Clapham institution is one of the best nightclubs in London for students, with its boy band moves and Spice Girl tributes across two carpeted floors.

You might even know it for being a favourite of Margot Robbie's back in the day. Expect private karaoke rooms, podiums to dance on and balloon drops at midnight, making for the ultimate throwback extravaganza.

• Why we recommend: Heaven is an iconic LGBTQ+ venue and epic superclub in the centre of London, featuring multiple dancefloors (each with its own vibe and music style). You'll also find DJs bringing the house down at their G-A-Y Saturdays club nights and mid-week parties, with music from the likes of Charli XCX, Beyonce and Lady Gaga

When you think of the best gay bars and clubs in London, Heaven always springs to mind. This huge venue has a capacity for almost 2000 people, maintaining its reputation of inclusivity and cracking nights out over the years.

It's been around for over 40 of them; set up by Jeremy Norman, it took over a former roller disco and transformed the space into a party den for the disco-hungry gays of the city and, as a result, has had a major influence on the development of the LGBTQIA+ scene in London. You can find this super club under Charing Cross station, with regular queer icon-themed parties, drag shows and live performances. Even better? You can keep the good vibes going until 5am most days.
