Daffodil Mulligan

Right in the centre of Old Street, Daffodil Mulligan is a stylish space that combines classic East London dining with warm Irish hospitality. The interiors are made up of white tiled walls, wooden tables and plush leather booths, with huge windows letting in lots of natural light while you dine.

Tuck into sharing plates straight from the grill, raw seafood platters and sumptuous small plates - ranging from natural Carlingford oysters to butterfly mackerel satay or miso squash. Plus, there are a wide variety of natural wines and cocktails for a boozy lunch.

Lantana Shoreditch

A stone's throw from Old Street roundabout, Lantana is a sleek, modern haunt filled with low lighting, wooden tables and pretty plants, as well as a mural designed by Kat Macleod. Whether you're dining inside or on the covered outdoor terrace, you can munch your way through a menu of Australian-inspired eats.

Their weekday lunch menu is served from 12 to 4pm, featuring everything from chicken parmigiana to truffled mushroom flatbreads and bang bang cauliflower nourish bowls.

Marlowe Café, Bar & Restaurant

Part of the luxurious hotel Montcalm East, Marlowe Café, Bar & Restaurant is an all-day dining destination featuring comfy sofas, a marble-topped bar and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the bustling area. There are gold touches throughout, reflecting the sophisticated nature of the eatery.

The meals are just as enticing as the interiors, promising high-end British classics such as flat iron chicken with crushed new potatoes, roast pumpkin and sage tortelloni in a truffle dressing or slow-cooked lamb shoulder shepherd's pie. Plus, you can enjoy a main course and a drink for £30 on their express lunch menu.

Sports Bar & Grill, Old Street

On the hunt for a casual lunch in Shoreditch? Then head to Sports Bar & Grill on Old Street. This buzzing venue offers HD screens aplenty if you're after some entertainment while you eat, and there are even pool tables and dartboards for afterwards.

There's a huge American-inspired menu to get stuck into, featuring the likes of three cheese loaded nachos, stone-baked barbecue chicken pizzas and grilled halloumi burgers coated in hot honey sauce.

Molly's

Located close to Hoxton Overground station, Molly's is a trendy bar and kitchen that's housed in a former Victorian pub. Expect cool, modern interiors that feature colourful murals and plush booth seating, with an exciting all-day menu to get stuck into as well.

Tuck into everything from katsu chicken burgers to charcuterie boards and smoky aubergine, with some plates coming in at less than a tenner each. Plus, there are delicious cocktails up for grabs too.

Pizza Pilgrims Shoreditch

Founded in 2012, Pizza Pilgrims has fast become one of the UK's top pizza destinations. Their Shoreditch High Street venue is filled with colourful decor, from traditional checked tablecloths to orange walls lined with old-school posters and artwork.

There's a huge variety of toppings to choose from on their authentic Neapolitan pizzas, including double pepperoni and hot honey, chargrilled aubergine or a whopping eight cheese. Don't forget a crust dipper either - we recommend the truffle flavour.

Brat

A favourite of Charli XCX herself, Brat is a Basque-influenced restaurant that's inspired by the seafood spots of Northern Spain. Created by former Kitty Fisher's head chef Tomos Parry, this place has received a lot of praise over the years, thanks to its wood-fired cooking and extensive wine list.

There's all sorts to get stuck into here, ranging from fresh chorizo to beef tartare and Dover sole, with an indulgent burnt pear cheesecake to finish.

Popolo

A small, independent restaurant on Rivington Street, Popolo is an Italian eatery brought to you by Jonathon Lawson and Munar Shah. The two-storey venue has an industrial, minimalist vibe to it, with an open kitchen bar where you can watch as the chefs work their magic.

There menu is inspired by more than 20 Italian regions, made up of seasonal sharing plates using sustainable produce. Devour everything from smoked paprika octopus to gorgonzola risotto and creamy nduja burrata, washed down with low-intervention wines.

Smokestak

Named after their signature wood-smoked meats, Smokestak has earned itself a cult following since opening in 2013. The sleek space features rustic wooden furniture, black concrete walls and dark leather seating, where you can tuck into a range of sumptuous barbecue fare.

Munch your way through a menu of charred pork belly rib, brisket buns with pickled red chilli, salt-baked beetroot with goat's cheese and so much more.

On The Bab Shoreditch

Specialising in Korean street food, this contemporary restaurant can be found in the heart of Old Street. On The Bab offers both a casual dining area and a grab and go option that's perfect for lunchtime, and they offer traditional drinks to go alongside your food.

You can enjoy a wide variety of bites here, from spicy pork with rice and salad to special fried chicken mushroom fritter bao buns.

Beigel Bake

Shoreditch's Brick Lane is known for its bagels, and they're always a top choice for quick lunches on the go. Beigel Bake is one of our favourites, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week - so it's not just lunch on the cards here. 

The no-frills spot is famed for its signature kosher beigel, which is filled with tender salt beef, mustard and a tangy pickle. Widely considered the best bagel shop on the road, this one is well worth a visit.

Dishoom Shoreditch

Inspired by the old-school Irani cafes of Bombay, Dishoom is one of London's best-known Indian restaurants. Their Shoreditch location can be found on Boundary Street, flaunting timeless charm in its faded photos on white brick walls and rustic wooden furniture.

There's an extensive range of authentic Indian dishes to get stuck into, using traditional techniques and flavours. Think tandoori lamb chops, blackened butterfly prawns and gunpowder potatoes, to name just a few of their dishes.

The Boundary Rooftop Bar & Grill

Having received a lot of buzz since its original opening in 2009, The Boundary Rooftop Bar & Grill offers some of the very best views in Shoreditch while you dine. Part of the Boundary Hotel by Sir Terrance Conran, this stylish space features a leafy outdoor terrace and pretty fairy lights, as well as a tasty midday menu.

Munch your way through salt-aged sirloin steaks, Delica pumpkin risotto, venison haunch and so much more, paired with one of their £15 cocktails like the Caribbean Sun.

Manteca

Created by David Carter of Smokestak and Chris Lech of Petersham Nurseries and Sagar + Wilde, Manteca is a modern restaurant inspired by the owners' travels all over Italy. They've earned themselves a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for their top-quality cooking, with house-cured meat and homemade focaccia elevating their menu.

Tuck into the likes of duck ragu with hand-rolled pasta, nduja steamed mussels or brown crab cacio e pepe, to be enjoyed in relaxed but sophisticated surrounds that feature white brick walls, wooden furnishings and leather seating.

BAO Noodle Shop

Inspired by the noodle shops of Taiwan, BAO is a top choice for cheap lunch in Shoreditch. The laid-back venue features an open kitchen, where you can watch chefs whip up your meal, as well as casual wooden tables and benches surrounded by red stools.

The menu is designed to share, with small plates and larger noodle dishes to choose from. We're talking confit pork belly bao, soy-glazed aubergine, mushroom dumplings and so much more.

Flat Iron Shoreditch

If it's succulent steaks that you're after, then make your way to Flat Iron on Curtain Road. The pretty space is decked out in greenery, with rustic wooden tables and a roaring open fire creating a homely feel. Take a seat by the huge window to look out over the buzzing area, or nab one of the large tables at the back for big groups.

Their signature steak costs just £14, and you can pair it with homemade beef dripping chips, crispy bone marrow garlic mash or truffled macaroni cheese. Plus, their cocktails are only £9 each.

The Hoxton Grill

The Hoxton Grill is an all-day American restaurant on Great Eastern Street that flaunts a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Expect comfy red leather seating and sleek, dark decor, surrounded by exposed brick walls. 

Open for lunch seven days a week, this spot is slinging out hearty plates galore, ranging from fried chicken burgers with hot sauce to French dip baguettes and mac 'n' cheese topped with truffle or barbecue brisket.

Padella Shoreditch

The second site from this renowned pasta restaurant, Padella Shoreditch is a laid-back, affordable pick that's filled with elegant white interiors. They prepare fresh pasta every single day, with a small but perfect menu that changes on a regular basis.

Delve into plates of pasta topped with gorgonzola and sweet onions, braised beef fillet or Dorset crab, followed by a traditional tiramisu. Having been named in the Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants in the past, you know you're in for a good meal here.

BiBo Shoreditch

Located on Curtain Road, BiBo is part of Virgin Hotels' Shoreditch outpost. Three Michelin-starred chef Dani García runs the kitchen here, cooking up authentic Andalusian dishes, with a strong focus on tapas and paella. Think scallop carpaccio, fried calamari with black aioli and steak tartare prepared at the table, with Basque cheesecake for dessert.

The gorgeous space flaunts a huge, tiled bar area surrounded by leather stools, as well as quirky artwork hanging from the ceiling and lots of pretty greenery. And if you're after a bargain? Their express lunch menu offers a selection of tasty tapas from £20 per person, available from 12 to 4.30pm on weekdays.

Gloria

Part of the ever-popular Big Mamma Group, Gloria is a quirky restaurant that's filled with 1970s Capri-inspired decor, as well as a luxurious red basement space. Their menu is just as extravagant as the interiors, from the kooky cocktails to the over-the-top dishes.

Their menu changes on a monthly basis, but you can expect a few favourites very time - such as their cacio e pepe served in a parmesan wheel, tasty Neapolitan pizzas and their towering six-inch lemon meringue pie.
