Fun London Activities For 2026, Handpicked By A Local

61. Paradox Museum

  • Location: 90 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, SW3 1JJ
  • Best for: photo opportunities, illusions
  • Activity type: group, family, museum, immersive, sightseeing
  • Price: from £23.50 per adult
  • Why I recommend: these whacky illusions will have you questioning everything, and there are lots of great photos to be taken

Located just across from Harrods, the Paradox Museum is home to all sorts of weird and wonderful exhibits. Expect plenty of optical illusions, which will have you disappearing into the walls, walking upside down and being cut in half by a sofa.

This is a great choice for families, and you're bound to leave with some unforgettable photos to remember the experience by.

62. Twist Museum

  • Location: 248 Oxford Street, W1C 1DH
  • Best for: a silly day out where you can interact with the exhibits
  • Activity type: immersive, museum, sightseeing, family, group
  • Price:  from £24.50 for adults; from £20 for children; aged 3 and under go free
  • Why I recommend: dedicated to immersing you in fun illusions and mind-bending experiences, Twist Museum is a fun, light-hearted spot for an outing for friends, families and couples

With an acronym for its name ("The Way I See Things") that reflects its ethos, Twist Museum challenges the boundaries of human perception across an interactive experience. There's over 80 exhibits here, all created in collaboration with artists, neuroscientists, and philosophers.

Favourite parts include optical illusion rooms and sensory experiments.

63. Abandoned London Underground Stations

  • Location: various
  • Best for: history that veers on the eerie side
  • Activity type: history, transport, sightseeing, family, group
  • Price:  from £45
  • Why I recommend: a chance to see a side of London that remains hidden to most. You'll tour film locations, former war bunkers and plenty of subterranean surprises

London's tube network is one of the oldest in the world, so it's no surprise that it hides a few secrets. Believe it or not, there are 40 abandoned underground stations that were either closed, bypassed or never finished over the years - including some you can visit.

Perhaps the most famous ghost station of them all, Aldwych closed to passengers in 1994. Since then, it's starred in everything from Sherlock to 28 Weeks Later. If you fancy seeing it for yourself, the London Transport Museum runs regular guided tours. Another star of the silver screen, Charing Cross was the backdrop for scenes in Skyfall, Killing Eve and plenty more besides. Fancy a peek? The Hidden London tour will take you here too.
