1. Giggling Squid Brighton

  • Why we recommend: Giggling Squid are one of the most reliable spots for Thai cuisine in the UK, and Brighton, and we think they nail the balance between vibrant interiors and authentic Thai flavours. It's perfect for everything from a quick tapas-style lunch to a leisurely dinner with cocktails.

Located in the heart of The Lanes, Giggling Squid is set in a charming old fisherman's cottage with chic, floral interiors and plenty of cosy nooks across three floors. The menu celebrates traditional Thai dishes with a modern twist, crafted by expert Thai chefs. Expect a lively atmosphere, friendly service, and even outdoor seating for sunny days.

2. No No Please

  • Why we recommend: I have only been here once, but that one time was unforgettable. The drinks and cocktails were seasonal and liquor-forward, the dishes were memorablw for all the right reasons, and the interiors are a homage to 70s lounges, that we also enjoyed.

Set on Preston Street, No No Please is the brainchild of siblings Euan MacDonald and Mel Culcross, with executive chef Bookie Mitchell (also behind Namo) steering the menu. Interiors lean into mid-century modern with quirky touches like Warhol-inspired cutlery holders and owl ornaments dotted around the bar. The concept is Pan-Asian small plates with Thai influences, and dishes range from bang-bang chicken to slow-cooked beef cheek curry – all designed for sharing.

3. Namo

  • Why we recommend: If you're serious about Thai food, Namo is a must. It's where tradition meets creativity, thanks to chef-owner Bookie Mitchell's passion for authentic flavours and her knack for making every plate feel like a story.

Namo is the first solo venture from Bookie Mitchell, a Thai-born chef celebrated for her residencies and pop-ups across Brighton. The restaurant champions modern Thai dining with roots in Northern Thailand, blending family recipes with dishes inspired by Bookie's travels. Interiors feature bold blue and yellow tones for a vibrant, contemporary feel. Namo has earned a spot in Brighton's top restaurant lists and was highlighted by BBC Good Food as one of the city's best places to eat.

4. Cafe Chilli

  • Why we recommend: We think these guys really nail modern Thai dining with a stylish twist, making it great for casual dates or group dinners in the heart of The Lanes.

Chilli Brighton brings a fresh, vibrant approach to Thai cuisine, reimagining traditional flavours for contemporary diners. Expect a buzzy yet relaxed atmosphere, colourful interiors, and a menu that blends Thai staples with inventive dishes. It's the sister venue to the popular Chilli in Hove, making it a trusted name for quality Thai food.

5. Kanok Thai Brighton

  • Why we recommend: This is in our opinion, a great Thai restaurant to head to for that cosy, no-frills dinner (or lunch) experience. They're also just really lovely at service too, and make you feel like part of the family.

Kanok Thai is an independent restaurant known for its homely feel and consistently authentic dishes. The interiors are simple and welcoming, with wooden accents and warm lighting. Everything is cooked fresh to order, sticking to traditional Thai recipes that locals love.

6. Siam Siam

  • Why we recommend: Brighton is definitely all about independent spirit, and we think Siam Siam embodies that thanks to their family-run approach.

Located on Preston Street, Siam Siam prides itself on delivering the true taste of Thai cuisine, prepared with care and passion. The venue is intimate and friendly, offering both classic favourites and lesser-known regional dishes.

7. Sawadee Brighton

  • Why we recommend: Sawadee is all about comfort and consistency, the kind of place you return to time and again for proper Thai classics done right. It's warm, unfussy, and perfect for everything from a quick curry to a relaxed group dinner.

A long-standing favourite on St James Street in Kemptown, Sawadee serves authentic Thai cuisine in a simple, welcoming setting just steps from the seafront. The menu spans fragrant curries, stir-fries, and lighter plates, all cooked fresh by experienced Thai chefs. Known for its friendly service and flexibility (spice levels tailored to your taste), Sawadee caters to vegan and gluten-free diets and offers takeaway options.
