If you're on the hunt for a Mayfair wine bar, you’re spoilt for choice - but not all stemware is created equal. This corner of the West End has quietly evolved past typically private member labels to become one of London’s most dynamic places to drink, where hidden mews gems, historic cellars, and sleek hotel snugs pour everything from biodynamic grower Champagnes to cult Napa Cabernets and rare Grand Crus by the glass via Coravin.

Whether you’re after a quick glass of Meursault before dinner, a date-night with a serious old-world Burgundy list, or a lively counter serving low-intervention bottles alongside seasonal small plates, you'll find the Mayfair addresses worth knowing in our guide.

Wine Bars In Mayfair: A Local Guide

Sorry, the places listed below don't have online bookings available, but we hope you still find this list useful for your night out!

1. Farm Shop Wine Bar Mayfair

  • Location: 64 South Audley Street, W1K 2QT
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: backed by a genuinely knowledgeable team, it's a brilliant, low-pretension spot for anything from a sharp, estate-grown cider to a rare vintage pour. I'm particularly keen on their sparkling selection, where you can enjoy Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs (2020) from Kent by the glass

Tucked beneath the bustle of South Audley Street, Farm Shop Mayfair's Wine Bar is one of the neighbourhood's best-kept secrets - a candlelit cellar that trades on exceptional provenance. The daily changing menu of seasonal small plates, house-cured charcuterie, and generous British and European cheeseboards draws directly from the shop's own Somerset estate, offering a masterclass in farm-to-glass dining.

Come 5pm, the casual daytime ground-floor café transforms, extending the wine bar upstairs with a menu anchored by premium rotisserie chicken and impeccably matured cheeses, from sharp Somerset cheddars to gooey Vacherin Mont d'Or. The main draw for enthusiasts, however, is the extensive, globally minded 150-bin wine list. Available by the glass, carafe, or bottle, the selection includes exclusive bottles produced right on Farm Shop's Somerset estate.

2. Shepherd Market Wine House

  • Location: 21-23 Shepherd Market, W1J 7PN
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: I love teh fact that Shepherd Market Wine House doubles up as both an atmospheric wine bar and a boutique merchant, every bottle on the list is also available to take away. So, if you find a new favourite, you can enjoy it at home

Shepherd Market Wine House delivers a cosy, village-like escape that I really love. Bringing a distinct touch of Paris to London, this intimate space has a French bistro charm to it, with a warm, sociable energy.

They boast an impressive, globally sourced cellar with a proud, definitive focus on classic French bottles. The knowledgeable team are happy to guide you through the extensive list, whether you're revisiting a favourite region or exploring a new producer. To match, the food menu keeps things beautifully simple and classic, focusing on curated cheese and charcuterie sharing boards sourced from top-tier producers in France, Switzerland, and Italy.

3. Red Room

  • Location: The Connaught, 16 Carlos Place, W1K 2AL
  • Price: £££
  • Why I recommend: this is the perfect spot for those looking for somewhere special and dramatic to enjoy a glass or bottle. Their list is strong, spanning crisp Chablis from Burgundy, and dry Sancerre from Domaine Alain Gueneau, as well as tempting reds, like the Bourgogne, Domaine Frédéric Magnien

Hidden behind a discreet velvet curtain just off the hotel's legendary Champagne Room, The Red Room at The Connaught is one of the best wine bars in Mayfair. Conceived by designer Bryan O'Sullivan, the space is an immersive sanctuary featuring a striking pink onyx bar, a mosaic runway, and a gallery-worthy collection of red-themed works by visionary female artists, anchored by Louise Bourgeois' I Am Rouge.

The exceptional wine list is drawn directly from The Connaught's world-renowned multi-million-pound cellars, offering unparalleled access to historic vintages and rare cult labels alongside innovative, wine-led cocktails. The menu includes a selection of artisanal charcuterie, premium cheeses, and sophisticated small plates, such as veal carpaccio and crisp kale tempura, specifically crafted to complement and elevate the characteristics of each pour.

4. Clémence Bar

  • Location: 46-48 Shepherd Market, W1J 7QS
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: to round out the experience, I love the refined, French-inspired menu, which provides the perfect accompaniment to the premium pours, while an available cigar menu, if you're inclined, adds a final touch of classic Mayfair luxury

A sister venue to the established Shepherd Market Wine House, Clemence brings a touch of old-school Parisian indulgence to Mayfair mews. Understatedly elegant with its soft, chic lighting and plush seating, this intimate escape is one of the West End's premier destinations for a late-night date or an after-work retreat.

While the bar styles itself as a cocktail and Champagne den, the cellar curation is deeply sophisticated. The list features a stellar by-the-glass selection spanning mineral-driven Chablis and crisp Austrian Grüner Veltliner to serious old-world reds like Domaines Edmond de Rothschild Haut-Médoc. Those hunting for unexpected gems will find a dedicated orange and honey wine section, alongside a heavy-hitting bottle list packed with prestige cuvées from Dom Pérignon, Jacquesson, and Charles Heidsieck.

5. 67 Pall Mall

  • Location: 67 Pall Mall, SW1Y 5ES
  • Price: £££
  • Why I recommend: anchored by a relentless event calendar of masterclasses, global tastings, and an international network stretching from Singapore to Verbier, 67 Pall Mall remains the ultimate destination for those looking to take their wine obsession to the absolute highest tier

Technically situated just across the border in historic St James's, 67 Pall Mall is the spiritual mothership of London's fine wine community. Founded in 2015 by wine lovers for wine lovers, this pioneering private members' club was born with a democratic dedication to global viticulture. Spanning three masterfully designed floors inside a historic Edwin Lutyens building, the space bridges old-world oak panelling with slick, contemporary refinement.

Backed by a massive, award-winning sommelier team, the collection features 1,000 wines available by the glass and nearly 5,000 bins in total, representing 42 countries. Because everything is preserved under a massive Coravin infrastructure, members can seamlessly explore legendary Grand Crus, rare back-vintages, and unusual large formats without the barrier of buying the bottle.

6. Comptoir Café and Wine

  • Location: 21-22 Weighhouse Street, W1K 5LY
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: the entire cellar is a prime destination for bespoke wine experiences, accommodating private guided tastings for groups of six to 12 guests. I think that, whether you are booking a corporate blind-tasting or pulling up a stool for a casual glass of grower Champagne, Comptoir Cafe & Wine is a great pick

Comptoir Cafe & Wine's owner and Master Sommelier Xavier Rousset has curated a deeply impressive, world-class wine experience that functions as a casual daytime café on the ground floor before pivoting into a candlelit den. Descending into the lower-ground cellar reveals a sprawling boutique wine shop boasting a vast selection of over 800 bins from around the globe. At the heart of the space sits a cosy, 12-seat tasting table - an intimate focal point designed for spontaneous bottle shares, masterclasses, and private flights.

Beyond a casual drop-in, the atmospheric cellar serves as an experiential hub; the team hosts monthly themed tastings focusing on specific grapes, emerging trends, and masterclasses led by resident sommeliers and visiting winemakers.
