The best Shoreditch wine bars have transformed the East End into London’s premier destination for a pour. While this neighbourhood has long been the city's creative heartbeat, its evolution from a hub of late-night art parties to a world-class culinary district has brought with it a truly exceptional wine scene.

Today, the industrial-chic backstreets are home to some of the most forward-thinking lists in the country. From the pioneering low-intervention bottles at Sager + Wilde to the high-energy, vinyl-soundtracked rooms of Oranj, there is a distinct edge to its wine scene that you won't find anywhere else. Whether you’re after a rare grower Champagne or a funky orange wine, we’ve mapped out the essential spots where the atmosphere is as crisp as the Riesling.

Our Guide To The Best Wine Bars In Shoreditch

Renegade Wine Bar

  • Location: Arch 12 Gales Gardens, E2 0EJ
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: I find it amusing and striking that every bottle features the eyes of a real person living in the UK, celebrating the rich tapestry of the country. It's a brilliant, human touch. Beyond the bottles, you might find them hosting curated evenings

Tucked into a railway arch on Gales Gardens, Renegade is an innovation taproom where the rules of traditional viticulture are ignored. By sourcing top-tier grapes from both the UK and Europe, and processing them right here in London, they've created a space that feels more like a buzzy craft brewery than a formal tasting room.

While their main production has moved to Walthamstow, this original Bethnal Green arch remains the heart of their experimental spirit, featuring a baby grand piano, dim lighting, and a rotation of small plates like charcuterie boards and olives.

68 Wine Bar & Cellar

  • Location: Floor 1, 76 Commercial Street, E1 6LY
  • Price: ££-£££
  • Why I recommend: if the sheer breadth of the menu feels overwhelming, their 125ml flight selections are the perfect solution. It's an expert-led tour of the cellar that allows you to compare terroirs and styles side-by-side

68 Wine Bar & Cellar offers a choose-your-own-adventure experience across two distinct levels. At street level, the bar is a sun-soaked haven of rich wood and warm lighting, an ideal perch for alfresco sipping and people-watching as golden hour hits Spitalfields Market.

Descend into the cellar, however, and the atmosphere shifts to a romantic, subterranean hideaway featuring vaulted ceilings and intimate drinking coves. It's considered a steadfast favourite for those who want a refined experience without the white-glove pretension often found in more formal wine institutions. For the true oenophile looking for something rare, there is a secret stash. If you ask the team nicely, they'll present a curated selection of off-menu gems from the owner's private collection that you won't find on the standard list.

Vagabond Shoreditch

  • Location: 4 Principal Place, Worship Street, EC2A 2FA
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: there's a lovely alfresco feel to this venue, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows and heated roof terrace, ideal for opening a bottle among friends all year round. If you get hungry, order the pil pil prawns or truffle arancini, both designed to hold their own against the high-acid whites on tap

Located in the sleek Principal Place development, Vagabond Shoreditch is the ultimate drinking destination for the wine-curious. Forget the stiff service of traditional bars; here, the experience is built around their signature self-pour machines.

Following their integration into the wider Majestic Wine family, the Shoreditch site has become a flagship for their Urban Winery project, often pouring exclusive Bacchus and Pinot Noir vintages made just down the road in Battersea or at their massive new Canada Water facility. With over wines available by the glass, you can sample 25ml tasters of everything from a £95 Louis Roederer Champagne to a funky English sparkling.

Sager & Wilde

  • Location: 193 Hackney Road, E2 8JL
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: I think that their wine list is ideal for those looking to splash the cash without committing to a full bottle. By the glass, you can get Monban or Fumey Chatelian if you're in the mood for something sparkling, or a lovely white, like Magula Devin 'Jungberg' 2023

A rustic, chic Shoreditch wine bar, Sager + Wilde, occupies a beautifully refurbished historical pub, the British Lion. While the neighbourhood has changed around it, this spot remains the gold standard for serious wine in a relaxed setting.

It thrives under the leadership of General Manager Laís Aoki, maintaining its stripped-back, industrial aesthetic, complete with a cast-iron bar top and walls lined with rare bottles. It's famous for its ever-changing, daily-printed list. It allows you to explore niche regions, like a Slovakian Devin or a Georgian Tsiska, at a fraction of the price you'd pay in a white-tablecloth restaurant.

Passione Vino

  • Location: 85 Leonard Street, EC2A 4QS
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: the kitchen, led by Chef Pascal Lazzarotto, delivers honest Italian fare. Whether it's the perfectly al dente bigoli with duck ragu or the cloud-like focaccia, the food is designed to be the ultimate supporting act to the wine

On the hunt for a wine bar? Shoreditch's Passione Vino on Leonard Street is a gorgeous, grape-soaked fever dream. Founded by the legendary Luca Dusi, this Italian enclave is a kaleidoscope of quirky rooms connected by creaky staircases and hidden mirror doors.

It remains a staunch holdout against the standardised wine experience: there is no wine list. Instead, you are asked questions about your mood and cravings, resulting in a bespoke liquid journey through Italy's most soulful boutique labels. The magic here lies in trust.

Bastardo

  • Location: Unit 3, 201 Richmond Road, E8 3NJ
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: if you don't know your Pet Nats from your Pernand-Vergelesses, just ask; they're experts at finding you a sip that matches your mood rather than just your budget. Whether you're stopping in for a pre-dinner sharpener before a meal at Lardo or settling in for a glass or two with your friends on a Saturday night, it's a great shout for a cool drinking spot

Right next door to the neighbourhood restaurant Lardo in London Fields, Bastardo is the younger sibling that has quickly become a local obsession. It's an effortlessly cool space with a playful attitude. True to its Hackney roots, the service is friendly, and the policy is strictly walk-in only.

Bastardo has also made a name for itself with its sharing troughs of pasta on weekends. These aren't your average dainty portions; designed for groups of two to six, they are communal, seasonal, and best enjoyed alongside a bottle of something bright and bubbly. The wine list is a 70-bottle appreciation collection of European independent producers.

Crispin

  • Location: Pavilion on the Corner, White's Row, E1 7NF
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: the wine program remains one of the most thoughtfully curated in East London. You can expect a rotating selection of artisanal, old-world, and indigenous grape varieties, like a crisp Assyrtiko from Chios or a wild Uivo Pet Nat, all poured with genuine enthusiasm by a team that loves to tell the stories of the producers

When it comes to wine bars, Shoreditch's Crispin is one on a lot of people's lips, as well as its sister site in Soho. A striking glass-and-zinc pavilion that sits like a piece of modern art on the corner of White's Row, Crispin is Spitalfields' answer to the breezy, light-filled wine bars of Paris.

It's a sophisticated yet entirely relaxed space where floor-to-ceiling windows flood the dining room with natural light by day, while an intimate terrace offers a front-row seat to the market. It bridges the gap between restaurant and bar, with the kitchen under the guidance of head chef Sasha Brent, whose modern European plates are grounded and confident.

Funky Cellar

  • Location: 10a Lamb Street, E1 6EA
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: Funky Cellar has a particular affinity for skin-contact wines. Their orange section is expertly curated, featuring everything from the accessible Boir Pour Voir Sauvignon Gris to deep, amber cult classics like Radikon from the Italian border

Located on the edge of Old Spitalfields Market, Funky Cellar is a slice of 70s nostalgia that has quickly become a local favourite. The space is very retro-cool, and features eclectic vintage décor and warm, dim lighting with a soundtrack of soul and groove.

It's an essential wine bar to hit up for those who believe that world-class wine should be paired with a bit of playful personality and a lot of artisanal cheese. Under the guidance of sommelier and affineur Geoffrey Nivard, the selection is elite. Pick the artisan raclette or the decadent savoyarde fondue, which have become legendary for those long, indulgent afternoons.

BINCH

  • Location: 51 Greenwood Road, E8 1NT
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: Sylvain's heritage shines through in a cellar packed with boutique French labels, many sourced from small growers he's known since his youth in Paris. It's super cosy during the week, then on weekends, the atmosphere shifts as the hi-fi system takes centre stage

Just off London Fields on Greenwood Road, Binch is the sommelier's secret of Hackney. Housed in a striking blacked-out building with bold gold signage, this intimate 20-seater bar is the brainchild of Sylvain Bertozzi, a Parisian native who cut his teeth at the legendary Mother Kelly's and Borough Market. #

While it has the snug, buzzy energy of a local taproom, complete with bentwood stools and industrial lighting, the curation is world-class. It's a hybrid destination where French viticulture meets the UK craft beer scene. Binch expertly balances two worlds with a rotating tap list of six fine wines and six craft beers. It's an ideal spot for groups where one person wants a rare, low-intervention Gamay from a small-scale French vintner and the other is hunting for a local East London DIPA.

Oranj

  • Location: Dray Walk, E1 6QR
  • Price: ££-£££
  • Why I recommend: born as a lockdown delivery service, Oranj specialises in making natural wine accessible. The staff are experts at de-mystifying funky profiles, often guiding you with simple questions. I think the communal tables and loud playlists make it suitable for a group hangout

Now firmly settled into its expanded home on Dray Walk (having moved from its original Bacon Street garage in late 2025), Oranj has successfully transitioned from a cult-favorite pop-up to a Shoreditch institution. The aesthetic remains warehouse-chic, with whitewashed walls, corrugated metal accents, and those iconic wax-dripped bottles, but the new space adds a breezy terrace and a more ambitious open kitchen.

While it still feels like a private, NTS-soundtracked social club, the addition of a permanent restaurant concept under Culinary Director Yuto Fujimoto (formerly of Copenhagen's Kadeau) has elevated the food to match the stellar wine list.

Shoreditch Wine House

  • Location: 188 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6HU
  • Price: ££
  • Why I recommend: thanks to a specialised sommelier team with deep roots in Hungarian viticulture, this is one of the few places in London where you can explore high-quality Furmints and volcanic whites alongside classic French vintages

Shoreditch Wine House is the neighbourhood's best-kept secret. Owned by veteran sommelier Ben Van de Meutter, who brings over two decades of hospitality expertise to the floor, the space strikes a perfect balance between a sophisticated wine shop and a cosy, candlelit lounge.

It's a warm and inviting wine sanctuary, featuring an expansive list of over 160 bottles that traverse 30 countries, from the rolling hills of Burgundy to the experimental vineyards of the Czech Republic. The food menu is simple but executed well, and you should go for the wine house platter, which combines three cheeses, three charcuteries, and a creamy Burratina.
