Best Hackney Wine Bars

Sorry, the places listed below don't have online bookings available, but we hope you still find this list useful for your night out!

Sager & Wilde

  • Location: 193 Hackney Road, E2 8JL
  • Price: £££
  • Why we recommend: boasting an enormous range of wines served in glass or bottle form, as well as tasty small plates, this sleek venue has a rustic, traditional feel to it

A popular Hackney Road destination, Sager & Wilde is found inside the refurbished, historical British Lion Pub. The inside has been stripped down and taken back to its roots, with exposed brickwork, dark furniture and a tiled bar.

They sell wines both by the bottle and the glass, with a huge selection to choose from. You can enjoy small plates and sharers at the same time, including charcuterie plates, grilled leeks and anchovies with sourdough.

BINCH

  • Location: 51 Greenwood Road, E8 1NT
  • Price: ££
  • Why we recommend: this one is ideal for wine and beer lovers alike, offering an affordable selection of bottles and glasses which you can drink at the bar or on their counter seating

A bottleshop and bar close to London Fields, BINCH is a cosy spot inside a blacked-out building. It's snug and welcoming inside, with shelves stacked full of wine bottles, moody grey walls and rustic wooden floors.

Their wine is sourced from French vineyards, and they also serve craft beer from local breweries. Grab a stool at the bar, and sample a wide range of delicious drinks.

La Bibliotheque

  • Location: 325 Kingsland Road, E8 4DL
  • Price: £££
  • Why we recommend: if you want to make a real night of it, La Bibliotheque is a sophisticated choice for both food and drink. Or for something more casual, a glass of wine on the terrace is idyllic

A fine dining restaurant and wine bar all in one, La Bibliotheque is a must-visit for lovers of luxury. It's got a restaurant and bar full of dark, moody decor, as well as an outdoor terrace, with the bar section led by Melissa Frangi.

There's an extensive range of wines to get into, many of which are available by the glass. This includes several sweet and fortified options. Food-wise, think burrata with heirloo tomatoes, teriyaki-glazed pork belly, chilli prawns and more.

Marksman

  • Location: 254 Hackney Road, E2 7SJ
  • Price: ££
  • Why we recommend: a charming pub and bar with a vast wine list, Marksman is perfect if you're after somewhere cosy and a little more laid-back

Though it may be more of a pub than a traditional wine bar, we had to include this one as their wine list is impeccable. London's first public house to win a Michelin Pub of the Year award, Marksman is a traditional spot with a pool table and screens.

Take a seat under the chandeliers to sip red, white, rosé, orange or sparkling wine. Feeling peckish? They also serve everything from chicken and wild garlic pie to steamed sea trout or leek and broad bean tart.

Bastardo

  • Location: Unit 3, 201 Richmond Road, E8 3NJ
  • Price: ££
  • Why we recommend: nailing the perfect combination of wine and Italian plates, Bastardo is a stylish bar with a gorgeous terrace and interiors alike

Sat next door to the much-loved Lardo, Bastardo is the cool younger sibling with a focus on bold wines. The sleek interiors are filled with wine bottles, and there's a spacious outdoor terrace that's perfect for summer.

Their drinks menu is natural, seasonal and focuses on low-intervention bottles from independent producers. Pair these with Italian small plates, which change with the seasons as well.

Little Duck The Picklery

  • Location: 68 Dalston Lane, E8 3AH
  • Price: ££
  • Why we recommend: this charming all-day destination serves a huge array of wines, including one of the best selections of orange wine around, and their food menu is to-die-for

Brought to you by the trio behind Ducksoup and Rawduck, Little Duck The Picklery is a restaurant and wine bar that welcomes you all day long. Their list of wines is absolutely enormous, featuring orange wines and fizz as well as all the classics.

The interior is homely, full of natural light, pretty plants and wooden furnishings - and there's an outdoor terrace too. To go with your wine? An inventive food menu that focuses on fermented foods, from ricotta ravioli to ork chop with margherita onions.
