While the Vikings may not have been the most civilised people to cross these shores, Scandinavians have brought us a number of great things other than IKEA and Swedish meatballs. There's also a gorgeous selection of Scandinavian bars and restaurants in London, including Danish sushi joints, beautiful eateries and fun cocktail dens. So what are you waiting for? See for yourself.

The Kenton

Blending a traditional English pub with a Norwegian atmosphere, The Kenton has created a winning combination. A quirky place that is home to a mixed crowd of punters, it also offers a number of events from foreign film nights, DJ sets and quiz nights, and has truly created the best of both worlds.

KoD City

With its exposed brick, dark wood and hygge vibes, KöD London City brings Denmark to Devonshire Square. The main attraction on the menu is prime cuts of meat, cooked exactly how you want them. We're talking rib eye, sirloin, pork belly and plenty more.

Elsewhere, there's something for all kinds of tastebud, from vegan meatballs and prawn tacos to buffalo wings and roasted salmon. That's before you've made your way to the drinks list, packing in worldly wines, craft beers and more than a few cracking cocktails.

Punk Royale

Originally launched in Stockholm by co-founder Jokke Almqvist and chef Katherine Bont, Punk Royale is shaking up Mayfair with its first permanent UK outpost. Its brutal bistro concept is a firm cult favourite, packing in delicious dishes and plenty of theatrics.

We're talking a 20-course tasting menu packing in foie gras, langoustine nigiri and caviar bumps licked off your hand and chased with vodka. As you tuck in, there's smoke machines, neon lights and non-stop party vibes to keep you well and truly entertained.

hicce

Truly a unique Nordic restaurant in London, Hicce knocks up traditional British dishes which take influence from Japanese and Scandinavian fare. Head to Coal Drops Yard as this fire restaurant whips up sea bream ceviche and beef bavette.
