Best Pubs In Hackney Wick

Two More Years

  • Location: 7 Roach Road, E3 2PA
  • Best for: natural, organic wines and riverside views
  • Why we recommend: the waterfront views are truly gorgeous here, and the team have done an amazing job of transforming an abandoned space into something vibrant and community-focused

A trendy, warehouse-style space overlooking the River Lea, Two More Years is a pub, bar and restaurant all rolled into one. They have saved an iconic London venue from demolition (occupying what was previously Stour Space), and their name is a reflection of the amount of time they have left on their lease before the property is redeveloped.

Take a seat outside to look out at the water as you drink, or head indoors for a relaxed space willed with foliage and bricks. They serve 17 natural, biodynamic, and organic wines, with four on tap, as well as craft beer from award-winning sustainable brewery Purity Brewing Company. Plus, you can enjoy sumptuous Caribbean street food from Only Jerkin.

Howling Hops Tank Bar

Happy Hour!

  • Location: Unit 9A Queen's Yard, White Post Lane, E9 5EN
  • Best for: beer brewed on-site
  • Why we recommend: the beer here is ultra-fresh and paired well with a selection of Latin fusion dishes, making for a delicious day out

Flaunting 10 giant tanks that serve 10 different beers on-site, Howling Hops Tank Bar is a charming brewery and pub. This is the first venue of its kind in the UK, featuring an enormous beer hall and an outdoor area - with live music and vinyl DJs every weekend.

Alongside their refreshing drinks, you can enjoy mouthwatering eats from La Cumbia. Think crispy cauliflower burritos, slow-cooked brisket tacos, double beef smash burgers and much more.

Barge East

  • Location: River Lee, Sweetwater Mooring, White Post Lane, E9 5EN
  • Best for: drinks on a boat
  • Why we recommend: this is possibly Hackney Wick's most unique pub and restaurant, and their sustainable ethos makes us feel good while dining here

A historic 125-year-old Dutch barge on the River Lee, Barge East and its adjoining gardens are an excellent choice for drinking and dining. They're dedicated to sustainability, serving a seasonal menu and drinks sourced from local suppliers and brewers.

Admire the views as you dine, or venture inside the boat on a cloudier day. On the menu? Everything from wild sea bass to saltmarsh lamb dumplings and British asparagus tacos.

Beer Merchants Tap

  • Location: 99 Wallis Road, E9 5LN
  • Best for: craft beer
  • Why we recommend: there's nowhere better to be for beer, as these guys boast one of the most impressive selections around. We also love the cool, industrial vibe here

A one-minute walk from Hackney Wick station, Beer Merchants Tap is a must-visit for any craft beer lovers out there. They've got 20 taps, two cask pumps and over 500 bottles and cans of the stuff, among other drinks, so there's always a delicious new tipple to try out.

The interior features exposed brickwork, long wooden tables and hanging strings of fairy lights, creating a cosy, urban feel. There's also an outdoor terrace that's great for summer. If you're hungry, they also serve bar snacks or a selection of cheese and meat platters.

Lord Napier & Star

Two for £14 Cocktails Thursdays and 5 other offers

  • Location: 25 White Post Lane, E9 5ER
  • Best for: DJ nights
  • Why we recommend: from rooftop terraces to private karaoke rooms, this place has got everything you could want from your local boozer

Having reponed after a 20-year closure, local legend Lord Napier & Star fronts a graffiti-covered exterior and a welcoming atmosphere. They host some of the city's best DJs, performing every weekend, or visit during the week for a more chilled vibe.

Their spacious roof terrace and garden are perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint or two, and they've even got a private karaoke room too. You can also nab tasty food from kitchen residents Oh My Dog, serving up hot dogs, burgers and small plates.

The Lock Inn

  • Location: 26 E Bay Lane, E15 2GW
  • Best for: a canalside beer garden
  • Why we recommend: we love spending an afternoon drinking cocktails overlooking the water, and their events are well-worth checking out too

A neighbourhood pub that provides one of the best beer gardens around, The Lock Inn is a top choice for drinks along the canal. As lovely as the outdoor space is, the interior is great too, featuring a bold red colour scheme, white tile walls and wooden furniture.

They host a wide range of events here, from pub quizzes to live traditional Irish music and sports screenings. Sip cocktails or craft beers from local breweries, paired with plates like homemade short rib burgers, four cheese pizzas and deep-fried squid.
