Where To Eat Pizza By The Slice In London

Sometimes, and we mean very rarely, the prospect of devouring a whole pizza can seem a bit too daunting. That's where the slice comes in, satisfying your cravings for stringy mozzarella and a deep, rich marinara without checking too much into crust town.

Pizza by the slice as we know it today has its roots in New York City in the early-to-mid 20th century. The concept spread across the U.S. and eventually globally. London, with its love of convenient, grab-and-go food, naturally embraced it, but with its own twists like Detroit-style slices from artisanal pizza spots in Soho alongside classic New York–inspired slabs in Shoreditch. Which is why we’ve tracked down the spots serving what we believe to be the best pizza by the slice London has to offer. Happy eating.

Our Guide To Pizza By The Slice In London

1. Ria's

  • Locations: 29 Foubert's Place, W1F 7QF, and 29 All Saints Road, W11 1HE
  • Price: from £5.50 per slice
  • Style: Detroit
  • Why we recommend: Ria's has captured our hearts as the perfect place to enjoy a group dinner while keeping things sophisticated and affordable, which is a great achievement considering its prime locations

In 2023, Detroit-style pizza and natural wine restaurant Ria's opened in Notting Hill. Fast forward to 2025, and you'll find it got a stylish younger sibling in the heart of Carnaby. Inside the latter outpost, you'll be greeted by a bold, design-led interior spanning two floors. Upstairs, the open kitchen and eclectic seating set the scene for a casual bite, while downstairs, a cosy wine cave with aged oak, a marble sharing table, and racks of bottles make it perfect for intimate catch-ups.

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Ria and David Morgan-Ratcliffe, who swapped tech careers for dough this, it's home to thick focaccia bases and super crispy sides. Our personal favourites include the House Pie, made using red sauce, a ricotta drizzle, and a basil and lemon drizzle, as well as Dave's Hot Pep, featuring calabrian chillies and hot honey. It's the perfect place to grab pizza by the slice in Soho.

  • Why we recommend: if you head to the Bethnal Green restaurant, make sure to pair your meal with a cold local beer, a natural wine, or one of their house-made shots, from limoncello to picklebacks

Wherever you are in London, there'll be a Bad Boy Pizza Society not too far from you, thanks to its locations spanning Tulse Hill to London Bridge. It's the Seven Dial Market and flagship pizzeria in Bethnal Green where you'll find satisfying grab-and-go slices, though. It's taken a university parody society that started chasing discounted pizza and turned it into one of London’s most talked-about pizza destinations.

The team behind it has earned national acclaim, scooping the National Pizza of the Year award in both 2022 and 2024. The star attraction? The Notorious P.I.G, topped with mozzarella, pepperoni, 'nduja and hot honey, which comes in at £5.80 per slice. Delicious.

3. Joe Public

  • Location: 4 The Pavement, Clapham Common, SW4 0HY
  • Price: from £4.50 per slice
  • Type: New York
  • Why we recommend: this restaurant is Quirky, clever, and very fun; Joe Public is one of SW4’s must-visit spots for pizza lovers who are after a classic New York-style slice with an epic cheese pull

Clapham Common is home to Joe Public, a restaurant that has transformed a long-forgotten Victorian public lavatory into a playful, laidback pizza spot. From the same team behind the elusive WC Wine Bar, this is pizza with a Stateside grab-and-go philosophy, perfect for walking to get the next tube without leaving your slice behind.

Inside, the stripped-back space seats just 14, with a quick-serve hatch too, while the menu focuses on 20-inch Californian-style sourdough pizzas loaded with fresh, seasonal toppings. Think bold combinations like Native Mushroom with truffle oil and crispy onions, or the meaty Texas Joe.

For giant New York-style slices, Voodoo Ray’s is a Dalston and Peckham institution that’s been serving up pizza dreams since 2012. Known for its 22-inch pies, creamy mozzarella, puffy, crunchy crusts, and imported San Marzano tomatoes, this is pizza that fills you up.

  • Style: Neapolitan
  • Why we recommend: the pizza at Breadstall is seriously addictive, and the dough is so light and fluffy; you can tell these guys are bakers

Breadstall, born from a cult-favourite van on Northcote Road, now calls Berwick Street home too. Here you'll find flour-dusted counters, tiled surfaces, and daily updates on dough, flour, and water temperatures scrawled for all to see - a working bakery first, pizzeria second.

Co-founded by Honest Burgers’ Dorian Waite and baker Sebastian Vince, Breadstall is all about craft, precision, and slow-fermented biga dough. The pizzas are light, crisp, and built for sharing, available by the quarter, half, or whole. The menu balances simple classics like margherita and pepperoni with more playful options like rocket burrata with pesto, spicy pepperoni with candied jalapeños and hot honey, or the 'M.V.P. - a triple-threat of marinara, vodka sauce, and pesto.

  • Price: from £5.50 per slice
  • Style: 20-inch pizzas with Neapolitan ingredients
  • Why we recommend: for an affordable bite to eat, we can't rate this place enough. Homeslice is a legend on the city's slice scene, and the proof is in the pizza (which goes very well with some garlic bread too, may we add)

On the prowl for pizza by the slice? Covent Garden's Homeslice can help you out, as well as its location in the City if you find yourself East. What started in 2011 as a humble mobile wood-fired oven at London Fields Brewery quickly became a London institution, selling out within hours and making its way from markets and festivals to a residency at King’s Cross Filling Station. By 2013, Homeslice had laid down roots in Neal’s Yard.

Here, slices are big, bold, and shareable, with dough charred in hand-built wood-fired ovens, fresh mozzarella flown in from Naples, and toppings sourced locally and seasonally wherever possible. You can grab a margherita for £5.50, a mushroom for £6, or a slamai for £6, which are all perfectly washed down with craft beers from London’s finest breweries or a glass of prosecco.

7. Slayer

  • Location: 226 Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill, W11 2RH
  • Price: from £4.20 per slice
  • Type: New York-Italian
  • Why we recommend: Slayer is great value for money, especially considering their ingredients are so thought through and specially sourced. It's a great shout for a restaurant that screams trendy but has the sustenance to make it a favourite for many

For pizza by the slice in West London, head to Slayer, a restaurant that's all about 'no flop, just crunch'. At its core, it's a New York-inspired pizzeria with the soul of an Italian bakery. Their whole mission? Treat pizza-making like an art form. That means meticulous pre-fermentation, temperature-obsessed dough work, and premium Italian ingredients sourced straight from Tuscany and Campania.

Slayer splits its personality in two: a grab-and-go slice counter for those who want a quick hit of crunchy-base bliss, and an elevated dining space where you can enjoy cocktails, spritzes, and bottles of Italian wine. The star of the show is The 226, a richly layered masterpiece topped with Italian ham, fennel sausage, crispy guanciale, and a cloud of fresh basil.

8. Slice Club

  • Location: 29 White Post Lane, Hackney Wick, E9 5EN
  • Price: from £4.50 per slice
  • Type: New York
  • Why we recommend: this neighbourhood spot in Hackney Wick has a loyal following and rightly so. You can also find a slice of the action over at Two Tribes Brewery in King's Cross if you can't make it across to East

Slice Club in Hackney Wick is the spot for bold, New York-inspired pizzas by the slice. These guys have been slinging giant 18-inch beauties and foldable slices since 2021, when the team built the place during the depths of the pandemic and came out swinging.

Expect stone-baked, made-to-order pies with dough prepped fresh in-store every single day with proper Italian technique, with a Brooklyn attitude. You can go classic with one of their signature pizza slices or embrace your inner pizza anarchist and build your own half-and-half situation should you find yourself ravenous.

9. Vinceno's

  • Location: 122 Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch, E2 6DG
  • Price: from £5 per slice
  • Type: New York
  • Why we recommend: open from 5pm ‘til late, Vincenzo’s feels tailor-made for Shoreditch nights. East London is where its slice shop was made to thrive

London’s love affair with New York–style pizza isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and Shoreditch has scored big time with Vincenzo’s, the cult-favourite pizzeria that first made waves in Bushey. This new outpost flips the script a little to its original outpost, as it’s all about pizza by the slice, starting from just £5, making it a dangerously convenient late-night go-to.

On the menu? Crowd-pleasing classics like margherita, tomato and pepperoni, vodka sauce and burrata slices, plus a curveball you’ll want to immediately order: the spanakopita slice, a Greek-inspired twist that somehow just works. You can also drizzle hot honey, pile on fresh pesto, or crown any slice with burrata.
