Our Review Of Tutto: Italian Dining From Brighton’s Award-Winning Restaurant Group

If a stroll around The Lanes isn’t quite replicating a schmooze in a tranquil European city (even with an Aperol in hand), then why not pair it with a trip to one of the city's finest Italian dining spots? ‘Bring everyone, eat everything’ is the ethos Tutto lives by, and it’s safe to say you’ll want to do both after visiting here.

Tutto, Razek Helalat’s first Italian venture, landed on the Brighton dining scene in 2022, following the opening of its sister restaurants The Coal Shed, The Saltroom and Burnt Orange. Set inside a gorgeous Grade II-listed former bank on Marlborough Place, the decadent dining spot was listed in the 2025 Michelin Guide, making its well-deserved mark in East Sussex.

Ambience & We Think Perfect For

  • Atmosphere: the large arched windows, golden lighting and dashes of greenery lifted us out of rainy Brighton and into an Italian trattoria. A striped awning covered outdoor tables at the front of the restaurant (with some opting to sit outside despite the storm), which were reminiscent of European alfresco terraces
  • Perfect for: whether you’re after an intimate dinner date, catch up with friends or somewhere to solo dine when craving a delicious bowl of pasta, Tutto is just the ticket

Menu Highlights

Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Grilled prawns (£13) - smothered in nduja butter, the grilled prawns were succulent and fresh, with the lime adding a delicious ounce of sourness
  • Sticky lamb chops (£27) - the sticky lamb chops were the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation and go back in for another bite. Glossed in a rich salsa verde that clung to the charred edges, they arrived blushing and beautifully caramelised
  • Calamari Fritti (£11.50) - I could have eaten this dish forever. The deep-fried calamari came with a delicious crunch and was served with samphire and bergamot mayo, a refreshing and addictive dip that I kept on the table for the duration of our dining experience

Drink: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Spicy pomegranate margarita (£12.50) - I am always on the hunt for a delicious spicy margarita, and this one did not disappoint. This pink blush sip was the perfect palate cleanser in between courses, and the spiced rim offered a welcoming warmth
  • Pistachio espresso martini (£13) - a decadent and trendy twist on the classic, this version blended mascarpone-washed Burnt Faith vodka with Cazcabel coffee tequila, creating a base that’s smooth with a deep, roasted kick. Topped with a cloud of pistachio foam, it arrived looking as glamorous as it tasted. Silky and dangerously sippable, it balanced sweetness and strength with pride

Our Overall Experience At Tutto

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tutto is the regalo (Italian for gift) that keeps on giving. From the moment I walked in, the charm, warmth and love for everything Italian flooded my senses. The food is what puts it on the map, but the genuine hospitality is what makes the Tutto experience so special. After recently visiting both Milan and Florence, I can safely say that this unassuming spot brings a slice of Italy to Brighton.
