Sorry, the places listed below don't have online bookings available, but we hope you still find this list useful for your night out!

1. Rileys Liverpool

  • Where: Bolton Street, Liverpool city centre, L3 5LX
  • Pool facilities: English and American pool tables and snooker tables
  • Other highlights: darts lanes and huge TVs showcasing live sports, plus family-friendly weekends

Rileys Sports Bar is undoubtedly one of the best pool halls in Liverpool city centre. It's home to plenty of English pool tables (featuring 8 red and yellow balls on either 6ft or 7ft tables), with perfect green surfaces to play on, so you won't have to worry about a skewed ball thanks to a dodgy divot. Their tables are slightly shorter than international standard, so they're perfect for players of all levels.

Or if you want to play like you're across the pond, they also have American pool, with beautiful blue baizes, not to mention those classic spots and stripes balls. Rack 'em up, break and then show your competition what you're made of, or just have a friendly catch-up with mates while you perfect your angle shots and backspin. They even host leagues and tournaments if you want to really develop your skills.

But that's not all, as this joint also has dart lanes if you fancy a change of game, not to mention huge screens (including a 75incher) showing live spots. Worked up an appetite? Dig into their all-day menu of small plates, platters, burgers and hotdogs, washed down with beer or spirits from the drinks list.

2. Boom Battle Bar Liverpool

  • Where: 101-110 St Georges Way, Liverpool city centre, L1 1LU
  • Pool facilities: 5 American pool tables
  • Other highlights: other games, like axe throwing and crazy golf, not to mention crowd-pleasing food and drinks

An entertainment destination if we ever saw one, Boom Battle Bar in the city centre offers competitive socialising with a range of games on the cards, from axe throwing and crazy golf to shuffleboard and, of course, pool. The tables are set in a lively, neon-lit space that combines the fun of playing pool with a high-energy bar scene, which is perfect for group activities, unique date nights and even team socials.

To refuel, check out the menu of street food, featuring fried chicken burgers, bacon parmesan loaded fries, cauliflower wings, chicken tenders and more. And you won't be going thirsty either, as the drinks menu showcases classic and signature cocktails alongside beers, shots and spirits.

3. Roxy Ball Room

  • Where: Liverpool ONE, 26 College Lane, Liverpool city centre, L1 3DS
  • Pool facilities: American-style tables and "crazy pool" (a pool-crazy golf hybrid)
  • Other highlights: more games, like tech darts, shuffleboard and ping pong, plus a buzzing, social atmosphere

Thanks to numerous American pool tables, with vibrant blue surfaces and shiny spots and stripes balls (and even diamonds along the rails to help with your angles), Roxy Ball Room is one of the best places for pool in Liverpool city centre. Grab your mate, or even the whole gang, and head over for an electric evening of jump, curve and combination shots.

And if you fancy trying something a little different? Roxy Ball Room is also the home of Crazy Pool (£8 per person). Exactly as the name suggests, it's a blend of crazy golf and pool, featuring a range of quirky remastered tables that add a little extra challenge and creativity to the game - think wild angles, trick shots and out-of-the-box techniques.

Food-wise, get ready for hand-stretched, Italian focaccia pizzas, bratwurst hotdogs, chicken wings and loaded fries, complemented by a lineup of drinks that spans draught beers, signature cocktails, wine and shooters.

4. Boston Pool Loft

  • Where: 46-50 Wood St, Concert Square, L1 4AQ
  • Pool facilities: American pool, British pool, snooker and 'footpool'
  • Other highlights: shuffleboard, table tennis, darts, arcade games and live sports

Found just off Concert Square, Boston Pool Loft is an American-style pool table with a cool, urban vibe and a strong focus on cue sports, with a range of American, British and snooker tables - not to mention 'footpool' tables (basically football, but in a pool-style setting - you'll have to try it for yourself).

Completing the experience is the fun yet chilled-out vibe and big-screen TVs playing live sports. It's a great spot for a night out, as they have a range of great drinks up for grabs (think quirky, signature cocktails and draught beers), plus even when you're finished with pool you'll never get bored, with darts, arcade games and more available too.
