Oranj

Description

Oranj is a dynamic wine bar tucked away in a converted warehouse on Bacon Street in Shoreditch. With its industrial aesthetic - whitewashed walls, corrugated metal roofing, and wax-dripped wine bottles doubling as candle holders - it feels more like a buzzing underground social club than a traditional bar. The entrance is deliberately understated, marked only by a heavy steel door and a warm orange glow, adding to its speakeasy allure. Inside, the atmosphere is lively and communal, with a high-energy vibe driven by music, conversation, and an open kitchen that anchors the space.

It also has a rotating lineup of acclaimed kitchen residencies, featuring chefs from across the culinary spectrum. Past collaborators include Helen Graham (formerly of Bubala), known for her inventive, plant-led Middle Eastern cuisine, and pop-ups like Ha’s Đặc Biệt from New York and Decatur’s New Orleans-inspired fare. The wine program is equally thoughtful, rooted in Oranj’s origins as a lockdown-era natural wine delivery service. The list is accessible yet adventurous, offering everything from funky orange wines to creamy whites and bold reds, with staff on hand to guide guests through the selection.
