Our Review Of Heard Soho: Burgers By Two Michelin-Starred Chef Jordan Bailey

On Valentine’s Day this year, two Michelin-starred chef Jordan Bailey opened Heard, a burger pop-up in Borough Market (because nothing says love like biting into a juicy patty in front of your loved one and watching a waterfall of molten cheese and beef fat pour out the sides, truly at your most vulnerable). It was such a success that it became a permanent fixture.

Fast forward to autumn, and a Soho outpost opened up in the heart of Carnaby, turning the finest UK produce into a short but sweet menu of glossy-looking burgers. The question then remained for only very few Londoners: had you heard of Heard?

Ambience & We Think Perfect For

  • Atmosphere: the Soho branch features a handful of green leather seats, a colour palette that homes in on the restaurant’s ‘best ingredients’ ethos, with British beef coming from a cooperative of regenerative farms. There was undoubtedly a buzz about the space, with the queue going out the door at 7.30pm on a Thursday.
  • Perfect for: groups looking to dine casually, but with the added excitement of something new.  If you were organising a second date, then Heard would be a great shout. Casual and affordable enough, but with a big chef's name behind it, which makes it a little bit cooler than your average burger spot.

Menu Highlights

  • Food⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Drink: ⭐⭐⭐
  • The Heard (£13) - AKA Jordan's pick; the burger that started it all. It came glistening, with two double smash patties sandwiched between a butter-toasted, roast potato bun, Ogleshield cheese, white onion, signature Heard sauce and pickles, plus the star of the show: jalapeno hot honey. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty.
  • The Smoke Stack (£13) - my partner wolfed this down, adding a third patty into the mix (he was incredibly hungry). It had a warming combination of Red Leicester and smoked bacon jam with umami qualities that sang to all the savoury components.
  • Heard fries (£4.50) - if you like your chips with a crispy coating that crumbles into a fluffy pillow of salty potato as soon as you bite into them, then you’ll love these. They come seasoned with beef fat and herb salt that gives a gentle smoky flavour to them, making them dangerously addictive.
  • Jalapeno-spiced margarita (£10) and olive oil negroni (£10): the latter was a meek pour, but had a nice burn and kick all the same; my only wish was that there was perhaps more of it. I found the margarita to be a little sloppily served, with what little salt around the rim was floating in the drink.

Our Overall Experience At Heard Soho

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had a great time at Heard Soho; the restaurant had the pace of a fast-food restaurant, as well as the service (our waiter was incredibly chirpy and efficient). Jordan Bailey is clever for making his signature dish one with hot honey; he understands that in 2025, that’s what the people want. It’s a massive contrast to the culinary environments he rose to fame in, so I’m very curious to see whether Heard can maintain its hype without going too gastro in a fast-food setting, flourishing without falling into London’s burger abyss.
