This New Restaurant Is Giving Scottish Scran A Fine Dining Twist

Glaschu

TBC March

There’s few things as comforting as home cooking, and now this new restaurant is putting a fine dining twist on proceedings. Located within Royal Exchange Square, Glaschu is carrying Glasgow’s Gaelic namesake, serving elevated Scottish dishes within a modern setting.

The restaurant will embrace local produce, enlisting help from the city’s top fishmongers, butchers and cheesemakers to build its menu. Plates will include house pickled mussels, whelks and cockles, grilled fillet of beef with a beef fat chip, mushroom and truffle ketchup and smoked bone marrow jus, and pineapple carpaccio, all of which will spark fond memories for Glaswegians. Meanwhile brunch options will range from hearty morning rolls and Scottish brekkies, to buttermilk pear and frangipane pancakes made a little more glam when paired with a couple of glasses of prosecco.

Of course the cocktail menu carries the same sentiment, with creations that celebrate special people from the city’s past. For example, Marrochetti honours the Italian-born sculptor who created the Duke of Wellington statue with its blend of basil, Limoncello and Beefeater gin.
