What they say:

The Hope has had quite the face-lift with a new name, The Hope & Ruin, following a total rip out and refurbish job. The former glorified gig venue has been made over into a den of quirky decor and mish-mashed style with a 100 capacity venue space leaving the whole top floor to be dedicated to live music nights and performances. There'll be a traditional good spread of beers to please the punters, as well as a complete food menu serving up hearty pub nosh as well as tapas and pizzas.

What we say:

Rough paintwork, shabby interiors and things hanging off the walls seem to characterise the new Hope & Ruin physique, which channels an Eastern European bar attitude of rustic, urban edge. With an increased capacity and dedicated space, this boozer will once again lay claim to some of the latest and greatest music industry stars on its stage, hosting live performances and other events. Pub grub, beers on tap and the feel of a Berlin-meets-Brighton joint sounds like a success to us.
