What they say:
The renowned Soho House brand is opening a new house in Brighton this year, settling down on the city's famous seafront. Drawing in A-list celebrities and with sites across the world, the group of venues in the Soho House stable are arguably the most exclusive spots in town. The new Brighton venture will follow in the footsteps of the other sites, offering guests a quaint vintage bar alongside Italian restaurant Cecconi's and an elegant rooftop terrace, equipped with its own shallow swimming pool. Though access to this new venue will be heavily restricted, anyone that manages to get in might find themselves brushing shoulders with the likes of Alexa Chung, Johnny Depp and Madonna.
What we say:
Private members bars are often the source of so much frustration these days, with their steep prices and restricted access. But once you've made your way passed the clipboard at the door, you're usually promised a night that you won't forget. Brighton's Soho House fits perfectly into this pattern. Access is by no means easy; you first have to be recommended by two existing members, before paying a minimum of £600 as a membership fee. But you'll probably forget all about this once to lay eyes on the stunning sea-facing rooftop terrace and pool. It's the light at the end of the path, the pie in the sky and the town on the hilltop, all wrapped together in a neat package; once you're in, you know you've made it big.
