DANE BAPTISTE

Original, provocative and exceptionally prolific – Baptiste is already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years. The London born stand up made comedy history in 2014 as the first black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He had incredible success with his debut stand up show Citizen Dane, completing two sold out runs at London’s Soho Theatre (with additional dates added due to phenomenal demand). He has since written and starred in his own BBC sitcom series and made numerous other TV and radio appearances. His second stand up show Reasonable Doubts was met with sold out audiences and huge critical acclaim at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe, with his first nationwide solo tour following in 2016. In 2017, he presented his third stand up hour G.O.D. (Gold. Oil. Drugs.) about our worldwide pursuit of wealth, power and pleasure which achieved another total sell out run.

"A striking set." Guardian

"Observational comedy at its finest." The Independent

"A comical genius." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

LAURA DAVIS

Sharp, charming and delightful, Laura Davis is an Australian Comedian who has been earning praise and acclaim for years. Winner of the Golden Gibbo and Best Comedy Show awards at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Laura is a rare and truly unique experience for the comedy savvy.  Laura made her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2017 with Cake in the Rain and returned 2018 with a reprise of Ghost Machine. Both shows received widespread critical acclaim and secured subsequent runs at London’s Soho Theatre. This summer will see Laura return to the Fringe with her latest show, Better Dead than a Coward.  She has also been a guest on several of the UK’s leading podcasts, including The Adam Buxton Podcast, The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast and The Guilty Feminist.

“An hour with Laura Davis leaves you feeling uplifted, somewhat bewildered and utterly amazed by such blistering talent.“ Time Out

“A lot of laughs from this rising stand-up star.” The List

SAM LAKE

A winner of several new act competitions, Sam set is full of lighthearted, cheerful humour mostly about being a Cornish gay man about to get married. Witty observations mixed with a healthy amount of tongue in cheek campness.

"Makes for fantastic company. A thoroughly engaging larger-than-life personality." Chortle

GREG FAULKNER

Greg Faulkner’s comedy is a mix of satire, sarcasm and impressions. He was resident MC at The Comedy Cafe Theatre and now MCs for them in Oslo, Norway, as well as gigging at clubs around the UK.  He exudes a mix of robust irish charm and an astonishing range of voices, facial expressions and mimicry.

JESS BRAY

Jess is a brand new, freshly minted comic. We get requests all the time from new acts wanting to come play at the venue and her video was full of spritely invention and charm which we couldn't say no to.  We're getting out our big red pen and hotly tipping this one!

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

Freshly returned from the Edinburgh Festival, Ben is ready to take the helm at Good Ship once more and steer it through the vast ocean of comedy we have on offer.  One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
