We Visited Liverpool Street's Exciting New Brasserie With A Rotating Lineup Of Guest Chefs

If you’re anything like me, then deciding on somewhere to eat can be quite a challenge (I even struggle to choose a meal deal). So, when I heard that Revolve Brasserie was bringing a cool concept of rotating guest chefs, I was pretty intrigued. This Liverpool Street hotspot will be offering up a roster of big Michelin star names alongside up-and-coming talent, who aim to reinvent the menu. Founded by Tristram Hillier, Andrew Fishwick and Romain Pottier, this haunt is inspired by restaurants in Paris and New York, with a focus on well-loved, yet, classic French dishes.

Although we got caught in a little rain on the way there (my boyfriend did have to run and buy an umbrella for a 5-minute walk from the station), we were, however, met with friendly faces and gorgeous interiors. Fronting minimalistic decor, with modern low-hanging lights, fancy bottles of wine on display and a few bold pieces of artwork, this place felt classy. It also had a nice mix of seating, as we had a romantic window table, while there were also areas for large groups.

You can tell this eatery is inspired by classic brasseries across the world.

Is there a better way to start the evening than with some bubbly? Nope. So, we enjoyed a couple of crisp glasses of Ruggeri prosecco (£8.25) that had refreshing notes of pear, all while snacking on some gordal olives (£4) and roasted almonds (£5), before having a peek at the starters.

With plenty of tasty grub to choose from, we asked our lovely waiter for advice, and he kindly ran us through the menu. Based on his super-helpful recommendations, I opted for the shellfish cocktail (£18) a delicate concoction of lobster, crab and brown shrimp. This was accompanied by an avocado puree and garnished beautifully with a king prawn. My date enjoyed the sweet onion tarte tatin (£14) which was a lot bigger than expected and had a lovely balance of aged balsamic, goat's cheese and rocket. These were both paired with a couple of glasses of Ultimate Province (£13), a bold rosé from St Tropez boasting layers of raspberry. Yum.

A seafood lovers' dream.

As for mains, I was eager to try the moules marinière (£16), which did not disappoint. Not only was there a generous portion of mussles, but the muscadet, parsley and garlic sauce was also absolutely delicious. So much so, that I mopped it up with a side of Koffman French fries (£5). My carnivorous other half got the chargrilled bavette (£19), a cut he had never tried before (although, gladly did), complemented by a rich and tangy blue cheese sauce. It was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth - faultless. Our waiter also paired this delightful steak with a large glass of Cahors 'Cuvee Prestige' (£12.10), a full-bodied Malbec, that went down a treat.

Last up? Desserts. While looking through the options, we quaffed a couple of punchy, yet smooth espresso martinis (roughly £10.50). Before tucking into an oozy chocolate fondant (£9), with a deliciously gooey centre and a scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Followed by an Eton mess (£9), made up of fresh strawberries, crunchy meringue and helpings of whipped cream. Both of these sweet treats hit the spot and were presented nicely.
