Boasting an impressive 300 covers in 11,000 square feet across two floors, Bertie's also holds the title as Scotland's biggest chip shop. With quirky Frank Boyle illustrations across the walls and a traditional yet contemporary ‘beach chic’ style, the restaurant has a cool yet humble feel to it.

The menu itself also carries the same sentiment, with modern inventions on traditional dishes. Its extensive menu features battered haddock and cod served with twice-cooked chips and tartare sauce, battered pork sausage, haggis and white pudding, as well as veggie haggis and Whitby scampi. Also on offer are handmade pies, Bertie's Sea Dog, a battered cod dog served in a toasted brioche with homemade slaw, and Bertie’s Seafood Chowder, along with a decent selection of veggie and vegan options, delicious desserts and light bites under £10.

With regard to drinks, there is a choice of soft drinks and alcoholic refreshers, with quirky cocktails at the bar, designed to mix Scottish ingredients “with the zest of the seaside”. Particular favourites include the Irn Bru spritz, which is Irn-Bru with prosecco, apérol and angostura and a Buckfast bramble, a combination of gin and Buckfast.
