La Mariposa is a speakeasy wine bar and restaurant in Selina Birmingham. Housed within a former Victorian factory in the Jewellery Quarter, the hotel is designed by a team of resident artists, and acts as a communal space for socialising, creativity and wellness.
The restaurant itself is a vibrant space for eating and drinking within the retreat. With dishes specialising in Latin-American flavours (inspired by the chain’s beginnings in Panama) it serves everything from bottomless brunch to stonebaked pizzas.
To add a little context, Selina is a hotel group with around 50 sites scattered across the globe. Referring to itself as being ‘experience-led’, the space boasts the restaurant, an artisan coffee shop and a cocktail bar, along with a cinema room and garden. There is also a dedicated wellness area and a lobby featuring local artwork where workshops and co-working take place. Topping it off is a communal kitchen, library and activity centre that boasts panoramic views from its balcony.
