New Birmingham Restaurants Opening In 2026
1. Baresca Tapas
- Opening date: July 2026
- Location: Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield
- Why we recommend: these guys are already cooking up a storm in Nottingham, and we can't wait to see what they'll bring to this spacious new destination
Currently operating in Nottingham, Baresca Tapas are now setting their sights on Sutton Coldfield. The new venue will have 190 seats, including 40 on the outdoor terrace, taking over the old 4,700 sq ft Pierre Bistro unit.
Their menu focuses on authentic Spanish fare, from tapas to their signature rotisserie chicken that's locally sourced, brined and marinated for 24 hours. On the drinks front, expect cocktails, sangria, vermouth and plenty of Spanish wines.

2. Flat Iron
- Opening date: late 2026

- Why we recommend: promising a spacious venue and high quality meats, Flat Iron is destined to be popular, Plus, you don't find steak much more affordable than this
Hugely successful steak restaurant Flat Iron are opening in Birmingham this year, bringing their affordable cuts to Temple Street. It will be a two-storey restaurant seating 110 people, housed within a historic building.
Their short but sweet menu is led by their signature £15 flat iron steak, with sides like crispy bone marrow garlic mash or creamed spinach. They also offer ribeye, wagyu steak of the day and cheeseburgers, alongside £9 cocktails and a great wine list.

3. Sticks'n'Sushi
- Opening date: late 2026
- Location: Paradise, Chamberlain Square
- Why we recommend: these guys offer a little something for everyone, whether you're an expert in Japanese cuisine or looking to try something new, and we love their existing sites up and down the UK
The beloved Danish-Japanese restaurant is coming to a new city. Sticks'n'Sushi is opening on the Paradise Estate later in 2026, which is already home to some iconic spots like Dishoom, La Bellezza and Rosa's Thai. It will feature their signature Scandinavian interiors, as well as a vast Japanese menu.
Expect everything from nigiri to maki rolls and chicken skewers, with plenty of plant-based options available. They also serve a number of sharing menus that are great for trying a bit of everything, and their cocktails are well worth trying too.

4. KIBOU
- Opening date: autumn 2026
- Location: 61-63 Temple Row, B2 5LS
- Why we recommend: we love their existing venues up and down the country, so we're very excited to see what they're bringing to Birmingham - from unique, colourful design to delicious sushi platters
With sites everywhere from London to Bristol and Oxford, KIBOU is fast becoming one of the UK's most popular Japanese restaurants. They're opening a location on Birmingham's Temple Row this autumn, on the site that's currently home to Riva Blu. It will be open seven days a week, serving up to 200 people across their bar, lounge, main restaurant and open sushi kitchen - with a private dining room to boot.
The menu features Japanese sharing plates, both classic and contemporary. Think A5 wagyu beef, sashimi, chicken karaage, spiced pork gyoza and crisp tempura, to name just a few options. As for the interior, expect bold, colourful, Japanese-inspired interiors and original hand-painted artwork by Gloucestershire-based artist Martyna Sabadasz.

5. SushiDog
- Opening date: January 2026
- Location: Birmingham Bullring
- Why we recommend: this is a top choice for dining on the go, providing fresh, healthy lunches to suit all tastes
A popular sushi chain known for its customisable grab-and-go bites, SushiDog is opening its first Birmingham outpost in the Bullring in 2026. This kiosk-style venue will seat up to 25 people at a time, with both a dine-in section and a handy takeaway counter for those looking for lunch on the go.
They're known for their fresh, nutritious ingredients, and you can create your ultimate choice of meal. From hand-held burrito-style sushi rolls to vibrant sushi bowls and colourful salads, everything is made fresh to order.

6. Alfred Works
- Opening date: February 2026
- Location: Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Deritend, B9 4AA
- Why we recommend: with a choice of 15 different vendors, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to eating here
Making up part of the iconic Custard Factory, Alfred Works is a brand new food hall, set to feature 15 different kitchens. This will be complete with an outdoor courtyard, a social gaming space and dedicated family-friendly areas, with a large events space across the river too.
This is created by the Blend Family, and they'll be opening a second Blend Culinary Foundation Kitchen - dedicated to tackling food poverty in the local area. So far, names like House of Habesha, Fuego 1987 and Baity have been confirmed to be opening stands within the hall.
This new food hall is coming to an iconic Birmingham building.
7. Vieni
- Opening date: 7th February 2026
- Location: 41 Pitsford Street, Goodsyard, B18 6LJ
- Why we recommend: the Sicilian street food-led menu is exciting, and we can't wait for the tiramisu soaked in Marsala
Vieni, Italian for 'come in', opens on the 7th of February at The Goodsyard in the Jewellery Quarter, marking the first hospitality destination in the landmark development. Led by founder Angelina Adamo with Charlotte Carter at the culinary helm, this intimate, 40-cover restaurant brings the vibrant spirit of Sicily’s Agrigento to the Midlands’ most creative quarter.
With a focus on authentic flavours and heartfelt hospitality, Vieni promises evenings that feel like lingering meals in a coastal Italian town - plates built around sun-kissed produce, familial warmth and just the right amount of Mediterranean flair.

8. Blacklock
- Opening date: 20th April 2026
- Location: Colmore Business District
- Why we recommend: this is a premium steakhouse in a stunning building, and having tried their existing venues we can safely say that Birmingham is in for a treat
Renowned chophouse Blacklock has earned quite a name for itself across its sites in London and Manchester, and they're bringing their top-quality dishes to Birmingham in 2025. The restaurant is taking over the ground floor of a beautiful Victorian building, St Philip's House, formerly the home of the Cathedral’s Vicar. They'll be serving all the cuts you know and love, from 55 day-aged, charcoal-grilled steaks to tender lamb chops, as well as their fantastic Sunday roasts.
Founded by former lawyer Gordon Ker in 2015, these steak
specialists have earned themselves a B Corp certification for
sustainability. They pride themselves on serving the very best
meats in the country, and they make use of the whole animal to
avoid waste. They'll also be collaborating with new suppliers in
the Midlands at their Birmingham venue, promising new additions to
the food and drink menus.
This new chophouse is a must-try for steak lovers.
9. Rudy's Pizza Napoletana
- Opening date: March 2026
- Location: 10 Birmingham Road, Sutton Coldfield
- Why we recommend: we love the pizza here, and alongside the menu, you can expect Italian spritzes, crisp lagers and classic cocktails, bringing a slice of Naples to Sutton Coldfield just in time for spring
Pizza fans have something new to get excited about as Rudy's Pizza Napoletana opens its latest outpost in Sutton Coldfield this March. Known for its cult-followed Neapolitan-style pizzas, the much-loved pizzeria will bring its signature slow-fermented dough and traditional recipes, from classic margherita to fiery calabrese, to a spacious two-floor, 3,360-square-foot venue with around 100 indoor covers and 32 outdoor seats.
To celebrate the launch, the team is giving away 3,000 free pizzas to fans who sign up online or via the QR codes on the restaurant’s hoardings. Founded in Manchester in 2015, Rudy’s has grown to 37 locations nationwide and is the world’s largest group accredited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, ensuring every pizza is made to strict Neapolitan standards using traditional techniques and Italian ingredients.
Rudy's is coming to Sutton Coldfield.
10. Else
- Opening date: July 2026
- Location: 1259 Pershore Road, Stirchley, B30 2YT
- Why we recommend: this is an exciting addition to an area that includes a handful of Michelin Guide-rated restaurants, and we can't wait to see how it does
Else is a new izakaya opening where Joshuaa Shaun's hair salon in Stirchley used to be in July. It'll serve Japanese small plates alongside cocktails in informal surroundings, to a soundtrack of vinyl records.
Independent Stircley Limited is the company behind the new spot, which also runs Stir and Cheddar, a wine and cheese bar on the same road.

11. SAEL
- Opening date: August 2026
- Location: The Goodsyard, Birmingham
- Why we recommend: for local foodies who spent the last year chasing Mills’ legendary South Birmingham pop-ups, booking a stool here is going to be the ultimate culinary flex
Acclaimed Chef Patron Jonny Mills is finally dropping anchors in a permanent space with Sael, a hyper-intimate chef's table popping up at The Goodsyard in the Jewellery Quarter. Taking its name from the Old English word for a harvest gathering, this tiny restaurant features just eight seats arranged around an open kitchen counter.
With a single sitting per service, it’s all about good old-fashioned connection, chatting, and incredible cooking. The draw here is an ever-evolving, hyper-seasonal tasting menu that lets nature take the wheel. Up-and-coming front-of-house legend Asher Beardsmore (formerly of Opheem and Tropea) is handling the drinks, shaking up an inventive, low-waste beverage list that matches the kitchen’s eco-conscious mindset.

New Birmingham Restaurants Already Opened In 2025
1. Pizza Pilgrims
- Opening date: November 2025
- Location: Grand Central Shopping Centre, New Street, Station, B2 4BF
- Why we recommend: these pizzas have won multiple awards, and are some of the most affordable around without compromising on exciting flavours
A popular pizzeria across London and a handful of other UK cities, Pizza Pilgrims is set to open its first Birmingham site this November. The restaurant group has recently been acquired by German pizza and pasta chain L’Osteria, who are making big plans for further expansion over the next few years.
They're known for their authentic Neapolitan pizzas with both classic and quirky toppings, from burrata and pesto to eight cheeses or even carbonara. These go well with a selection of affordable Italian cocktails, and their Nutella pizza ring makes for a perfect finish to your meal.

2. Society
- Opening date: 5th September 2025
- Location: One Colmore Square, B4 6AA
- Why we recommend: the Manchester venue is hugely popular, so this one is bound to be too, and we love the variety of food on offer
Looking for new restaurants near Birmingham's Colmore Row? Well Society is bringing us a whole lot of them when it opens in May. This independent, food hall-style space spans a whopping 9,000 square feet, with room for up to 350 people across the open-plan dining area and outdoor terrace.
There'll be five different kitchens selling different cuisines, all from local businesses, alongside a craft beer bar, cocktail bar and coffee shop. Plus, you can expect artwork from small artists as decoration, and a lineup of great DJs from Thursday to Saturday each week.
The Manchester version gives us an idea of what Society Birmingham might look like.
3. Trillium
- Opening date: December 2025
- Location: Colmore Business District
- Why we recommend: chef Glynn Purnell and wine expert Phil Innes make an exciting team, and we can't wait to see what they're going to create together
A joint venture by acclaimed chef Glynn Purnell and wine expert Phil Innes, Trillium is coming to Colmore Business District this September. This is all about community, character and refined dining in a relaxed setting. They're promising a regularly changing, seasonal menu, designed to be shared among friends.
Innes will be carefully curating a wine list to pair with your meal, which will be made up of international flavours. As for the venue itself, expect nature-themed decor with a romantic colour scheme - reds, purples and petal pink.
This new restaurant combines global dishes with quality wines.
4. Cylla
- Opening date: July 2025
- Location: 43 Newhall Street, B3 3QR
- Why we recommend: this high-end Greek restaurant serves carefully curated cocktails - a perfect mix between an elegant and welcoming
Cylla, a unique fine dining restaurant which replaced the old All Bar One on Birmingham’s Newhall Street. With a focus on contemporary Greek cuisine, Cylla offers a sophisticated twist on Mediterranean flavours, blending the elegance of fine dining with the warmth and hospitality Greece is known for.
Located in Bruntwood SciTech's Cornwall Buildings in the Colmore Business District, the restaurant is headed by Adonis Maniadakis, whose Greek heritage has deeply influenced the vision for Cylla. The menu flaunts a harmonious balance of sea and land, while the expertly crafted Mediterranean-inspired cocktails combine traditional Greek spirits with fresh, local ingredients. Cylla’s design subtly nods to Greek architecture, creating a refined yet welcoming atmosphere, perfect for intimate dinners and special occasions.
Set to open in mid-March, Cylla will offer lunch and dinner seven days a week.
5. Dave's Hot Chicken
- Opening date: July 2025
- Location: 56 New Street, B2 4DU
- Why we recommend: you won't find better chicken elsewhere, and their celebrity endorsements speak for themselves
Backed by celebrities like Drake, Usher and Samuel L Jackson, Dave's Hot Chicken has taken the country by storm. The business began in California, founded by three friends in 2017, and has one existing UK site in London.
They have taken over the former site of Ask Italian on New Street, and are promising the same affordable prices and great quality food that Londoners have celebrated them for. Expect some seriously spicy bites - some of them even require you to sign a waiver before ordering them due to the levels of heat.
Expect some serious spice at Dave's Hot Chicken.
6. Maneki Ramen
- Opening date: May 2025
- Location: 21 Ludgate Hill, B3 1DW
- Why we recommend: this is an award-winning Japanese restaurant that gives us real Tokyo vibes, both in its menu and interiors
Maneki Ramen is a popular destination in Worcester that won Japanese Restaurant of the Year in 2023. They opened their Birmingham venue in the Jewellery Quarter at the beginning of May, inspired by Tokyo.
Expect the same sleek, minimalist wooden interiors of their original venue, with a mouthwatering menu to match. We're talking tofu yaki soba, kimchi chicken, tonkotsu pork ramen and so much more.
Lovers of Japanese cuisine will be exited about this new restaurant in Birmingham.
7. Regina's
- Opening date: March 2025
- Location: 55 Cornwall Street, B3 2DH
- Why we recommend: this striking Mediterranean restaurant serves handmade plates that are truly delicious, and we can't get enough of the beautiful decor
Having opened at the end of March, Regina's is a stunning new Mediterranean restaurant on the former site of Purnell’s Bistro and Ginger’s Bar. It's brought to you by the team behind Noel’s Bar & Restaurant, so it's clear that they know what they're doing when it comes to delectable Mediterranean cuisine.
They've renovated the space to feature elegant skylights on a hand-painted ceiling, plush velvet furniture and marble-topped tables, as well as a bespoke metal rose sculpture, designed by an artist who has previously worked with Dior. They're promising fresh ingredients and handmade pasta, among many other premium dishes.
This promises to be one of the best new restaurants in Birmingham city centre.
8. Willow
- Opening date: February 2025
- Location: Mulberry Walk, 10 Mere Green Road, Sutton Coldfield, B75 5BP
- Why we recommend: this is a pretty Mediterranean restaurant promising all-day dining - our favourite dish is the Turkish eggs
After the success of their two existing locations in Trentham and Telford, Willow have set up shop in Mere Green for their third project. The venue has been empty since the closure of Prezzo in 2023, and it's been redesigned to reflect the aesthetic of the Mediterranean, in line with their menu.
You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner here, in a cosy room filled with natural light. Whether you're in the mood for Turkish eggs on toasted sourdough, garlic and herb-glazed sea bass or penne pasta arrabbiata, there's guaranteed to be something for everyone.
Enjoy all-day dining at this Mediterranean spot.
9. Kynd
- Opening date: February 2025
- Location: Hampton Manor, Shadowbrook Lane, Hampton-in-Arden, Solihull B92 0EN
- Why we recommend: this gorgeous country restaurant is run by a Michelin-starred chef, and we love their focus on top-quality ingredients
Slightly outside of the city, but well worth a visit, Hampton Manor's on-site restaurant is changing up this year. Kynd opened on 27th February 2025, following the news that their previous residents Smoke are leaving the beautiful venue. MasterChef: The Professionals winner Stu Deeley ran the kitchen here, having earned the restaurant three AA rosettes and a recommendation in the Michelin Guide over the last few years, and new eatery Kynd is already pretty special too.
The greenhouse-style space is filled with pretty plants and boasts a huge outdoor dining area, making it particularly perfect for the summer months. It's headed by Michelin-starred chef David Taylor, with a focus on top quality produce in dishes that are rooted in comfort, heritage and flavour.

10. Indian Cafe Racer
- Opening date: February 2025
- Location: 72 Bristol Street, B5 7AH
- Why we recommend: this is the second location for an already popular Indian restaurant, which has received a lot of praise from critics since it opened
Indian Cafe Racer, the celebrated Indian restaurant that’s been wowing critics and locals alike since its debut in 2022, has expanded with a brand-new location just a few doors down from its current home at the Duke of Wellington Pub on Bristol Street. Now, the team is bringing their vibrant culinary experience to a larger space in the former Quarter Horse Coffee shop.
The design pays homage to the Duke of Wellington with Victorian pub touches like wood panelling, tiling, and a feature bar serving up delicious cocktails and wine. The familiar elements that made the original Indian Cafe Racer so special have remained - think an open kitchen, rich bottle green hues, and a Royal Enfield motorbike at the heart of the dining experience. The menu will continue to highlight crowd-pleasers like spice lamb chops, red mullet moilee, and the famous broccoli GT 65, alongside exciting new Indo-Chinese dishes and rotating specials.
This new branch promises to be quieter and more spacious (but totally still delicious).
