A strange, dystopian and sometimes dark satire on relationships, ‘The Lobster’ features Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman in a depiction of a world where singles must check into a country hotel to find a partner within 45 days, or instead are destined to be turned into an animal of their choice and released into the forest (and we can guess that doesn’t end well). From awkward dance nights to group activities, the ‘guests’ are caught between the bizarre rituals of the corporate hotel and the outside ‘rebel’ territory of those who have escaped pursuit.
The film, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, won the Cannes Jury Prize in 2015 .As a perfect alternative Valentine’s film night, presented in partnership with Twickenham Cinema Club, come along for drinks, eats and a relaxed cinematic vibe.
