Black Truffle Pasta and Lychee Martinis: We Explored Sheffield’s Beautiful Botanical Restaurant

DesignMyNight Drops By | DesignMyNight

Nestled in the heart of Leeds, Knutsford, Birmingham, Bristol and, of course, Sheffield, The Lost & Found is a restaurant bar inspired by the splendour of nature. While perhaps best known for their creative cocktails, charming botanical décor and bottomless brunches, the venue's main menu was in my sights for a visit.

The Lost And Found Sheffield Review | DesignMyNight

Homely and stunning in equal measure; a great start for our Lost and Found Sheffield review on Ecclesall Road.

From dark wood framing the bar and vintage botanical art prints to chandeliers, Chesterfield armchairs, pretty plants and green seating, there was plenty to love on first impressions. Starting our journey through the carefully crafted Lost and Found Sheffield menu at the table, we began with some of their signature cocktails. First, the pineapple and ginger mojito (£9.50). Made using Sailor Jerry rum, lime, pineapple syrup, mint, and ginger beer, it delivered a lovely balance of flavours. The fresh ginger provided a pleasant kick, while the sweetness of the fruit paired perfectly with the bitter spirit and the addition of mint made it a great summer sip too. Alongside, we drank the lychee martini (£9.50). This floral and fresh concoction blended Bombay Sapphire gin, lychee liqueur, apple and lemon. Light, drinkable and featuring a delicate foam top, it added a touch of elegance to date night.

Turning our attention to the starters, we opted for the crispy halloumi (£8.25); a delightful dish accompanied by cucumber, spring onion, and chilli salad for continuous freshness. The cheese was soft and complemented by a sweet, tangy chilli jam. A light batter added a crispy texture, all without overwhelming the flavours or making it feel too heavy. Craving a twist on a classic, we chose bruschetta (£9.50) next. Featuring plant-based Superstraccia, semi-dried tomatoes, basil pesto, tomato sherry dressing, and toasted sourdough, it was definitely an abstract take. The rich creaminess of the cheese paired with vibrant notes of the tomatoes and the aromatic herbs beautifully.

The Lost And Found Cocktails | DesignMyNight

The list of Lost and Found cocktails hits the mark.

As vegetarians in a restaurant known for its steak, we had to sample the roasted cauliflower steak (£16). Accompanied by caramelised cauli purée, green beans, roasted onion, capers, and lemon, this dish demonstrated the culinary artistry of The Lost and Found. The veg, roasted to perfection, offered a great balance of tenderness and a subtly smoky taste. Continuing to feel indulgent, we couldn't resist the allure of the black truffle rigatoni (£18). Bathed in a creamy mascarpone cheese and white wine, this dish was the epitome of comfort food. Paris brown mushrooms added earthy undertones, which matched the rich truffle and added some bite to the velvety sauce.

Ending as we began, some final cocktails finished off the meal. The Strawberry Bon Bon (£9.75), a delightful blend of Stoli Vanil Vodka, Licor 43, strawberry, lemon and soda with a confectionary garnish, proved to be a easily drinkable and fruity choice. The Kokotini (9.50) - made of Koko Kanu Coconut Rum, Chambord black raspberry liqueur, and pineapple - provided a strong kick to end the evening on a high note. The cocktails were, without a doubt, the highlight of our time here.
