SCOTT BENNETT
For many years Scott was a beloved secret of the circuit. Adored by his peers (and pretty much every crowd he played to) his absence from TV and radio became a source of bafflement to comics up and down the land. He follows in a long line of canny everymen who mine the minutiae of life to build mighty towers of comedy. First there was Sean Lock and Micky Flanagan and now there's Scott.
His debut hour stand up show About a Roy was nominated for the highly acclaimed Amused Moose Comedy Award and was selected as one of the top ten shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015. He has since appeared on Live at the Apollo, BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican. During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live and has had over 150,000 views.
At the end of 2020, in the Comics Comic awards Scott was voted “Best Act” a prestigious award decided by comedians and promoters in the industry. Previous winners include, Mick Ferry, Zoe Lyons and Ian Stone. In 2017 and 18 Scott supported his comedy hero, Rob Brydon on his National UK tour dates for his latest show I am Standing Up and was selected to do a support slots for Jason Manford and John Bishop. He also worked alongside Michael McIntyre as part of his work in progress shows at the Duchess Theatre in London with Keri Godliman, Russell Kane and Ed Gamble.
We wager it'll only be a few years before Scott is the household name he deserves to be.
"Great material, great delivery, a very funny man." Rob Brydon
"Without question live comedy's best kept secret." Evening Standard
"There must be plenty of multiverses where Scott Bennett is already the biggest name in comedy on these little islands. Our future just needs to catch up with them." British Comedy Guide
KATE LUCAS
Award winning musical comedian Kate Lucas is known for her razor sharp and deliciously dark songs. She combines catchy melodies with original lyrics to showcase her playfully bitter musings on life. Audiences have come to expect examples of what not to say and how not to behave from this gloriously talented young comic. She took home the title for the prestigious Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year and her performances have been met with huge critical acclaim ever since. She has built a seriously impressive reputation on the circuit, storming it every weekend to packed out crowds at the country’s most famous comedy venues including The Comedy Store, Manford’s, The Stand, The Glee Clubs, Banana Cabaret and Up the Creek. Her debut show Whatever Happened to Kate Lucas? was met with critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a hit Soho Theatre run to follow.
“A true musical genius.” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“Belly laughs and wide-eyed did-she-really-say-that horror.” Fest
ERIC RUSHTON
Since his comedy debut in 2014, Eric Rushton has been mixing with the best newcomers on the comedy scene, and impressing audiences with his intelligent, playful material and likeable, self-deprecating stage persona. In January 2020 he won the prestigious 'Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year' award - an award that was previously won by the likes of Romesh Ranganathan, Jason Manford and Jonny Vegas on their way to stardom.
"Intriguing and amusing." Chortle
AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:
BEN VAN DER VELDE
One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.
"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post
