Borough Market is the home of an all-new vegan restaurant from the team behind Mildreds, which opened its doors over three decades ago. The first new site from the trailblazers, Mallow will be a 100% plant-based restaurant serving sustainable food inspired by global flavours.
Found directly opposite Southwark Cathedral, the eatery has been referred to as an extension of the market as it’ll aim to source ingredients from local traders in the area, as well as reducing environmental impact by teaming up with small, sustainable businesses wherever possible.
Specific dishes are yet to be completely revealed, but the founders have announced Mildreds’ head of food development Sarah Wasserman will be overseeing the menu. The one dish they have already teased? A mouthwatering Urfa celeriac skewer served with skordalia and Jerusalem artichoke chips. Mallow also is expected to open up early in the mornings to provide delicious breakfasts for busy commuters, while evenings call for small plates and larger offerings alongside burgers and desserts. And if you’re thirsty, expect vegan wines, beers and cocktails to pair with your meals.
