The 12 Pubs of Christmas in London

The Twelve Pubs of Christmas pub crawl has become something of a tradition in the past few years, and as thousands of revellers plot their routes via Three Crowns, Duke's Heads & Ship Inns all over the country, Christmas 2013 shows no sign of bucking the trend! The rules are simple, revellers must drink one alcoholic drink in the half-hour at each stop-off, and it's all a bit of harmless festive fun until someone breaks one of these sacred laws, when all hell breaks loose. Refusal to comply with the Christmas Jumper and Festive Headgear dress code will be punished with the utmost severity (one shot), and failing to swap shoes with a stranger in the 'swap shoes with a stranger pub' or forgetting to speak in a hilarious accent in the 'fake accent pub' will be met with similar retribution.

In a city as vast as this one there's obviously no shortage of pubs to visit on your crawl, but we've put together a list of five excellent hangouts which are tailor made for events like this!

1. The Slaughtered Lamb

With an assortment of both locally sourced and internationally renowned beers to sample and a vibrant atmosphere to match, there's every reason to make this trendy hangout a stop-off for any Clerkenwell-based pub crawls this festive season.

2. The Jugged Hare

Another pub brimming with charisma is The Jugged Hare in Chiswell Street. Make this venue a 'wine pub' and take advantage of the quality choice available whilst you revel in the speakeasy-styled atmosphere.

 3. The Old Queens Head

Good music meets affordable drinks in this welcoming London pub. The vibrant atmosphere generated in this Angel boozer is impressive and the inviting sofas provide a comfortable place to grab some respite from the pub crawl. Careful though, they're so comfy that once you've sat down you might find getting back up again impossible.

4. Paradise By Way of Kensal Green

Winner of DesignMyNight's 'Best Pub of 2012' award, Paradise is another cracking pub worth considering for your crawl. Awash with vintage charm and famed for its buzzing karaoke sessions, swing by to take advantage of the huge choice of tipples.

5. Sun & Thirteen Cantons

A hugely popular pub in Soho that attracts an eclectic mix of people from all over the city. The Sun & Thirteen Canton's vibrant atmosphere make it an ideal place to stop by for anyone based more centrally.
