With London once again plunged into lockdown, we’re having to get creative with our weekend plans. And while sun-soaked picnics and hazy BBQs may be off the cards, there is still plenty of alfresco fun to be had (just as long as you’re wearing your biggest coat). So, as the festive season approaches, we’ve rounded up all the London bars and pubs offering mulled wine to takeaway, perfect for warming up your hands during a crisp winter walk.

The Woodman: This charming pub is the perfect place to grab a takeaway mulled wine near Highgate Wood. Sip and stroll before heading back to make the most of their click and collect Sunday roast service, complete with cups of rich gravy.

Red Lion and Sun: Open from 4pm ‘til 9pm throughout December, including Christmas Day, The Red Lion and Sun have created their very own takeaway shack in light of the new restrictions. Head over to grab mulled wine, freshly-poured pints and even frozen margaritas, just remember your woolly gloves.

Transforming into a grocery and bottle shop for lockdown, the staff here are also selling seasonal drinks to go, just in time for the festive season.

The Regent Balham: Looking for takeaway mulled wine near you in Balham? Head to The Regent, where the team are dishing out roast dinners, raclette, draught beer and festive sips for you to enjoy while on the go.

The Clapham North: While The Clapham North’s raclette pop-up has had to temporarily shut up shop, the cosy pub is still offering mulled wine to takeaway near Clapham Common. Perfect for a crisp winter stroll, the menu also includes hot rolls, loaded fries and freshly-poured pints. 

Diogenes The Dog: While the team at Diogenes The Dog have closed their doors in light of Tier 3, they are now offering a takeaway serving on their most popular tipples. Our recommendation? The mulled wine which comes infused with their house made spiced brand mix and is perfectly paired with a freshly baked mince pie.

The Joiners Arms: Open for takeaway on Friday and Saturday throughout the Tier 3 restrictions, The Joiners Arms is the Camberwell spot known for its gourmet Sunday roasts and extensive craft beer offering. But now? You can stop by for mulled wine and boozy hot chocolates (topped with toasted marshmallows) to go.

East London

The Great Exhibition: When it comes to take away mulled wine in East Dulwich, The Great Exhibition is a guaranteed winner. Perk up your next winter walk with a cup of something warm which you can spike with a shot of brandy, Cointreau or even sloe gin.

The Sun Tavern: With London’s Tier 3 announcement, The Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green have once again re-opened their hatch, selling festive mugs of mulled wine, along with ginger punch and boozy hot chocolate to takeaway every day between 2pm and 8pm.

Clissold Park Tavern: The perfect pitstop for a socially-distanced winter walk, Clissold Park Tavern is perched on the edge of one of East London’s most charming green spaces. Pop by to warm yourself up with a takeaway mulled wine or steaming hot bramble.

Fugitive Motel: While better known for its mega pizza offering and quirky West Coast interiors, Fugitive Motel is now selling takeaway mulled wine in Bethnal Green, with tonnes of craft beer bundles on offer too.

Renegade Urban Winery: Open for takeaway between Wednesday and Sunday every week, Renegade Urban Winery are serving bottles of craft beer and moreish mugs of their house blend mulled wine to East Londoners.

The Dove: A traditional pub located in the heart of Broadway Market, The Dove has opened up a handy hatch service, with takeaway mulled wine and hearty meals available between 12pm and 8pm every day throughout December (apart from Boxing day).

West London

Thatched House: This Hammersmith favourite is located just a stone’s throw from Ravenscourt Park and is offering a full menu of takeaway delights. From hearty stews to indulgent desserts and warming winter tipples, it’s the perfect place to kick off a weekend walk.

Dirty Martini Covent Garden Pop Up: If you’re looking for takeaway mulled wine in Covent Garden, then Dirty Martini are answering your prayers. Their Christmas pop-up bar is serving Johnnie Walker ginger hot toddies, spiced cranberry punch, Baileys hot chocolate, and of course, classic mulled wine.

Fallow: Perfect for those weary Regent Street shoppers, Fallow will be serving up glasses of takeaway Tempranillo mulled wine as well as Chartreuse hot chocolate between 12pm and 10pm every day. And while you're there? You can stock up on last minute gifts, from bottled negroni cocktails to fine wines.

The Connaught Hotel: The Connaught is one of London's most magical spots come Christmas time. And while you may not be able to dine in its bauble festooned dining room, you can still pop by to grab a luxury hot chocolate or spiced mulled wine from their Alpine inspired hütte.
