Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd's Bush Review: Boutique Rooms With An Intriguing Broadcasting Past

Hello weary traveller. Needing somewhere to stay in London that a) is well connected, with fast links to the capital's top sights, b) promises a downright stunning aesthetic, and c) has a pretty interesting heritage? Stop the search, as Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd's Bush ticks all the boxes, plus it’s new (having opened in March 2026).

This beautiful hub is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). But don’t let that fool you in thinking this is another generic chain. The building takes over what was Kensington House, a BBC recording and broadcasting studio that has welcomed world-famous stars like David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. I loved the historical references everywhere, from vintage TV artwork and vinyl players to collaborations with West London distilleries and producers.

Boasting 231 spacious bedrooms including four suites and six garden rooms, alongside a K West Spa that launches later on this year, I dropped by to find out why it’s ideal for a London staycation.

Room Quality & Comfort

Room⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My check-in experience with Victor was seamless and I particularly liked the WhatsApp follow-up message to make sure everything was as expected. To sum up my king-size premium room? Laidback luxury, from the huge, cloud-like bed with a grand sunrise-shaped headboard to the mosaic surfaces and marbled globed lighting. The whole area was earthy, neutral toned (jade, pebble, peach and oak) but the pops of colour from the retro pink phone and gold Roberts radio gave things a playful edge. Big shout out to the Scandi furniture as well, it was so comfy.

Ok, so the view of the buildings outside wasn't extraordinary, but who needs that when the interiors themselves were so visually appealing? The shower room of dreams was also deceivingly spacious, benefitting from sleek teal tiles and Urban Apothecary toiletries.

Dining Highlights

Food⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Spicy ‘nduja Scotch egg (£7) – this dish was adored by my partner, taking the humble snack and making it a starter. Prepare for a crisp outer layer, revealing an oozy, bright yellow yolk, all mopped up with a silky and tangy mustard mayo.
  • Margherita pizza (£13) – I could see this being made (in the impressive wood-fired oven) directly from our seat, which was fun. Flock's Italian fave delivered on all fronts, from the perfectly charred thin base and tasty herbs to the buffalo mozzarella that gave a desirable cheese pull.
  • Flock smash burger (£20) – my date devoured this like a wild animal. We’re talking a chunky beef patty and dripping British cheddar cheese, while the pickled cucumber cut through the richness. As for the chips? They were seasoned well, including a hint of basil which was enjoyable.
  • Caramelised banana cheesecake (£8.50) – our pud had a nice crust on top, hiding a wonderful wobbly, very fruity middle. It was really delicious.

Drink: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Functional Mule (£12) – this was an excellent alcohol-free tipple, blending ginger beer for that unmistakable spicy hit, lime and 0% botanical spirit.
  • Silver Screen (£15) – I really liked this zesty nod to the hotel’s past, but I’d recommend dialling up the lime, sherry or jasmine syrup up a tad, as it was very tequila and soda heavy.

Breakfast⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd's Bush aren’t messing when it comes to the most important meal of the day. Here, you can select one hot dish from the menu, then take your pick from the generous buffet. Alongside the usual favourites like pastries, guests can also choose smoothies, dried fruit, salmon, seeds and loads more. The lot. If you need your caffeine fix, coffees and teas are included, like a creamy latte. Finally, I challenge you not to be utterly charmed by the super cute sheep vases, paying homage to the restaurant’s name.

  • Full English breakfastyeah, with all the trimmings, including thick Cumberland sausage, crispy bacon, hash brown, tomato, baked beans and herby grilled mushroom. Everything was cooked fresh to order, including eggs done your way.
  • Avocado on toast – I went full-on millennial with this plate, flaunting roasted sweet tomato and velvety avo. But the best bit? Sprigs of tenderstem broccoli that had a great lick of fire.

Flock's stunning bar area, fronting mosaic floors and dark wood stools, next to a picture of avocado toast and a giant English breakfast.

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This overnight stay satisfied on so, so many levels. Not only did I love the clever architecture and attractive design but the cultural significance cannot be denied. To my delight, the owners hadn't erased its heritage, instead incorporating thoughtful details from the menu to its decor. I have to point out the incredible service from everyone too ...you’ll leave feeling very rested indeed
