What does it take to run a successful bar and restaurant empire in this day and age? Best to ask Darwin & Wallace, the group behind cute spots such as No.197 Chiswick Fire Station and No.11 Pimlico Road as they open their seventh venue, this time in Ealing. No.17 Dickens Yard is sticking to the same formula seen in other outposts, that being an Instagrammable take on interiors, mixing soft pastels with edgy urban touches such as a black bar and unique artwork.

Food is an all-day affair, with a large brunch menu, evening a la carte and a 'virtuous' Sunday roast, with a choice between chicken and beef. The cocktail menu is equally as winning, with a mix of classic and quirky variations, as the bar creates its own sherbets and syrups, perfect for concoctions such as a pear and apple cobbler. During the summer, nab a space on the ground courtyard or the wraparound first floor terrace.
