What they say:

Surrounded by all the fine art and sophisticated dining at Somerset House, Pennethorne's proves that there's a place for beautiful simplicity everywhere. Rustic, charming and passionate about getting the good stuff in life right; Pennethorne's will provide a laid back setting for coffee, bread and snacks as well as more alcoholic treats! Inspired by it's namesake Sir James Pennethorne and his travels around Europe, the menu will be updating classic French and Italian flavours. Boasting an on site bakery, freshly baked wares will be tempting punters with flavours like Orange Brioche and Banana Bread.

What we say:

What with the likes of Tom's Deli, Fernandez & Wells and Spring concocting outrageously delicious fare, the thought of one more foodie establishment to pop up at Somerset House induces a mass tummy rumble. Already a location of artfully differing restaurants, bars and cafes, Pennethorne's adds a well placed touch of rusticity. Settling in the New Wing of Somerset House, this is sure to be a wonderfully relaxed place to either pop in or lounge about in with a tipple and a book. The main charm of this establishment is it's refusal to conform to jumped up dining standards. If it wants to serve delicious, seasonal fodder on toast for dinner; why on earth shouldn't it
