Pennethorne’s is named after Sir James Pennethorne, the 19th century English architect who designed the New Wing at Somerset House where the bar is located. The menus and interior at Pennethorne’s are inspired by Sir James’ Grand Tour of Europe in the early 19th century, which informed many of his later buildings, including his work at Somerset House. Conveniently located between The Strand and Waterloo Bridge, Pennethorne’s is also situated within a few minutes of Covent Garden and Theatreland.
