DesignMyNight Reviews Le Monde Hotel Edinburgh's Restaurant And Bar
As soon as I stepped off the high street and into Le Monde Hotel’s atmospheric restaurant-bar, I was met with a glow of soft lighting, plush velvet seating, and elegant touches that struck a balance between contemporary luxury and classic charm. It was the kind of place where you could dress up a little, take your time, and enjoy the buzz of George Street through tall windows, while feeling pleasantly tucked away from it all.
When we opened the cocktail menu, we were impressed with the creative and carefully curated list of drinks, along with a great range of non-alcoholic options. It was a menu that went beyond the classics, offering bold, well-balanced flavours and a real sense of fun.
I’m not usually a fan of super sweet cocktails, so our server recommended the Bittersweet Symphony (£11.50), which I loved the sound of (and definitely didn’t only choose because I love The Verve). It was a vibrant, citrus-forward mix of malty lemon gin, Aperol, fresh orange and a lemon-sugar shake, topped with lemonade. I'd found a new favourite combination and the perfect summer spritz.

For a non-alcoholic alternative that didn’t skimp on flavour, my fiancé ordered the Bailando Tango (£9), which was presented just as beautifully as any of the alcoholic cocktails. A tropical treat, it blended Everleaf Mountain with mango syrup, lime, pineapple juice and grenadine, proving that non-alcoholic drinks can be just as exciting.
The food menu focused on ingredient-forward small plates inspired by flavours from all over the world. The Arbroath smoked bonbons (£10) were a standout - rich and satisfying with a nutty, smoky finish. Meanwhile, the Dukkah crusted feta (£12) was served with a chilli honey drizzle that brought heat and sweetness in equal measure. The dishes were perfect for sharing and plated beautifully, ideal for snapping a photo before you tuck in.
