Our Guide To Rooftop Bars In Dublin For Outdoor Drinks

Sorry, the places listed below don't have online bookings available, but we hope you still find this list useful for your night out!

1. Anantara The Marker Dublin

  • Location: Grand Canal Quay, Docklands, Dublin, D02 CK38
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: River Liffey, the Grand Canal, and the Docklands
  • Booking tip: make a reservation in advance during the summer, as this is a popular date and hangout spot
  • Why we recommend: the view at the Anantara The Marker Dublin is unbeatable, and the cocktails are just as good. I'm a big fan of its theme this year, as it's inspired by the culinary traditions of Mexico's Yucatán region, so you can expect some really good, flavour-filled eats on the menu

For one of the finest hotels with a rooftop bar in Dublin, Anantara The Marker Dublin boasts breathtaking views of the city, making it a glorious space to sip cocktails in the sun. This lounge is fab for any occasion, from birthdays to girls' nights and after-work tipples.

This summer, it's rolling out a theme inspired by the culinary traditions of Mexico's Yucatán region. You can look forward to dishes inspired by the coastal regions and cocktails that capture the spirit of long, sun-filled evenings. Plus, the atmosphere will also reflect the region with bright colours. Enjoy panoramic views of the Docklands while you tuck into the likes of sea bass ceviche and guajillo spiced chicken, washed down with a Feugo Dorado, featuring tequila, jalapeños, orange liqueur, mango cordial, and lime juice.

2. Bad Bobs

  • Location: 35-37 Essex Street East, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 Y891
  • Price: €€
  • For views of: Temple Bar and the River LiIffey
  • Booking tip: arrive early or book ahead for weekends - this place fills up fast once the party gets going
  • Why we recommend: a five-floor venue with a vibrant feel, Bad Bobs is a one-stop shop for drinking, eating and partying. Venture to the top floor of the Victorian townhouse and you'll find a plush VIP area and a large terrace to chill out on 'til the early hours

Tucked above the lively streets of Temple Bar, Bad Bobs Rooftop is a bit of a hidden gem until the music kicks in. By day (or early evening), it's a relaxed terrace escape where you can perch with a cocktail and watch the city hum below. But come the weekend, it transforms into something altogether louder and livelier.

The rooftop itself is fully kitted out with its own bar with ample seating. To drink, you'll be able to enjoy a crowd-pleasing lineup of classics like Aperol spritzes and espresso martinis alongside punchy pornstar martinis and playful shots (expect everything from Baby Guinness to jam doughnut-inspired concoctions). Food comes in the form of hearty options like pulled beef and Guinness sliders or creamy bacon and chicken pasta to keep things grounded between rounds.

4. Layla's Rooftop Restaurant

  • Location: 117 Ranelagh, Dublin 6, D06 R3N0
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: the Dublin Mountains and the rooftops of Ranelagh village
  • Booking tip: weekends book out fast for brunch, and sunset drinks on the terrace are just as popular, so plan ahead either way
  • Why we recommend: pairing Italian-influenced food with a wide-open view, this rooftop restaurant is a great choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and it retains a neighbourhood feel while still being special enough for a date night with sprawling views over the Dublin Mountains

Sitting at the top of The Devlin, Layla's Rooftop Restaurant features glass-wrapped interiors and an open terrace, meaning you're always connected to the view, whether it's the Dublin Mountains in the distance or the steady rhythm of the streets below.

Mornings and weekends are about brunch, evenings drift into date nights and catch-ups, and the terrace stays active year-round thanks to heaters and blankets. The food nods to Italian roots with a light, seasonal touch thanks to head chef Pietro. When it comes to drinks, you'll find crisp spritzes, easy-drinking wines, and cocktails like Aperol spritzes.

3. DÍON Rooftop Restaurant and Bar

  • Location:  Dame Street, Temple Bar, D02
  • Price: €€€€
  • For views of: Dublin city centre
  • Booking tip: book ahead for sunset dining or evening drinks as this place is in demand
  • Why we recommend: this is a rooftop restaurant, lounge and bar all rolled into one, and perfect for business lunches as much as it is more atmospheric evenings, where the space takes on a softer glow and a more glamorous edge. I really like the cocktail list here, as each one feels (and tastes) sophisticated

Floating above the city, DÍON Rooftop Restaurant and Bar has a dramatic entrance that builds anticipation before you even reach the dining floor. Once inside, the space opens into a striking, design-led interior that balances contemporary geometry with warm, welcoming service. Floor-to-ceiling windows and elevated positioning ensure the city is always part of the experience, with Dublin stretched out below you in every direction.

Cuisine here takes a confident, modern approach to Irish dining. Dine on a menu shaped by international influence but grounded in local produce, and sip on a selection of cocktails such as the Hennessy VS-based Queen Of Tarts, or the Lemon & Co, made using vanilla an bergamont aperitif.

5. Fade Street Social

  • Location: 6 Fade Street, Dublin 2, D02 NF77
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: the buzzy Fade Street scene and one of Dublin's liveliest dining quarters
  • Booking tip: this spot is great for walk-ins, but grab a table ahead of peak evening hours if you're planning food and drinks
  • Why we recommend: I think that Fade Street Social is a haunt of many talents; boasting a spacious eatery, tapas gastrobar, cocktail den and a terrace. With a menu of baked sourdough pizzas (where the dough is fermented for three days and naturally leavened), it's one of the best rooftop bars in Dublin city centre

Set just off one of the city's most energetic streets, Fade Street Social Woodfired Bar & Terrace has a great al fresco feel. It's a lively space, featuring a wood-fired oven that slings out delicious sourdough pizzas with indulgent toppings.

Delve into the likes of mortadella with pistachio and truffle béchamel, spicy salamella with San Marzano tomato, or a rich duck calzone layered with confit potato and goat's cheese. Even the focaccia, served warm with rosemary and cultured butter, is worth the visit alone. Then, wash everything down with signature drinks like the Dolly Fizz with elderflower and cucumber foam, a rich tiramisu martini, or the Fade Street Sour with whiskey and red wine syrup.

6. Sophie's

  • Location: 33 Harcourt Street, Saint Kevin's, Dublin 2
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: Iveagh Gardens, Saint Kevin's, St Stephen's Green
  • Booking tip: request a window table for the best views, especially at sunset or for weekend brunch
  • Why we recommend: it's one of Dublin's most polished rooftop dining spots, pairing sweeping views with a seriously strong food and cocktail offering. I think it's a really wonderful place to enjoy a steak alongside a glass of red wine as the sun sets, as it turns the dining space a warm orange thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows

If you want panoramic views of the city while sheltering from the rain, Sophie's is a firm choice. A glamorous spot for a date night, birthday or slap-up dinner, the bar and restaurant has a gorgeous outdoor nook for when you need some fresh air, and the sun's back out.

By day, you've got everything from fresh salads to wood-fired pizzas, while dinner steps things up with hearty, flavour-packed plates like sirloin steak with parmesan polenta, or grilled seabass with caper butter. Cocktails are a big part of the draw here, and rightly so. Standouts from its signature list include the Kevin Bacon (a bourbon-based number with maple and umami depth) or the bright, citrusy Allora Vera.

7. Opium

  • Location: 26 Wexford Street, Portobello, Dublin 2, D02 HX93
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: Portobello, and St Kevin's Park
  • Booking tip: book ahead for groups as the rooftop is more intimate than you'd expect and fills quickly for events
  • Why we recommend: I love the garden setting of Opium's rooftop space and highly recommend booking it out if you're looking to throw a summer party. You'll be treated to a tempting selection of Thai and Vietnamese dishes, paired with cocktails, and chilled DJ sets

Dublin has no shortage of bars with outdoor spaces, and Opium really is one of the special ones. With a Pan-Asian theme throughout, this place will have you kicking the evening off with dinner, before heading to the rooftop for a cocktail and some Instagram snapping of the botanical decor.

Food also takes cues from across Asia, with Thai and Vietnamese-inspired dishes designed for sharing, ideal alongside a round (or two) of cocktails. You can expect playful, well-crafted concoctions like the Cherry Blossom with citrus and cherry notes, or the Heat of Passion, bringing tequila, tropical fruit, and a spicy kick. For something more complex, the smoky, layered Risen From the Ashes delivers a deeper, more indulgent sip.

8. Vintage Cocktail Club

  • Location: 15 Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 E229
  • Price: €€€
  • For views of: Temple Bar, and the River Liffey
  • Booking tip: reservations are essential - this place is in high demand
  • Why we recommend: discreet to the point of mystery, Vintage Cocktail Club is for those in the know. Hidden behind an unmarked black door in the heart of Temple Bar, this multi-level speakeasy delivers a rooftop experience that specialises in all things cocktails, and features six different types of martinis

Not only does Vintage Cocktail Club serve up some pretty darn beautiful cocktails, but its rooftop terrace is quite the stunner. Recline with a quirky tipple or two in a wicker chair or opt for the plush velvet sofas to feel like a real VIP. You're immediately transported straight into a 1920s dreamscape with antique furniture and low lighting, before venturing up to the oasis of calm rooftop, where wicker chairs and plush seating invite you to settle in.

This is one of Dublin's most celebrated cocktail bars, and it shows in every glass. Each drink is meticulously crafted using premium ingredients, balancing creativity with classic technique. Fan of a Manhattan? Check out The Cobblestone, made with Red Breast 12-year-old Irish whiskey and apricot brandy. Or opt for something more citrussy, like the Daily Mule, 1914.

9. Ryleigh’s Rooftop Restaurant

  • Location: 82 North Wall Quay, North Wall, Dublin 1, D01 XR83
  • Price: €€€€
  • For views of: the River Liffey, Dublin city centre, the Dublin Mountains, and even Dun Laoghaire on a clear day
  • Booking tip: request a window or terrace table for sunset
  • Why we recommend: this one's all about steakhouse indulgence with truly panoramic views. Whether you're knocking back a couple of cocktails or munching on scrumptious steak, this place has a pretty impressive backdrop of the city that can span even Dun Laoghaire when the weather's immaculate

Ryleigh's is the best rooftop restaurant in Dublin, ideal for grabbing drinks and dinner with a view. Perched on the sixth floor of The Mayson, this is where you go when you want sweeping views, polished interiors, and a meal that matches the setting.

As the name suggests, food centres around premium cuts and steakhouse classics, executed with finesse. Cocktails are equally considered, with a mix of signatures like the Paloma Blanca or the fruit-forward Pulp Fiction, keeping things fresh. You'll be pleased to find that staples like espresso martinis and old fashioneds are done exactly as they should be too, and there's also a solid selection of wines, beers, and after-dinner serves to round things off.

10. Guinness Storehouse

  • Location: St. James's Gate, Dublin 8, D08 VF8H
  • Price: €€€ (entry ticket required)
  • For views of: 360-degree panoramas across Dublin's skyline
  • Booking tip: book your tickets in advance and aim for a sunset slot at the Gravity Bar, as it's the best time to visit
  • Why we recommend: in my opinion, it's Dublin's most iconic rooftop experience, and no rooftop guide is complete without it. While the Gravity Bar is the headline act, the full tour is what makes this place truly special, as you'll be treated to a deep dive into the culture behind Ireland's most famous export

Think that Guinness is the signature pour in Ireland? Well, this is the mothership, and it's located right in the heart of Dublin. Indulge your inner tourist here to create your very own brew topped with an image of your face and get sky-high views at Gravity Bar. This glass-wrapped space delivers unbeatable 360-degree views across Dublin, from the mountains to the sea on a clear day.

For those looking to elevate things, the Connoisseur Experience offers a more refined, small-group tasting led by a Guinness specialist. It includes storytelling, sensory exploration, and a deeper understanding of the flavours and aromas behind each variation, all before mastering the art of the perfect pour yourself. Alternatively, the Guinness Brewery Experience takes you behind the scenes of the working brewery, from historic tunnels to modern brewhouses, culminating in a rooftop pint after a tour.

11. Fitzsimons Bar

  • Location: 21-22 Wellington Quay, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 YK79
  • Price: €€
  • For views of: Temple Bar
  • Booking tip: grab a table early on sunny days, as it's a popular location
  • Why we recommend: Fitzsimons Bar's rooftop is best suited for groups of friends looking for some relaxed pints in the sun, delicious nibbles, and live music come the evening (as its entertainment programme spans seven days a week). It's brilliantly located, and a real hotspot come summer

One of the best rooftop bars Dublin has to offer, Fitzsimons' terrace is very impressive, laid-back, and foliage-adorned. When the summer sun starts to break through, there are very few places as desirable as this suntrap, with spacious seating, a dedicated bar and heaters for when it gets chilly again.

Cool off with the likes of ice-cold beers and simple cocktails, and tuck into a pub-style menu built for sharing (or soaking up a few drinks). There are classics like beef and Guinness stew, fish and chips, and stacked burgers, alongside pizzas, wings, and smaller bites like salt and chilli chicken or crispy fish pieces.

12. The Workmans Club

  • Location: 10 Wellington Quay, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 VX36
  • Price: €€
  • For views of: the River Liffey and Temple Bar
  • Booking tip: head up early on sunny days to grab a good spot, as this rooftop is a certified suntrap
  • Why we recommend: I love the fact that, while you might come for the rooftop, chances are you'll end up exploring the rest of the venue, from live gigs to club nights that run into the early hours

Did you know that The Workmans Club is home to one of the best rooftop bars in Dublin? Complete with its own burger joint and cocktail spot, this quirky (and colourful) suntrap is made for sinking a drink while topping up your tan this summer.

But as you'd expect from a venue with this kind of musical history, things don't stay mellow for long. The Workman's has hosted everything from breakout gigs to iconic performances; names like Fontaines D.C. and Damien Dempsey have all passed through its doors, and that energy carries right up to the rooftop. The space itself is adaptable too, with a retractable roof that opens up fully when the weather plays nice and keeps things cosy when it doesn't.
