Birmingham's drinking scene is set to expand with the opening of The Pineapple Club, a chic bar and beer boutique.

Situated in the historic Great Western Arcade, this sophisticated two-storey spot is plying thirsty Brummies with a host of concoctions, craft booze and ales. Created by the team behind the award-winning The Vanguard Cocktail Bar & Meadery, the central spot will be pushing boundaries with its unusual drinks combinations.

On the first floor, you'll find a stunning art deco-inspired lounge, kitted out in pastel hues, plush seating for 80 guests and a few statement adornments. Boasting a biannually changing cocktail menu, the bar's libations are based around a certain concept, with the initial offerings themed on Miami beach. Expect tipples such as The Biscayne Blue - a medley of gin, mead, elderflower and botanical cordial - served with edible blue paint.

The Pineapple Club also has a selection of food options to keep peckish stomachs at bay. Run by Santi Plazas, ex-sous chef at El Boracho Tapas, the kitchen will cook up brunch dishes in the morning before moving onto an international small plates menu. In a rush? Swing by their bottle shop where you can get your hands on everything from quirky brews to liqueurs and spirits to go.
