With some of its oldest parts dating back to 1093, Chester Cathedral is a real sight to behold. You can still see some Norman influence in the building, though it was rebuilt from 1250, resulting in much more of a Gothic style. The inside is just as striking as the exterior, with its stunning stained-glass windows and woodwork.
Entry is free for most of the year, with a small charge during summer and Christmas periods - which goes towards maintaining the magnificent site. You'll even get to see the 275,000 brick LEGO recreation of the cathedral, and there's a cafe here as well.
