Manchester Food and Drink Festival Bar Of The Year
The nominees for the 2013 Manchester Food and Drink Awards have been announced - and DesignMyNight are proud to be the festival's official partners on the prestigious Bar of The Year award. The Bar Of The Year award recognises the best bars in Manchester that aren't considered 'pubs' and commends six Manchester bars decided on by a panel of judges. The winner is determined by a combination of public and judges' vote, and revealed at the highly anticipated Food and Drink Awards at Manchester Town Hall in October. So without further ado, the nominees are.... (drumroll please)
A relative newcomer on the Manchester bar scene, Revolucion de Cuba launched last year in a flurry of Latin flava, and has quickly established itself amongst Manchester night owls with its vibrant atmosphere, affordable tapas and killer cocktails. With live music most evenings and a basement club room for more raucous evenings, this little slice of the tropics in Manchester brings the fiesta every night. Vote for it on the MFDF website.
First up on the list is the excellent Gorilla. Just a year old, this latest addition to the Trof family (Trof, The Deaf Institute) has rapidly established itself as one of Manchester's coolest night spots and more than earned its place on this shortlist with a vibrant offering of great food, innovative drinks and top club and gig bookings. A real DesignMyNight favourite (partly due to its location just a short stagger from DMN HQ), this NY style Northern Quarter bar just keeps on getting better. This year saw it double in size with the opening of another room, up its dining game, and introduce regular ping pong parries in its exposed brick basement. If Kosmonaut floats your spaceship, vote for it at the MFDF website now.
The Jackalope is a cool and ambient lounge bar located in the lovely Manchester suburb of Chorlton. With quirky decor, a bohemian ambience and regular live music events, this relatively new bar flaunts an indie spirit and attracts a loyal crowd of local Chorltonites. Vote for it now on the MFDF website.
Located just off King Street, Liquorice is a hidden gem of a bar which is well deserving of its place on this list. Highly experienced bar staff mixing killer cocktails, a suave atmosphere and a great crowd make this one of the best cocktail bars in Manchester. Vote for it now on the MFDF website.
