Bartender of the Week: Rachael Kingston, Kosmonaut

Each week we catch up with one of Manchester's favourite bartenders to talk about the city's bars, pubs and clubs. After all, what better way to get an insight into a bar than from the person serving the drinks? This week we ask Rachael Kingston, bartender at Kosmonaut a few questions...

Name: Rachael Kingston

Works at: Kosmonaut

You should come for drinks at Kosmonaut because… we're a new bar hidden in the Northern Quarter, we make amazing drinks and have a soundtrack to match.

I’ll whip you up a… Manhattan. If you love whiskey, we've got an awesome selection to choose from. And fitting right in with our NY style, stirred down with some Vermouth.

Mine’s a… Clover Club. It’s a classic gin cocktail that luckily survived its way through prohibition, and makes me happy on an almost daily basis.

When I’m off duty you’ll normally find me… recovering from a busy weekend in Kosmonaut! In Topshop, or another bar around Manchester. Epernay is great for some classic drinks.

The best thing about being a bartender is… being able to have fun while I'm at work, making lovely drinks for people!  As tough as it can be to have to try an entire wine selection on a Tuesday afternoon, the training isn't so bad.

Not many people know this but… I'm a fully qualified Nurse.

Come and see me on… my shifts vary from week to week – you’ll just have to pop in and see!
