Take a seat at Covent Garden Hotel on 12th September to celebrate the subtle yet complex flavours of pinot noir. Enjoy canapés and a six course menu by Executive Head Chef Joe Fox, expertly paired with a tasting led by Howard Ripley, the leading UK supplier of fine wines largely from small, family-run estates.
Arguably one of the most charismatic and diverse grape varieties, winemakers around the world have been finessing pinot noir for centuries. Vineyards in Burgundy produce silk-like wines with herbal aromas whilst the New World’s cooler climates offer a more velvety palate with riper fruit flavours.
Known as the ‘heartbreak grape’ it is notoriously difficult to grow and bottle. However in the right hands, the perfumed aroma is amongst the world’s most prestigious wines. Best sipped and savoured, be sure to spare a thought for the winemaker who survived a love affair with the heartbreak grape, and the bottle that tells the tale.
Hosted in the vibrant surroundings of the hotel’s Fortune and Lyric Room, tickets cost £90 including canapés, six course menu and wine tasting.
