*Feb 2020 Intermediate course starts Feb 25th and runs every Tues until 17th March inclusive*
In these 4 sessions, you will study using props such as feather boas, look at floor work, learn more advanced striptease techniques, develop your own persona and explore comedy and character in burlesque. We will teach you tips to help you really connect with your audience and help you with on stage acting and musicality. This course is suitable for anyone who has completed the House of Burlesque beginners course, or other beginners burlesque classes or workshops and is suitable for all genders.
Intermediate Week By Week Sessions: £35 per class or £140 for the whole course
TUES 25TH FEB: Week 1 - Acting, Comedy and Storytelling for Burlesque
Learn how to really make a connection with the crowd and explore how to communicate effectively through your face and body language, tell stories, add dimension to your striptease, and explore the use of comedy onstage. This workshop is useful for all styles of burlesque.
Please bring: A pair of heels and clothes you can dance in. Pen and notebook.
TUES 3RD MARCH: Week 2 - Advanced Striptease
Stocking peels and corset removals are two of the most sensual and elegant of the striptease arts, and the most tricky to master. Discover the secret to making your stocking peels look effortless and corset stripteases "come off" without a hitch.
Please Bring: Stockings* and suspenders, or hold ups. Heels you can easily slip on and off. A back laced corset
(optional). Pen and notebook.
*We recommend most types of sheer stockings with the exception of fishnet stockings.
TUES 10TH MARCH: Week 3 - Introduction to Floorwork and Props
Floorwork and props can add much sought after dimensions and levels to your performance. Learn the secrets of how to use props effectively and imaginatively to bond them seamlessly into the narrative of your routine. With floor work understand how to get up and down effortlessly, and the positions that are most flattering on the floor.
Please bring: A pair of heels and clothes you can dance in. Pen and notebook. Floorwork can be tough on the joints, we suggest bringing knee pads or a yoga mat.
TUES 17TH MARCH: Week 4 - Confidence and Presence
Learn techniques to help you boost your confidence and magnetism on the stage, and also how to calm nerves and control energy before the performance. This workshop is also suitable for those working in non-burlesque performance disciplines.
Please bring: A pair of heels and clothes you can dance in. Pen and notebook.
